I cast aside all my fears and doubts. I tightly gripped the artifact in my hand, feeling the strength and determination it brought me. As the ritual progressed, the light gradually grew stronger, dissolving all the shadow's attacks. The light was like a sharp sword, cutting through the darkness and guiding us forward.
We saw the dawn of victory, but at that moment, an even more powerful shadow appeared. It loomed above us, looking down with a voice like thunder: "Foolish humans, do you think you can defeat me like this?" We did not respond; we only continued with the ritual more resolutely.
The light became brighter, and it felt as if the weight on my body vanished, making our movements feel infused with power. As the light grew stronger, it formed a thick pillar of light, its dazzling rays piercing through the night sky. Although the shadow began to retreat in the light, we still had to guard this pillar; it felt as if we were protecting our home and our lives.
We remained vigilant, carefully observing our surroundings in case the shadow's power had not completely dissipated. Only by finding the source of the shadow could we truly resolve this issue.
"Lin Xiaoyue, what do you think we should do next?" Zhao Ming asked, gripping his weapon tightly and looking at me with determination. I felt his trust and resolve, so I turned to him and slowly replied, "We need to prepare for the next battle."
"The shadows definitely won't let us off so easily; we must find their source." Xuan Zhenzi listened quietly to our conversation and nodded: "Lin Xiaoyue is right; we need to find the source of the shadows."
"But before that, we need to fortify the village's defenses to prevent another attack from the shadows." Zhao Ming gently patted my shoulder, a bright smile on his face: "So what are we waiting for? Let's get to work!"
From that night on, we began busying ourselves with reinforcing the village's defenses. We set up various traps and alarms so that if the shadows dared to come again, we could respond immediately. Zhao Ming proposed many constructive suggestions; he spent a long time pondering over the shadows.
"We need to study the shadows more deeply," Zhao Ming said, gripping his weapon tightly with determination shining in his eyes. "Where do they come from? What do they want? These are questions we must clarify."
We are all preparing for the next battle, knowing that the shadows will never easily admit defeat.
Days pass, and the village returns to its usual tranquility. However, I understand that this peace is actually very fragile.
Every night, I patrol the entrance of the village to ensure there are no traces of the shadows. My footsteps echo in the silent night as my eyes search for any suspicious signs in the darkness.
Zhao Ming is always worried that I might be too tired and advises me to take more rest. I just smile slightly and say, "We cannot let our guard down; the shadows could return at any moment."
Strange phenomena have begun to appear in the village, such as livestock mysteriously disappearing and dogs barking incessantly at night. Some even claim to have seen dark figures drifting in the woods.
