Chapter 042: The Ultimate Death is Life!

"This can't go on like this. The pain is one thing, but during this time I have no fighting power, and I can't absorb any more life energy. The life energy within Nine-Pointed Star can only sustain them for another ten minutes."
Yang Chen furrowed his brow and guided the gray energy with his consciousness, inching closer to the life energy in his palm, eroding it bit by bit. During this time, the life energy could not remain passive. In a desperate struggle for survival, the two extreme wills collided continuously, causing Yang Chen to tremble uncontrollably.
"Ah." With a long howl from Yang Chen, the last trace of life energy was finally neutralized by the death energy. His entire left hand appeared pale, with wisps of gray mist swirling beneath the skin.

"Not enough; this isn't even close to my limit, and there's still excess death energy." Yang Chen frowned and continued to channel death energy into his left hand for further forging. Although he had consumed a significant amount of death energy without achieving balance among the three small spheres, he had reduced the number of gray dots within Nine-Pointed Star, allowing for absorption of external life energy which could then be transmitted to members of the Shadow Kill Yongbing group.
Yang Chen could finally relax and quietly forge his Hand of Death. More and more death energy flowed into his left hand; its whiteness became less pronounced, transforming into a complexion reminiscent of a woman's skin. The gray beneath the skin gradually concealed itself, becoming faintly visible and imbued with an air of mystery.
"Should have reached the limit, but why do I feel like something is missing?" Yang Chen frowned and said.
"What could it be? Everything I've done shouldn't have gone wrong. Life and death can be transformed into each other; there's nothing strange about being one with life and death. But why does it feel off?"
