"Ding!"
A sound came from the system.
The task bar of the Scumbag Recycling Station lit up with a red light, indicating that there was a new task available.
I instinctively straightened my back, crossed my hands on the table, and stared at the message on the holographic screen in front of me.
"Please prepare, members of the Recycling Station. This target is not simple."
The system's voice sounded, carrying a hint of glee.
Li Ming, the technical expert of the Recycling Station, immediately put on his glasses, opened his computer, and began typing rapidly on the keyboard.
"This time, the target information is very limited—name, age, and there isn't even a photo; the system only provided a phone number."
"But don't worry, I've activated the technical reconnaissance mode and will soon obtain his background information."
In the hall of the Recycling Station, a massive display screen occupied an entire wall.
As Li Ming finished speaking, the screen lit up and began playing a video.
In the video, a black Mercedes sped down the road with a well-dressed man inside.
He wore a tailored suit, his hair meticulously styled, and sported gold-rimmed glasses, looking like a refined scoundrel.
"This person is our target—Zhao Tianxing."
When the video ended, Zhao Tianxing's personal information appeared on the screen.
"Zhao Tianxing, 35 years old; on the surface, he is a philanthropist and socialite, but in reality, he is a scumbag."
"Scumbag?"
I frowned.
"That's right," Li Ming nodded.
"He deceives women emotionally to gain benefits and has been to court multiple times due to relationship disputes."
"Our task is to make him realize his mistakes and change him."
As soon as Li Ming finished speaking, Zhou Jie beside me snorted coldly.
"This kind of scumbag should be thrown into prison!"
"No."
I shook my head.
"Our goal is to change him, not to seek revenge or punishment."
"But—"
Zhou Jie wanted to say something else but I interrupted her.
"I know what you want to say."
"But we are not judges; we don't have the right to decide someone else's fate."
"What we need to do is guide him and change him."
Zhou Jie was silent for a moment and sighed.
"Alright, I understand."
Although Zhou Jie had a fiery temper, she understood reason and knew I was right.
"So, what should we do next?"
Li Ming looked at me and Zhou Jie, waiting for our instructions.
"First, we need more detailed information."
I said.
"Zhao Tianxing is a cunning person; to change him, we must understand him."
"Leave this to me."
Li Ming picked up the computer again and started working.
"I will gather all the information on Zhao Tianxing from childhood to now within half an hour."
"Good."
I nodded.
"Additionally, we need to start formulating a strategy."
"Old Zhang."
I looked at Old Zhang sitting in the corner. Although he had already retired, we still habitually called him Old Zhang. He lifted his head and looked at me.
"Based on Li Ming's information, combined with your knowledge of law and psychology, analyze Zhao Tianxing," he said. "See if he has violated any laws or if there is a possibility that he might."
Old Zhang pushed up his glasses, picked up the notebook on the table, and began to jot down notes. "Alright, give me a moment."
Old Zhang instructed us to close all consultation channels. The "Scumbag Recycling Station" seemed to be out of business. We intentionally left a small opening, just enough for a scumbag to slip in. The entire building was pitch black, except for my office, which was still lit.
This was the trap we had set, waiting for the scumbag to walk right into it. I sat quietly at my desk, waiting. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, my palms slightly sweating, and deep inside, there was an unexpected sense of anticipation.
