Never Enter the Elevator 9: The Secret of the Ritual

The blue light flickered in front of my eyes, a sense of unprecedented tension and anticipation washing over me. However, after a few flashes of that blue light, the elevator returned to calm, and I couldn't find a single sign of change. Was the ritual completed? 0

I took out my phone to check, but there was still no signal. Did I do something wrong? Or had I overlooked some crucial detail? I leaned against the elevator wall, closed my eyes, and forced myself to calm down. 0

I tried to recall if there was anything I had missed… I carefully reviewed the entire sequence of events, from the information I heard on the radio to that mysterious piece of paper, and then to the changes in the elevator… It seemed like nothing was overlooked. 0

I opened my eyes and surveyed everything in the elevator once more. Time passed second by second, yet there was still no movement inside. My despair grew; I felt trapped in a deadlock, unable to find an escape. 0

I leaned against the elevator wall and slowly slid down to the floor, cradling my head in my hands and desperately tugging at my hair. What on earth was happening… 0

I sighed and suddenly found it a bit amusing; what was I doing? How could I believe the words of a mysterious piece of paper and a broken radio? In anger, I grabbed that piece of paper, intending to throw it away forcefully. But just as I lifted it high, I suddenly stopped. 0

Under the dim light of the elevator, that piece of paper revealed content that had not been visible before. I quickly picked up my flashlight to illuminate the surface of the paper. Sure enough, a square with a notch appeared on it, containing three items needed for the ritual— a mirror, a watch, and a photograph. 0

At the notch of the square were some symbols I couldn't understand, which matched the strange symbols in the elevator perfectly. As light passed through it, a short piece of text emerged from where the ink had originally stained black on the paper. 0

I held my breath, my eyes close to the paper, deciphering it word by word. 0
"…within a square, its objects return to their place. Where there is a deficiency, Lord's Eye Presenting to Heaven..." 0
I repeated this sentence in my mind, trying to understand its meaning. 0
"Within a square" must refer to the square with a gap drawn on this paper. 0
"Where there is a deficiency..." Does it mean I need to fill in this gap? 0
"Lord's Eye Presenting to Heaven... what does that mean?" 0
I really couldn't figure it out! 0
No one ever said that being a Bounty Hunter in a secret realm required language skills! 0
The paper in my hand kept spinning thoughts in my mind. 0
Although I didn't fully understand, I could guess some things. 0
"Objects" might refer to some kind of item, while "Lord's Eye" could be the name of something or possibly a nickname for someone, similar to how male protagonists in web novels often refer to female protagonists as "Jun Jun" or "A Jun." 0
But if that's all there is, what do these terms have to do with the elevator? 0
I immediately put the paper back in its place and began to ponder. 0
The words "square," "its objects," and "Lord's Eye" seemed to have no special meaning on their own, but when combined, they might represent something significant. 0
For example, "square" in classical literature refers to something rectangular, likely indicating that it pertains to a square space. 0
"Its objects" could refer to items with special functions. 0
As it stands, it seems to relate to the few items I just found that bore that strange symbol. 0
