Shen Mingliang felt anxious, fearing that Shangguan Shaoyi would truly pull the trigger. He quickly pressed against the gun's muzzle and said, "Young Marshal, think carefully!" 0

Shangguan Shaoyi's cold gaze lingered silently on the gun's muzzle. There was no cold wind blowing around, yet it felt as frigid as winter. Shen Mingliang gritted his teeth and turned to Rong Hai, saying, "Mr. Rong, this matter is not the Young Marshal's fault; if you must blame someone, it shouldn't be him!" 0

"Then who do you think I should blame?" Rong Hai fixed his gaze on him, his eyes murky and profound, making Shen Mingliang feel as if he were facing a formidable enemy. 0

Without thinking, he blurted out, "Mr. Rong should blame Miss Cheng. Previously, you mentioned to Miss Cheng about having the Young Marshal marry two women, but Miss Cheng did not agree..." 0

"This matter is my disagreement; it has nothing to do with Mo Su." Shangguan Shaoyi coldly interrupted him, his gaze deepening. 0

Shen Mingliang paused and said, "But Miss Cheng thinks the same way; she only wants to monopolize the Young Marshal. Throughout history, which noble general has not had multiple wives? Marrying concubines is something that the legitimate wife should help arrange. Even if she hasn't entered the household, she should understand these principles. But what has she done?! If she could be a bit more magnanimous, would Miss Rong have encountered such an accident?" 0

Shangguan Shaoyi's pupils tightened slightly, his expression as cold as ever, making it impossible to discern his emotions. 0

"Youth Marshal! Is there something else you have forgotten?! Miss Cheng's father is a capitalist who provided arms to that thief; how can you endure such enmity?" 0

As soon as the words fell, even Rong Hai was taken aback. Cheng Mo Su's father provided arms to Lin Hongyao? Such a deep-seated feud, and Shangguan Shaoyi could actually choose not to pursue it? 0

"I have already said, do not mention this matter again." He threw the gun on the ground and walked outside, his words icy and his back cold and solitary. Just as Shen Mingliang was about to follow him, he was pulled back by Rong Hai, who shook his head. 0

Seeing Shen Mingliang's confusion, Rong Hai sighed. "He heard everything we just said; he must be in great turmoil right now. He is an introspective person who keeps all his feelings bottled up inside. I fear he believes that Yu Qiao's death is closely related to him. Rest assured, if he thinks this way, he will ultimately vent his anger on Miss Cheng. It seems that he and Miss Cheng are destined to be apart." 0

Shen Mingliang fell silent; both of them ceased speaking and looked towards Yun Yun lying in a pool of blood. Shen Mingliang moved his lips but ultimately did not utter a word; only the tremor in his pupils did not escape Rong Hai's eyes. Rong Hai suppressed his hatred for Yun Yun and quickly sorted out his thoughts. He patted Shen Mingliang's shoulder and said, "Forget it; the main culprit is dead. I don't want to pursue anything further; take me home." 0

The Rong Family Mansion suddenly became desolate; the fragrance of flowers and birdsong seemed to become clear in an instant. The large courtyard lacked the once lively figure; even surrounded by greenery, it had lost its vitality. Rong Hai walked silently, pushed open the door, and was met with a strong scent of cigars mixed with gunpowder wafting into his nostrils. 0

He darkened his expression and said, "What are you doing here?" 0

Shangguan Shaoyi remained silent for a moment, extinguished his cigar, sat up straight to block the inappropriate sunlight, and spoke in a low and cold voice, "I bear a significant part of the responsibility for Yu Qiao's death." He raised his eyes, which were filled with an uncontainable chill. "Uncle Rong can do whatever he wants to me; if he wants to kill me, I have no objections." 0

Rong Hai scoffed, his gaze fixed on the gun that Shangguan Shaoyi had placed on the coffee table. "I indeed want to kill you and your Miss Cheng, but if you die, who knows how chaotic the Northeast will become? I am a father, but I am also a businessman. Now that I have lost my rights as a father, I must live well as a businessman." 0

He patted Shangguan Shaoyi on the shoulder and smiled. "Xiao Lin, I didn't reach my current position through kindness and compassion. The more you lose your humanity, the higher and faster you can climb. You are still too black-and-white in your views of good and evil. If you want to take over the world, you need to change this character of yours." 0

Shangguan Shaoyi's gaze grew colder as it fell upon this person whose emotions were hard to read. Rong Hai leisurely sat on the sofa and gestured for him to take a seat. Shangguan Shaoyi's brow twitched slightly before he slowly sat down. 0

"You know what I want," Rong Hai said, staring into his eyes until he saw the cold light in Shangguan Shaoyi's gaze slightly dissipate before he turned away. 0

Shangguan Shaoyi suppressed all kinds of emotions within him and spoke decisively, "I understand." His eyes were slightly cold, and his lips were tightly pressed together. "Starting tomorrow, all railway construction rights in the Northeast will belong to Uncle Rong." 0

Rong Hai smiled deeply, cunning like a fox. "Then I thank you in advance." 0

After leaving the Rong Family, he did not stop for a moment and drove back to the command center. He casually flipped through a stack of documents, immersing himself in them as if it could alleviate his terrible mood. Deputy Officer Shen knocked on the door, but he did not respond for a long time. Deputy Officer Shen had no choice but to push the door open himself, only to be taken aback. 0

Shangguan Shaoyi stood by the window, his sharply defined features radiating a cold hostility that even the bright sunlight could not melt away. The loneliness that had seeped into him was so thick it was suffocating; his heart was tangled with countless webs of despair, even past sorrows coalescing within. 0

Shen Mingliang quietly retreated, unwilling to disturb him, unsure of what kind of person could pull Shangguan Shaoyi out of this mire at this moment. 0

It was only at midnight that he returned home. 0

A new European-style fireplace was added to the house, along with a new vase from the previous dynasty, making the once familiar surroundings feel somewhat estranged. He sat on the sofa, not turning on the lights, as if darkness was the only place he could find refuge. Shangguan Yiting quietly watched him from upstairs; she didn't know exactly what had happened, but she could guess a little and let out a soft sigh. 0

"Why did you come back so late? What were you busy with?" She turned on the crystal chandelier, instantly illuminating the room like daylight, leaving him nowhere to hide. 0

He raised his hand to shield his eyes from the brightness, and after adjusting to the light, he slowly opened his eyes, his long fingers fiddling with a lighter, his expression blank. "I caught Yun Yun today." 0

Shangguan Yiting's eyes brightened. "Where is she?!" 0

"Dead." He coldly spat out those two words. 0

"That's a good thing. Why are you so downcast?" She sat down beside Shangguan Shaoyi, quietly watching him. 0

"Nothing." He raised an eyebrow and glanced at the old-fashioned clock before standing up. "It's getting late; I'm heading to the command center." 0

Shangguan Yiting was taken aback. "Aren't you going to see Mo Su? You used to go see her no matter how late it was when you came back. Why not now…" 0

His gaze drifted off into the distance, silence enveloping him for a long while before he finally spoke. "Mo Su should be fast asleep by now. I won't go; please take good care of her for me." 0

As he walked toward the door, his long and strong fingers touched the handle. Just as his figure was about to disappear into the darkness, he paused and picked up a piece of paper and a pen, writing a few words before saying lightly, "Please give this to Mo Su for me." 0
