I was looking at a book called "Dream Maze Guide" with Zhao Lan in a bookstore named Dream Maze. Just as I was focused on reading, I suddenly noticed that the small text on the pages had transformed into glowing dots, surrounding us completely.
Surprised, I turned to Zhao Lan and asked, "Did you notice those suddenly glowing...?" Before I could finish my sentence, the scenery around us changed completely. In the blink of an eye, we found ourselves standing in a thick white fog.
The surroundings were distorted, like a dream, making everything feel particularly unreal. "It seems like we've been pulled into a strange place," Zhao Lan said uncertainly, her voice echoing in the eerily quiet maze. My heart raced as I cautiously looked around. Our conversation felt like someone was hammering at my heart.
"What exactly is this place? Where are we supposed to find the Dream Key?" I instinctively lowered my voice, afraid that speaking too loudly might attract trouble. Just then, a deep laughter pierced through the fog and reached our ears.
The voice sounded like that of a middle-aged man. He said, "Welcome to Dream Maze. It seems you are also here to find the Dream Key, but don't think you are the only ones playing." Zhao Lan and I exchanged glances, both of us able to see the confusion and tension in each other's eyes. The voice had come too suddenly and seemed to know our purpose all too well.
Reluctantly, we pressed forward, unaware of how many unknown dangers awaited us ahead. As we cautiously made our way deeper into the maze, a figure dressed in black slowly emerged from the fog.
"You’re looking for the Dream Key, right?" the person asked directly.
"Do you know where the Dream Key is?" I asked straightforwardly.
"The Dream Key does exist," the person replied slowly, "but this maze won't make it easy for you to obtain it; it will test your intelligence and courage. Many have become trapped here and can no longer find their way back."
Zhao Lan and I decided to continue venturing deeper into the maze, unsure of what strange occurrences awaited us next.
I just saw Han Mo's figure swaying and disappearing into the mist without a trace. This Dream Maze seems to have its own little thoughts. Sometimes it suddenly changes, sealing off pathways that were originally passable. A turn could lead to all sorts of dangers. So we need to be particularly careful.
"Hey, look over there, what is that thing?" Zhao Lan asked, pointing at a strange object in the corner. The surface of that thing was slippery, like a mirror, and it emitted a dim light.
"Let's take a look here." I pointed to another side. The patterns on the ground were chaotic; at first glance, they looked like a maze map. But upon closer inspection, something felt off.
"Do you think this could be some kind of code?" Zhao Lan asked, pointing at a pile of symbols carved on a stone. I studied those symbols for a long time, pondering in my mind.
"Maybe this is some ancient mysterious language?" I suggested. "Perhaps each symbol represents a word, and we need to decipher it."
Zhao Lan and I exchanged glances, both sensing a hint of excitement in each other's eyes. It seemed like we had found some clues to locate the Dream Key. However, immediately after that, a new problem arose.
"But how do we understand these symbols?" There were no written records or relevant reference materials. The only clue I could think of was—
"Wait a moment, let me think."
"Perhaps they represent certain meanings through shapes."
I squatted down and took out paper and a pen to start drawing these symbols.
"Look at this one, doesn't it look like a key?"
"And this one, doesn't it resemble a maze map?"
Time passed slowly.
