I picked up my phone to check for a signal and looked around at my surroundings. The inside of the train carriage felt like a world cut off from reality, with absolutely no signal at all. Lu Yuanbai also tentatively moved his hand, but he still couldn't connect to the outside world. It seemed we were isolated by an invisible force, losing contact with the world outside.
We searched the carriage like headless flies, but found no useful clues. The surroundings were eerily quiet, so silent it made one feel uneasy. The atmosphere in the entire carriage was stifling, as if even the air had solidified. I forced myself to calm down, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. However, when I opened my eyes again, that feeling of being trapped intensified.
"Is this damn train trying to trap us all here?" My voice nearly erupted in a shout; I couldn't let this fear take hold of me. I understood that fear could be contagious, and despair could destroy everything. The train had completely isolated us from the outside world; this carriage felt like a sealed iron box, weighing heavily on me.
"Xiao Yangxia, we can't just give up easily; there must be another way out," Lu Yuanbai said as he put down what he was holding and turned to look at me. His eyes sparkled with determination, like a beacon of light in the darkness. I clenched my teeth and nodded. Now, we could only rely on ourselves to find answers.
At that moment, a faint sound of footsteps came from the other end of the carriage. The footsteps were soft and slow, as if someone was leisurely strolling. However, to us, that sound was like thunder on a clear day. I suddenly turned my head in that direction. A passenger dressed in a black coat was slowly walking toward us. His face was hidden in the shadow of his hat, with only a pair of unfathomable eyes visible, making it impossible to discern his thoughts.
Both Lu Yuanbai and I were extremely shocked. We never expected that there would be someone else on this train. He walked over slowly, but there was an indescribable authority about him, as if he were the true master of this train.
"This train... seems a bit off," he said. His voice was deep and slow, each word filled with an undeniable sense of authority, as if he knew everything. This tone naturally sparked intense curiosity, making us eager to learn more about him.
Lu Yuanbai and I exchanged a glance, both showing surprise. "Who exactly are you?" Lu Yuanbai couldn't help but ask again.
The mysterious passenger slowly approached and sat down in front of us. He lifted his head, revealing his face. It was a pale, bloodless visage with distinct facial features: a high nose and thin lips, exuding an indescribable air of indifference.
"This train is actually a curse," he began slowly, his voice low and hoarse, as if recounting an ancient legend. "I am a passenger on this train." The corners of his mouth curled slightly into a self-deprecating smile. "I know some things that you do not."
A glint of intrigue flashed in Lu Yuanbai's eyes. "What is the true nature of this train?"
The mysterious passenger did not directly answer his question. He slowly took out a ticket from his pocket. The ticket looked somewhat worn, with peculiar symbols printed on it.
"What is this?" I asked, looking at him in confusion.
The mysterious passenger held the ticket up to my eyes and said slowly, "These symbols are both the key to unlocking the secrets and part of the curse."
