Never Enter the Elevator 8: This ritual feels wrong

I opened my eyes and scanned my surroundings. 0
Back to the past? How do I get there? 0
I looked at the broom in my hand. Am I supposed to use this? 0
With this piece of junk, I doubt even Harry Potter could manage it. 0
Complete the ritual... 0
I recalled the pattern drawn on that piece of paper. 0
The ritual from the book? 0
That strange rectangular shape that looked like a television, with a person inside. 0
Could that be the ritual? 0
I glanced around; there didn't seem to be a suitable place to perform that ritual here. 0
But... if it were really that easy to complete the ritual, I should have left this wretched place long ago. 0
Or perhaps, in this location, the ritual cannot be completed at all. 0
I thought for a moment and looked at the radio. 0
If not here, then it must be... 0
I lifted my gaze toward the elevator. 0
In this building, the elevator seemed the most peculiar. 0
Maybe the secret lies there. 0
I gripped the broom and stood up. 0
No matter what, I should give it a try first. 0
After all, I have no other leads. 0
I walked through the dimly lit corridor and arrived at the elevator. 0
I pressed the call button, and the elevator doors slowly opened. 0
I took a deep breath to calm myself and stepped inside. 0

Aside from the strange symbols on the wall, this was an ordinary elevator. However, instead of pressing the close button, I wedged the radio against the elevator door. This way, the door wouldn't close, and the radio wouldn't interfere with my ritual. 0

I took out the piece of paper and, using the patterns on it as a guide, arranged the collected items in their corresponding positions inside the elevator. After placing the last item, I stepped back, clasped my hands together, and waited anxiously. 0

I silently recited various prayers in my mind, hoping to see some changes in the elevator—any response at all would indicate that the ritual had begun to take effect. But… 0

Nothing happened. 0

I frowned. Was there something I overlooked? But I had placed everything I could find here. 0

I looked around, my gaze landing on the patterns on the elevator walls. Wait… these patterns… Could they be the key to the ritual? 0

A sudden realization struck me. I hurriedly pulled out my pocket knife and began to carve the patterns from the wall onto the elevator floor. 0

I watched excitedly, hoping my guess was correct. Once finished, I took a deep breath and stepped back again. This time, it should work. 0

I nervously stared at the elevator door, silently reciting names of deities in my mind. Suddenly, the elevator shook. 0

I jumped in surprise and quickly steadied myself against the wall. The shaking intensified, and I even heard a clicking sound. 0

Was this… the ritual activating? 0

I anxiously focused on what was happening inside the elevator, praying silently. 0

I was taken aback for a moment. What was happening? Why did it stop? 0
Suddenly, a blue light flashed in the elevator, and I widened my eyes in surprise. 0
Is this... the ritual starting to take effect? 0
However, the blue light illuminated the dust particles in the air, as if I were surrounded by a sea of stars. 0
I looked at the paper in my hand, then at the items placed in the elevator and the marks on the walls. Everything matched, so why was there no change? 0
I quickly stepped back a few paces, clasped my hands together, and nervously waited. 0
In my heart, I kept silently chanting, "Amitabha, Infinite Heavenly Sovereign, Amen Amen, please show your power!" 0
