Chapter 33
The first time I came to Qiao Guangyan's home, it was a large European-style villa.
The garden was filled with various flowers and plants. I looked around at the unfamiliar environment, feeling uneasy.
Qiao Guangyan smiled gently and said, "From now on, this will be your home."
Lin Yun took my hand and said, "Call him Dad; he will be your dad from now on."
I looked at Qiao Guangyan, opened my mouth, but couldn't bring myself to say it.
Qiao Guangyan said, "It's okay, no rush."
Lin Yun gently patted the back of my hand and said to Qiao Guangyan, "She's a bit shy; please don't mind her."
Qiao Guangyan responded with a soft "mm," his expression unreadable.
Lin Yun led me upstairs to a beautifully decorated princess room.
"You'll live here from now on. If you need anything, just let me know."
I nodded.
Lin Yun said, "You should rest for a while. I'll call you when it's time for dinner."
After Lin Yun left, I closed the door, looked around the room, and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window to gaze at the garden outside.
This would be my home from now on, but I didn't feel happy at all.
Qiao Guangyan's parents suddenly arrived to check on Qiao Guangyan's marital status.
Qiao Guangyan hurriedly informed Lin Yun, asking her to bring me over to meet the elders.
Unfortunately, Qiao Qiran was not at home.
Lin Yun was frantic, repeatedly calling Qiao Qiran, but no one answered.
At the dining table, Qiao Guangyan's Father snorted coldly, "Stop looking; we went to the school, and the teacher said he has been on leave for a while."
I lowered my head to eat, not daring to speak.
Lin Yun forced a smile, "This child went out for something; please don't mind, Uncle and Aunt."
Qiao Guangyan's Mother said, "What kind of daughter-in-law are you? You can't even keep an eye on your son."
Lin Yun's face turned awkward, "It's my fault."
Qiao Guangyan said, "Mom and Dad, today is a family reunion; let's not bring up unhappy things."
Qiao Guangyan's Mother looked at me and asked, "Are you Lin Chu?"
I timidly nodded, "Yes."
Qiao Guangyan's Mother continued, "You are quite pretty, but our Qiao Family is a prominent family; you have climbed too high."
My hands clenched tightly under the table as I lowered my gaze, not wanting them to see my embarrassment.
Qiao Guangyan's Mother coldly said, "Why aren't you speaking? Are you mute?"
Lin Yun tried to smooth things over, "The child is still young and shy."
Qiao Guangyan's Father snorted, "If you're shy, then don't come out and embarrass yourself. The Qiao Family doesn't raise idle people."
I couldn't help but want to cry, but I held it back, not wanting to shed tears in front of these people.
Qiao Guangyan's Mother said, "Why haven't you called your grandparents yet? How rude."
I bit my lip, unable to force the words out.
Lin Yun angrily slammed the table, "Lin Chu!"
I trembled in fear; I really couldn't say it.
Qiao Guangyan said, "Alright, let's eat first."
Qiao Guangyan's Father snorted again, "This meal is ruined."
Qiao Guangyan's Mother also put down her chopsticks, looking displeased.
I looked at them and suddenly stood up, turning around and running out.
I ran back to my room and closed the door, tears streaming down uncontrollably.
I looked around the room; everything felt unfamiliar.
I took out my backpack and pulled out a drawing that I had prepared as a birthday gift for Qiao Qiran.
Looking at the painting, I suddenly lunged forward and tore it to shreds.
I crouched down, burying my face in my knees, crying silently.
I don't know how long I cried; eventually, I wiped my tears, took out my phone, and dialed Lu Weize's number.
After a few rings, the call connected.
Lu Weize's voice came through: "Lin Chu?"
Hearing Lu Weize's voice made my tears flow again.
Lu Weize gently asked, "Lin Chu, what happened?"
I choked out, "Lu Weize, I... I want to see you."
Lu Weize was silent for a few seconds before asking, "Do you want me to come over and keep you company?"
I sniffed: "Would you?"
Lu Weize replied, "Wait for me; I'll think of a way."

I sneaked out, wearing a light-colored T-shirt and ripped jeans, carrying a crossbody bag and sporting large black-framed glasses.
On the pedestrian street under the moonlight, I felt a bit awkward, my heart racing with both anxiety and anticipation.
I arrived at the small garden, and Lu Weize was already waiting there.
He was wearing a white shirt and black trousers, his hair neatly styled, looking quite serious compared to his trendy image at school.
As I walked over, Lu Weize noticed me and his gaze fell on my black-rimmed glasses.
"You put them on again."
I didn't say anything; I took off the glasses and put them back on.
Lu Weize chuckled lightly, "Do you really think they can protect you?"
I pressed my lips together and remained silent.
Lu Weize took out two disposable food containers from his pocket. "You didn't eat enough, right? I brought you some food."
I looked at him in surprise.
Lu Weize said, "I was worried you'd go hungry."
I opened the container and saw a generous amount of food inside, exclaiming, "So much!"
Lu Weize smiled, "It's all for you."
I started eating while Lu Weize sat beside me watching.
After wiping my mouth with a tissue, Lu Weize suddenly reached out and took a sanitary pad from my crossbody bag, intending to help me wipe my mouth. I quickly dodged away.
My face turned bright red.
Lu Weize asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
I awkwardly replied, "Um... that's not for wiping your mouth."
Lu Weize looked puzzled, "Then what is it for?"
My face grew even redder as I snatched the tissue and wiped my mouth myself.
Seeing my actions, Lu Weize suddenly understood. He cleared his throat to cover up the embarrassment.
After finishing the meal, I took a wad of torn paper from my crossbody bag and handed it to Lu Weize.
Lu Weize took the torn paper and frowned, "Who tore this? Tell me, I'll help you get back at them."
I whispered, "I tore it myself."
Lu Weize said, "Why would you tear your own drawing?"
I lowered my head and remained silent.
Lu Weize asked, "Did they say you're an idiot?"
My body trembled slightly as I tried to hold back my tears, but they couldn't help but fall.
Lu Weize hugged me tightly and comforted me, "You're not an idiot, definitely not."
I cried and wanted to call out Lu Weize's name, but I couldn't bring myself to say it.
Lu Weize gently patted my back and said softly, "Your drawing is beautiful, really."
I leaned against Lu Weize's shoulder, feeling his warmth.
Lu Weize said softly, "My IQ is 170, and I like you. Every day, I am completely captivated by you."
I was stunned when I heard this; I didn't expect Lu Weize to say something like that.
Lu Weize released me and wiped away my tears, smiling as he said, "So, don't cry. When a girl cries, it's best not to comfort her because that way... I can hold you a little longer."
I looked at him, my heart racing.
Suddenly, I reached out and hugged Lu Weize, then quickly let go. "Is it okay now?"
Lu Weize smiled and replied, "Not enough."
He held me close and gently stroked my hair.
