A single shot, and dozens of Zombies fell before him. Notian's awakened ability was Mental Ability. Although it wasn't as flashy as a natural Ability, it was very practical for scouting and shooting direction. When shooting, there was no need to aim; the bullets with mental locking were accurate every time.
After eliminating another ten Zombies, Notian took a moment to fondle the Energy Gun's handle. This weapon was simply amazing; not only was it powerful, but it also didn't require reloading. In the past, when he used a gun to kill Zombies, he would run out of bullets quickly and have to reload, wasting time. The Energy Gun was much better; he could shoot as much as he wanted without worrying about running out of ammo, making it a thrilling experience! If only the Energy Gun wouldn't be taken away after the battle. He would definitely hug the Energy Gun to sleep at night, sending his dad to sleep with his second uncle instead.
While he was daydreaming, suddenly a Purple Mecha came flying in, grabbing Notian and lifting him up. Notian was startled and shouted out loud.
"Put me down!"
The Mecha did not let him go but lifted him to the front of its line of sight.
"Why are you grabbing me?" Notian asked, staring at the Mecha's blue glowing eyes in confusion.
"Notian!" A familiar voice came from within the Mecha.
"Aunt Tang Tang?" Notian's eyes widened in surprise; the person controlling the Mecha was actually his aunt. How surreal!
"Notian, your shooting skills are impressive! Do you want to fight alongside your aunt in the Zombie horde? Don't worry; I won't let any Zombie harm you!" Bai Tang's cheerful voice came through. She hadn't expected her nephew to be so capable and become a sharpshooter; she couldn't help but feel proud: the old Bai Family bloodline was indeed strong.
"Yes, yes!" Notian nodded excitedly. Fighting alongside the Mecha was a first for him, and as a fan of giant robots, he trembled with excitement!
Bai Tang laughed as she placed Notian on Fly-5's shoulder. Notian raised his hand and eliminated several Zombies charging toward them.
"Well done!" Bai Tang praised him and charged into the Zombie horde with the boy. Bai Tang handled close combat while Notian focused on selecting targets; their killing efficiency was multiplied.
"Notian, how are your dad and Grandpa doing?" Bai Tang asked while slaying Zombies.
Notian replied while multitasking, "Dad and Grandpa are fine. Dad and my second uncle have awakened their Abilities and joined the front lines. Grandpa is helping transport the injured along with my third Grandpa and fourth Grandpa, while Grandma and Aunt Grandma are assisting in rescuing the wounded from behind."
After a pause, Notian said painfully, "Third Uncle is seriously injured, and his life is uncertain. Aunt Tang Tang, you have such great abilities, is there any way to save Third Uncle?"
"Bai Tang was startled, 'Third Uncle is seriously injured? Here, I have some healing medicine. Take it back to save your Third Uncle.'"
With that, she flew back with Notian, placing him back on the ground and leaving behind a pile of porcelain bottles.
"So much medicine?" Notian couldn't carry it all with both hands and quickly pulled a passing girl to help him hold it.
"One pill is enough to save your Third Uncle; the rest can be dissolved in water to help others. Depending on the severity of the injuries, the severely injured should drink one cup, while the lightly injured can take three sips," Bai Tang instructed.
"Auntie, do you have any Antidote Pills? Those are effective against the Zombie Virus!" Notian shouted as he saw the Mecha about to take off.
Bai Tang slapped her forehead; how could she have forgotten that? Although Ability Users have some immunity to viruses, if there’s a significant level difference or if they are continuously scratched or bitten by Zombies, they could still turn into Zombies. Bai Tang took out ten bottles of Antidote Pills and tossed them to Notian. "Take these first; if you need more, ask me! I’ll go drive back the Zombies!"
She flew into the air, transforming into a purple light rushing toward the battlefield. The girl who had been pulled by Notian exclaimed in envy, "Wow! Do you know someone who drives a Mecha?"
Notian nodded proudly. "That's my aunt!"
"I'm so envious of you! Having such an amazing aunt!" The girl was full of admiration. "Can you ask your aunt for an autograph for me?"
Notian replied, "It depends on your performance!"
On the front lines, Karen Adrian piloted the kf-Slaughter, supported by five hundred elite troops with powerful artillery, causing a massive reduction in the number of Zombies. The instinct-driven Zombies began to retreat in fear. Cheers of victory erupted from the city walls as the base Leader watched the retreating Zombies like a receding tide and decisively issued an order for a pursuit: perhaps after this battle, the Zombies in S Province would no longer pose a threat to humanity.
The kf led the charge, followed by five hundred warriors armed with Energy Guns and Ability Users, with men and women from the base rallying behind them. Every face wore smiles mixed with disbelief; they had won! They had triumphed over the terrifying Zombies and protected their home!
It was simply an incredible turn of events. Half an hour ago, they were waiting in despair for death, and at this moment, they had emerged victorious. It turned out that Zombies were not invincible! Everyone looked at KF- with admiration, as it and its companions had brought hope for survival to everyone!
"Kill them!"
"Take down the Zombies!"
The humans, fueled with adrenaline, moved more smoothly, cutting down the Zombies as easily as chopping vegetables. The roles of hunter and hunted had completely reversed. From mid-air, Bai Tang witnessed the scene of humanity's triumph. Among them, a girl caught Bai Tang's attention. She was a Wind Ability User, but she used her abilities sparingly; she would only unleash wind blades to decapitate Zombies when they were far away from her. At other times, she wielded a sword. Her martial skills were exceptionally strong, surpassing Yuan Mingyi by a level, yet she was only around seventeen or eighteen years old. With such impressive skills at such a young age, she must either have a powerful Sect providing resources or be exceptionally talented herself!
With Bai Tang's involvement, the extermination of the Zombies accelerated. After the last Zombie was eliminated by Bai Tang, everyone erupted in cheers and laughter, which soon turned into tears: some cried tears of joy for their victory, while others mourned for loved ones lost in battle... Laughter and tears are the most direct ways for humans to express their emotions!
After reuniting with Karen Adrian, Bai Tang intended to leave quietly but was invited to the command center of the base by a soldier. The base had two top Leaders: one was the Major General who had commanded from the city wall, named Li Qiang, who was originally the commander of the S Province military district and now managed all the troops and hunters at the base; the other was Sun Kai, who was formerly the Secretary of the S Province Provincial Committee and now handled political affairs and logistics at the base. Unlike other military forces and governments that fought for power with open and covert struggles leading to irreconcilable conflicts, the two Leaders of S Province Base were very focused on the bigger picture. Everything they did was for the good of the base, and their cooperation ensured harmony within the base without any internal strife!
"Bai Comrade, thank you! If you hadn't arrived in time, our S Province Base would have become a paradise for Zombies!" The two Leaders had learned about Bai Tang's name and identity from messages sent from Kyoto. "You are heroes of humanity!"
"You flatter us; we don't deserve such praise!" Bai Tang smiled. "Is there something you need from me, Leaders?"
It couldn't be that simple; two Leaders seeking him out surely meant more than just expressing gratitude!
Li Qiang chuckled heartily: "Straightforward! I like comrades who are so direct! Bai Tang, those two Mechas you piloted today were simply amazing! Could you sell them to our base?"
Sun Kai chimed in: "Do you accept Gold? No matter how much it is, our base will gather it for you!"
Bai Tang shook his head: "It's not that I don't want to sell them to you; it's just that no one here can pilot them!"
"Can't you teach us?" The two assumed Bai Tang was just being evasive and didn't want to sell them such cool Mechas. According to what they heard from Kyoto, the Mechas they could acquire wouldn't compare to these two!
"Teaching it won't help," Bai Tang explained. "The Mecha that Karen Adrian and I pilot, while powerful, requires a great deal of physical and mental strength. You must have both Martial Arts Level 6 and Mental Strength Level 6; one cannot be missing."
"I understand the mental strength part; there are quite a few Mental Ability users in the base. But what is Martial Arts?" Li Qiang asked, puzzled.
"It's a classification by aliens for physical training, essentially measuring physical strength! From what I know about Martial Arts, mental strength, and Ability Users, unless an Ability reaches Level 10, it's unlikely for an Ability User's physical strength to meet the standard of Martial Arts Level 6!"
Li Qiang and Sun Kai felt disheartened; achieving Ability Level 10 seemed like a distant goal.
"I brought ten Mechas to Kyoto. Although they are slightly less powerful, they have lower requirements for the pilots!" Bai Tang added.
Li Qiang immediately said, "We at S Province Base will buy ten or even twenty; please help us out!"
Bai Tang replied, "Other bases also need Mechas, so I can't spare twenty for you right now; at most five!"
"Alright! Even though it's a bit less," Li Qiang nodded. After all, most of the Zombies in S Province had already been eliminated during this operation. The remaining Zombies wouldn't pose a significant threat to the base with five hundred Energy Guns available. "You need to get those Mechas back as soon as possible; I can't wait to reclaim the Provincial Capital!"
Once the central government recaptured Kyoto, they had to keep pace with them.
There was nothing more to discuss with the Leader. After chatting a bit more about other topics and listening to Sun Kai express his gratitude once again, Bai Tang took her leave with Karen Adrian from the command center. She was anxious to see how the Bai Family was doing. Aside from Bai Jian, everyone else was fine, but she couldn't rest easy without seeing for herself. Plus, Bai Jian was injured; she needed to show her concern!
