Before Fu Lianyin entered, Dai Chun Ni, though not favored, would occasionally receive visits from Yun Yang in her room for a "chat." Some maids and servants would also attend to her out of respect for the Third Master. While she was doing everything she could to conceive a child, Fu Lianyin walked in. 0

Not only did Yun Yang start to treat her as if she were invisible, but he also occasionally subjected her to Fu Lianyin's ridicule and mockery. As a concubine, she had little status in the household, and being unfavored made her feel even more neglected. Thus, Dai Chun Ni had no qualifications to fight back, let alone seek revenge. Living in such a dependent state was particularly stifling and difficult for her. 0

Just as she lamented her unfortunate fate and the unfairness of life, Fu Lianyin's eight-month-old son passed away. In an instant, the usually proud and domineering Fu Lianyin appeared as wilted as a frostbitten eggplant, spending her days weeping and wearing a sorrowful expression. Dai Chun Ni knew the opportunity had come. 0

Taking advantage of Fu Lianyin's grief over losing her child and their shared jealousy towards the Yue Clan, she successfully sowed discord between the Third House and the Second House. 0

"You don't need to remind me," Fu Lianyin said with a sullen face while sitting on the edge of the bed, tightly clutching the handkerchief in her hand. "The Second House 'owes' my son a life; I will never forget this in my lifetime." She paused and lifted her eyelids to glance at Dai Chun Ni, her tone darkening. "It was all your rotten idea. Do you know what conditions the Second House agreed to for adopting Seventh Young Lady into the Third House?" 0

Dai Chun Ni stood by the bedpost opposite Fu Lianyin, glancing at the "sleeping" Yun Kexin before smirking nonchalantly. "What conditions?" 0

"Adoption is possible, but in the future, Yun Kexin's marriage must be decided by the Second House; the Third House cannot interfere." 0

Fu Lianyin spoke through gritted teeth but lowered her sharp voice as if afraid of waking Yun Kexin. "What ridiculous conditions! I've raised her for over ten years, and in the end, who she marries has to be decided by the Second House? What do we gain from this? How can there be such a good deal? Hmph!" 0

Dai Chun Ni was taken aback, her eyes darting around: she hadn't expected the Second House to be so formidable! Initially, she had incited Fu Lianyin to use their advantageous background to pressure the elders of the Yun clan into agreeing that once a child was born in the Second House—regardless of gender—they would be adopted into the Third House. Now that their goal had been achieved, she hadn't anticipated that there would be such "intricacies" involved. 0

"The Second House is truly something else," Dai Chun Ni sneered sarcastically. "On the surface, they pretend to be generous and sincere by agreeing to adopt the child into the Third House, but who would have thought they left such a trap? I really can't understand how the clan elders would agree to such exploitative terms! Even more baffling is how our master could consent; isn't this clearly a scheme against us?! If it were me, I would suspect that the clan elders are intimidated by the identity of the Second House's marquis." 0

Dai Chun Ni furrowed her brows in anger while secretly laughing at Fu Lianyin's predicament: no matter what happened now, she had already agreed; wasn't it too late for her to get anxious? 0

However, Fu Lianyin seemed to see through Dai Chun Ni's thoughts and angrily said: 0

"When my husband and I first heard these conditions, we disagreed not because of profit or loss but because it was fundamentally unreasonable. Since Yun Kexin is being adopted into the Third House, then she is one of us; since she will call my husband and me 'Mother' and 'Father,' then naturally her marriage should be decided by us—this is only right. But when it comes to the Second House, they create these complications." Fu Lianyin paused and turned to glare at Yun Kexin's back before sneering coldly. "Are they trying to make us raise this girl for nothing? No way!" 0

Fu Lianyin's phoenix eyes flashed with a cold glint as her hand unconsciously tightened on Yun Kexin's shoulder. Yun Kexin winced in pain but held back her voice, straining to listen to the conversation that followed. 0

"Ah, why can't my sister remain calm?" Dai Chun Ni smiled, a strange glimmer passing through her eyes. "Have you forgotten? When we discussed the purpose of the adoption, it wasn't for her marriage; it was to take revenge for your late young master. This girl is merely a pawn for our Third House to retaliate against the Second House. With her in our hands, the Second House's plans will likely come to nothing." 0

Upon hearing "the late young master" and the implication in the last sentence, Fu Lianyin's eyes turned icy. She shifted her gaze to Dai Chun Ni and said coldly, "Be more straightforward." 0

"My dear sister, children are the easiest to teach and the easiest to manipulate," Dai Chun Ni managed to suppress a laugh. "Now that Yun Kexin is living under the watchful eyes of the Third House, won't you, as her mother, establish a good relationship with her? Let her know how much you love her as a mother. By then, your mother-daughter bond will be so deep that it will be difficult for the Second House to interfere," Dai Chun Ni smiled without showing her teeth, speaking mysteriously. "As for what comes next, my clever sister, I won't spell it out for you." 0

Her dark skin seemed like excellent camouflage, allowing her face to blend into the shadows of the dim room. 0

"You and the master are quite in sync!" After a moment, Fu Lianyin glanced at Dai Chun Ni and said with a mix of sarcasm and jealousy. 0

Dai Chun Ni was confused and asked in response, "In sync with the master? What do you mean by that?" 0

"The master's thoughts are similar to yours," Fu Lianyin replied reluctantly. 0

"What? Sister means that I think alike with the master?" Dai Chun Ni's face turned a shade of red as she shyly nodded. "Is this true?" 0

Fu Lianyin couldn't stand Dai Chun Ni's coyness and felt disdainful inside. With a hint of impatience, she said: 0

"The master's intention is that since the Seventh Young Lady has been adopted by the Third House, she will inevitably live with us and spend every day together. In time, she will naturally become close to us from the Third House. At that point, Xiner will naturally listen to us more easily, and marriage will also become more agreeable for her 'Mother and Father,'" Fu Lianyin paused slightly, a mocking smile appearing on her lips. "You think the master has as many ulterior motives as you do? Let me tell you, no matter how dissatisfied he is, he still favors the Yun family. He values 'family harmony' above all else. Don't be foolish and spread rumors outside; if you offend anyone from the Yun family, I won't be able to protect you." 0

Fu Lianyin's voice was not loud, nor was her tone harsh, but her words were like daggers—swift and sharp—leaving no room for evasion. 0

Dai Chun Ni suddenly raised her head, startled, but forced a smile and said, "Sister, how can you say such things? We have been sisters for more than a year or two. When have you ever seen me gossiping? I just couldn't bear to see you being 'bullied' and wanted to speak a word of justice." 0

Fu Lianyin was too lazy to pay attention to Dai Chun Ni's sweet talk and coldly replied, "Just remember that, sister." She looked at Dai Chun Ni with a chilling gaze and warned, "Now we are in the same boat; we rise and fall together. If what is said tonight leaks out—do you understand?" 0

"Third Lady, don't worry. Chun Ni will remember," Dai Chun Ni dropped the polite terms of 'sister' to show sincerity and seriousness. 0

"Go back and rest," Fu Lianyin said, glancing at Yun Kexin in the bed. "I will stay here with Seventh Young Lady for a while. When the master arrives, I will have the Nursemaid take her away." 0

"Yes, Chun Ni takes her leave." Dai Chun Ni respectfully bid farewell and left. 0

Not long after Dai Chun Ni left the bedroom, Yun Yang returned to the room. 0

"Master, you're back," Fu Lianyin greeted him with a smile. "Why did you disappear after the adoption ceremony? Where did you go?" 0

"I was in the Main Hall talking with the clan elders and your brothers-in-law," Yun Yang replied leisurely as Fu Lianyin helped him remove his outer garments. He casually glanced at the sleeping Yun Kexin on the bed and curiously asked, "Seventh Young Lady is sleeping here tonight?" 0

"No, it was Consort who stayed with Yun Kexin while waiting for you to return. I will have the Nursemaid take her away now." 0
