"Who told you not to fight back? I want you to have a fair battle with me!" The girl slammed her gun onto the ground and shouted loudly. 0

"Oh! Got it, got it! But first, let's exchange names! What's your name?" Ling Mo Xie casually leaned against the door behind him, placing one hand on the girl's shoulder, twirling a stray hair with his fingers, and said with a smile. 0

The girl was taken aback and replied, "My name is Sun Xiao Xiao, and also... don't put your hand on my shoulder!" Saying this, she swung the gun barrel towards Ling Mo Xie's hand. 0

To her astonishment, she missed entirely. When she looked up again, Ling Mo Xie had already vanished from sight. She immediately turned her head and looked around, only to see the quiet street outside the Ling residence, with a flicker of flame in the distance. 0

Hmph! I don’t have time to fight with a young lady! I wonder how Zhou Xinyi is doing. Is she caught up in something that’s keeping her from coming back? 0

While Ling Mo Xie was lost in thought, he continued walking towards the outskirts of the city. The townspeople watched him as they whispered among themselves, occasionally bursting into laughter. 0

Unknowingly, a warm smile appeared on Ling Mo Xie's face. Days like this aren't so bad after all, if it weren't for those perplexing doubts and if his parents were by his side. 0

Hongfeng Town is not close to Tianfeng City. Ling Mo Xie arrived at the city gate where horse-drawn carriages were rented, preparing to take one. He didn’t use the Ling family's carriage; perhaps he didn’t want to owe them anything. Aside from the old man, no one there made him feel like family. 0

"Here!" Ling Mo Xie tossed a spirit stone to the middle-aged driver and climbed aboard. 0

The carriage was large but quite simple, similar to cars from his past life; it wouldn't leave until it was full. 0

Fortunately, when Ling Mo Xie boarded, there were already quite a few people inside. 0

He found a relatively spacious spot to sit down and began to lean against the carriage wall to rest his eyes. 0

"1...2..." After a while, the driver started counting and prepared to drive out of the city. Just then, he pulled out a crystal-clear bead that instantly turned red. The driver's expression changed as he said, "Everyone get off! The legendary Fire Demon has boarded our carriage!" 0

Upon hearing the driver's words, everyone in the carriage panicked and rushed towards the exit. Some women even screamed as if something terrifying had happened. 0

Ling Mo Xie furrowed his brow. What is a Fire Demon? How could the people of this world possibly fear ghosts? Even ordinary commoners would know a few spells. 0

Ling Mo Xie grabbed a young man who was about to get off the carriage, ready to ask a question, but then he felt something tighten around his leg, as if something was holding onto him. Looking down, he saw a pair of fiery red eyes peering out from beneath a silk-covered seat, filled with fear, pleading, and some complex emotions. 0

"What are you doing?" The young man whom Ling Mo Xie had grabbed shook off his hand and hurried toward the carriage door. 0

"Ah, sorry." Ling Mo Xie smiled apologetically and looked down. Is this what they call a Fire Demon? Those eyes, aside from the color being off, clearly belonged to a human! 0

"Hey! Little brother, come down quickly! I heard that Fire Demons have been roaming around our area recently. The Lord of the City specifically distributed spirit beads. According to this spirit bead, the Fire Demon is nearby. I heard that Fire Demons love to steal from carriages; it must be on the carriage!" The driver said, holding up the glowing red bead. 0

"Oh! Okay!" Ling Mo Xie nodded in response. 0

Immediately, he felt a tightness in his calf. A smile crept onto Ling Mo Xie's lips; thankfully, he wore a cloak today. 0

He reached under the seat and grabbed the "Fire Demon" by its collar, wrapping it in his cloak as he got off the carriage. 0

Huh? It's so light! Taking advantage of others not paying attention, Ling Mo Xie turned around and opened his cloak to look down. To his surprise, it was a child around six years old. The most striking feature was their bright red hair and fiery red eyes. Their clothes were tattered and dirty, and they were tightly hugging Ling Mo Xie's thigh, looking up at him with a pitiful expression. 0

"Hey! Little brother, you can get on the carriage now. What are you doing?" A deep voice came from behind. Ling Mo Xie quickly hid the child and turned around. 0

It turned out to be a bearded man; everyone else had already gotten back into the carriage. 0

Since they had already checked, the driver drove away without hesitation. Inside the carriage, the terrified citizens were discussing among themselves. 0

"What’s going on? Are the spirit beads given by the Lord of the City reliable? There was clearly a reaction, but we didn’t find anything." 0

"Exactly! If that Fire Demon is on the carriage, I really don’t know what we would do. I heard that when Fire Demons get angry, they set things on fire; ordinary water can’t extinguish it at all." 0

"You all, stop worrying so much. It's not that easy to encounter one. I've heard that in the past thousand years, only one has appeared..." 0

"Hey, uncle, what's going on with this Fire Demon?" Ling Mo Xie looked down at the child squatting at his feet, who had hidden into the hollow of the stool, and asked the uncle beside him who was calling him to get in the carriage. 0

"Oh? You don't know yet? This happened not long ago," the uncle pondered before speaking. 0

"A village under Skywind City was burned to the ground. Those who went to investigate tried everything but couldn't extinguish the fire. Since then, there have been reports of Carriages being burned, all engulfed in flames that couldn't be put out. Just a few days ago, that Carriage that was burned was one that came from Skywind City. Now the Fire Demon has probably come to the city, so we must be extremely careful!" 0

"Has anyone seen the Fire Demon? What does it look like?" Ling Mo Xie asked casually. 0

"The Fire Demon? Who knows what it looks like? After all, those who have seen it are dead. But if I had to guess, it should be a flame? Or maybe a terrifying monster covered in fire with fangs?" The uncle rested his chin on his hand and thought for a moment before gesturing as he spoke. 0

"Hehe!" Ling Mo Xie bit his lip, his shoulders shaking continuously because after using the Detection Skill on that child, the words "Fire Spirit" were clearly floating above his head. 0

Although the Common People referred to it as a Fire Demon, Ling Mo Xie thought that was because they didn't know its true form and simply named it a ghost out of fear! 0

"Little brother, what's wrong? Are you okay?" The uncle sitting beside Ling Mo Xie noticed him trembling and quickly asked with concern. 0

"I'm fine!" Ling Mo Xie shook his head and replied. He just found it somewhat amusing; this little rascal in front of him was the Fire Demon, which was completely different from what the Common People imagined. 0
