We arrived in Ancient India, where there was a fragment closely related to the River of Life—the Ganges. The air here was distinctly different from the dryness of the desert; it was humid and filled with the fragrance of earth. Standing on the riverbank, we gazed at the gently flowing water, a sense of awe rising within us.
"Li Jin, where do you think the fragment might be hidden?" Jack asked, scanning the surroundings along the riverbank.
I shook my head. "I'm not sure, but I believe it must be connected to this river." I opened the Navigator, and the power of the Stardust Fragment made its glow even brighter, as if guiding us along the river.
We walked along the riverbank, passing through several small villages where the locals curiously observed us, two outsiders. In a secluded stretch of the river, we discovered an ancient temple with stone steps that extended into the water.
"Look, there's a stone tablet over there," Jack pointed to a stone tablet beside the temple, which bore some indistinct patterns and inscriptions.
I approached the tablet and carefully examined the ancient script. "This is a prayer that expresses reverence for the Ganges and gratitude for the source of life." Suddenly, I realized, "Perhaps this is a clue; the fragment might be hidden somewhere beneath the temple."
We entered the temple, which was dim and silent, with only a few rays of sunlight filtering through gaps in the roof. Deep inside the temple, we found a stone staircase leading downwards.
"There might be something we are looking for down there," I said as I began to descend. Jack followed closely behind, our footsteps echoing in the empty underground passage.
Below was a complex maze with walls covered in various patterns and symbols. We cautiously navigated through until we reached a vast underground chamber.
It was a large reservoir with a stone platform in the center, upon which rested a glowing object—it was exactly what we were searching for: the Ganges Fragment. Its brilliance reflected in the water, illuminating the entire chamber.
However, just as our hands were about to touch the fragment, the water in the reservoir suddenly surged. A massive underwater creature leaped from the depths, its eyes shimmering with green light as it lunged toward us with its gaping maw.
"Watch out!" I shouted, pulling Jack aside just in time. Water splashed everywhere as we dodged the creature's attack while looking for an opportunity to counterattack.
During the struggle, I noticed that this creature was unusually sensitive to light. "Jack, shine your light on its eyes!" I yelled.
Jack immediately understood; he aimed his powerful flashlight at the creature's eyes. It let out a painful roar and its movements slowed down significantly.
Seizing this opportunity, I dashed toward the stone platform and grabbed the Ganges Fragment. A cool power surged into my body, merging with the previous powers of sunlight and Stardust Fragment.
The creature sensed the power of the fragment; it let out one last furious roar before slowly sinking back into the water, returning to calmness.
We stood by the reservoir, panting heavily but filled with joy at our victory. Another Time Fragment had been successfully collected.
However, just as we were preparing to leave, footsteps echoed from the entrance of the chamber. We turned cautiously to see a group of armed figures appearing at the doorway. They were clad in modern gear, with "Wuji Technology" prominently displayed on their chests—clearly Zhao Wuji's pursuers had arrived.
