The Stardust Fragment, hidden at the highest point of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, holds the secrets of the stars and is our next target.
We traversed the vast Middle East and finally arrived at the site of the Babylon ruins. Standing on this ancient land, I could feel the weight of history and the passage of time. The remnants of the Hanging Gardens have long been buried under yellow sands, but the starlight on the Navigator guided us forward.
We began our exploration of the Hanging Gardens. Unlike Egypt's dryness and heat, the climate here was mild yet filled with unknown dangers.
Deep within the ruins of Babylon, we encountered a cleverly designed massive balance device located in the center of an ornate hall. Each end of the balance had a platform connected by a slender beam in the middle. On one platform lay a glowing gemstone, while the other held an empty pedestal.
Ancient inscriptions adorned the walls, and after Jack deciphered them, we learned that this was a weight balance puzzle. Only when both sides achieved perfect equilibrium would a mechanism beneath the balance be triggered, opening a passage to the Stardust Fragment.
We searched the room for objects that could match the weight. We found some ancient stones and metal artifacts that could be placed on the other side of the balance. Through constant experimentation and adjustment of these objects' combinations and positions, we attempted to find a perfect balance point.
During one particularly tense attempt, the weight of the gemstone suddenly increased. We quickly placed several stones and metal pieces on the other side of the balance but still struggled to achieve equilibrium. As time ticked away, I noticed a small statue in the corner of the room; its material seemed to resonate with the glow of the gemstone.
In a last-ditch effort, I decided to place this statue on the balance. The moment it touched the scale, it emitted a light identical to that of the gemstone, and their beams intersected at the center of the balance, forming a bridge of light.
The weights of the gemstone and statue perfectly balanced each other, stabilizing the scale. The mechanism below was triggered, and a hidden door slowly opened, revealing a path to the Stardust Fragment.
We also saw a group of guardians dressed in ancient Babylonian warrior attire, wielding sharp weapons with resolute expressions in their eyes.
"Why do you disturb the tranquility of this sacred place?" questioned an elder among them.
"We are Time Guardians here to seek the Stardust Fragment to restore continuity in time," I replied, holding up my Navigator which emitted an ethereal blue glow.
The elder's gaze shifted over my Navigator as if verifying my words' authenticity. After a moment, he nodded and signaled for his guardians to let us pass.
"The rifts in time have already affected our world; if you truly are guardians, then the secrets of the Hanging Gardens shall be revealed to you," said the elder with a hint of resignation in his voice.
We passed through their defenses into a vast underground space filled with intricate mechanisms where every step was fraught with danger. Jack and I carefully avoided various traps until we finally reached a grand hall.
At its center stood a spiraling structure extending upward into darkness. The light from my Navigator intensified here; surely, the Stardust Fragment awaited us above.
As we climbed that deep and mysterious spiral structure, each step felt like entering a vortex of time. The constellation patterns on the surrounding walls slowly awakened under dim light; they were not merely stone carvings but messengers traversing time and space, softly singing ancient starry epics. My heartbeat quickened with each elevation as an unprecedented sensation surged within me, as if those distant stars were establishing a subtle connection with my soul in some ineffable way.
Just as we approached the top, it felt as if the entire spiral structure had awakened; it trembled violently as tension filled the air. Suddenly, a brilliant beam of light shot down from above like a sword piercing through space, illuminating everything in sacred and solemn radiance.
"Get down!" Jack's voice rang out with undeniable urgency as he pushed me aside just in time to avoid that sudden burst of light. As we steadied ourselves, a colossal figure descended from above with a thunderous roar—it was a heavily armored mechanical guardian whose eyes glowed ominously red as if peering into our deepest fears.
Jack and I fought with all our might against it, but its attacks were too fierce for us to get close. Just when we were struggling against this formidable foe, I noticed an unusual symbol on its chest that resembled astonishingly well with those constellation patterns on the walls of the Hanging Gardens.
"Jack! Attack its chest symbol!" I shouted hoarsely, pointing desperately at it. Jack's eyes flashed with determination as we quickly adjusted our strategy to concentrate all our power on that point. With an ear-splitting roar, we finally cracked open a gaping wound in its chest; its massive body collapsed into heaps of scrap metal and dust.
Breathless and standing atop that wreckage, our eyes fell upon a chip that had fallen from within the mechanical guardian—four bold characters read "Wuji Technology," reminding us of all that lay behind this conspiracy and power.
I looked up towards that lofty pinnacle where the Stardust Fragment floated quietly; no longer mere cold objects but seemingly alive, radiating warm and mysterious light that beckoned me closer. I reached out my trembling hand to gently touch that Stardust Fragment; instantly, a warm and powerful force surged into me resonating with my previous Sun Fragment—it contained not only secrets of stars but also guidance toward our path ahead.
With the power of the Stardust Fragment, we left Babylon and embarked on a journey to find the next Time Fragment. The ancient land, along with the secrets and wonders it held, slowly sank back into the depths of history as we departed.
