In the heart of the Primordial Wilderness, Qian Mo remained unaware that he was still trapped within the Mountain Water Maze. Enveloped in a swirling mist, he found himself ensnared by a Specter wielding a powerful Divine Ability that distorted the flow of time, casting his soul into an ancient dreamscape that felt both real and illusory.
In this dream, everything he experienced could be deemed false; for instance, Qian Mo's mind was consumed with thoughts of the Soulgrass, his mouth watering at the mere idea of it. Yet, it could also be considered real—if his soul were to perish within this realm, it would mean true death, as his essence would be lost forever. Of course, if fortune favored him, he might emerge with brain damage, reduced to a vegetative state.
"Hey, don't you dare die in there," a sinister chuckle echoed through the air. "As the destined child of the Embalming Line, it would be far too pathetic to meet your end in an Illusion. If that were to happen, I can only imagine how Embalming Line would come after me in a frenzy..."
The Maze Master's twisted laughter filled the space once more. However, before it could finish its taunt, a sensation from beyond the Mountain Water Maze captured its attention. As the master of this domain, it could distinctly feel dozens of powerful forces converging toward itself with great intensity.
"Ha! Just as I predicted. Though I suspected as much, you Embalmers certainly treasure this kid more than I thought. I've cultivated this independent space for millennia as a sanctuary for slumber and recovery, fortified with numerous top-tier illusions and mazes. There are at least ten deadly formations here, all anchored by the Mountain Water Maze while I reside in the primordial land known as 'The Beginning of One Yuan' and 'Ten Thousand Heavens.' Even if my strength has diminished to less than one-tenth of what it once was after years of slumber, it's only been a short while since my passing and yet you've already dared to invade my territory?"
Looking up at a specific point in the sky obscured by clouds and mist that shrouded the mountains and waters, the Maze Master’s keen vision pierced through. It could see dozens of humans floating effortlessly in mid-air as if defying gravity itself, their gazes unwaveringly fixed upon it. Each individual had already locked onto its presence from afar.
Among them stood a middle-aged man clad in an Azure Robe at the forefront. He exuded an aura akin to jade—handsome features complemented by ancient attire that seemed to move without wind—giving off an impression of refined elegance and peaceful detachment from worldly affairs. Yet the Maze Master knew all too well that this man's power fluctuations marked him as the strongest among them! His fierce and unrestrained energy was anything but benign.
"Heh heh, young ones from the Embalmer lineage have gathered here on my territory; I assume you’re not here merely to pay respects to my departed soul?"
Despite his eccentric temperament and penchant for mischief, the Maze Master appeared remarkably composed at this moment. The mist enveloping its form shifted slightly as the Mountain Water Maze opened up a passageway as if welcoming guests.
"What a splendid invitation! I've long heard tales of Demon Emperor Bai Ze from the Primeval Era—his reputation for traversing heaven and earth is unmatched. His mastery over time and space has reached unparalleled heights. Today’s encounter truly lives up to its renown!"
The Azure Robe man raised his hand in salute; his words revealed the true identity of the Mountain Water Master hidden within the mist.
"Oh? Young one, you possess some skill to know my identity; do you dare enter my domain for a discussion?"
Though his identity had been exposed, the Maze Master showed no signs of surprise. Instead, he effortlessly dissipated the surrounding fog.
In an instant, harmonious sounds filled the air; multicolored divine light illuminated the sky while golden lotuses erupted from the ground amidst scenes of countless beasts bowing and birds singing. The Maze Master radiated a brilliant jade-like glow that intensified to such an extent that it became nearly blinding. Even those outside the maze who stood ready for confrontation couldn't help but express their admiration.
