After eating and drinking to their fill, the Elder clapped his hands, and Ling Mo Xie saw several people carrying a wooden platform coming from afar, seemingly with something placed on it.
Seeing Ling Mo Xie's puzzled expression, the Elder chuckled and said, "That is the ashes of our Ancestor. Every time we hold a ceremony, we honor the ashes of the Ancestor."
Ashes? Ling Mo Xie's eyes narrowed. Could this be... his unexpected surprise? But these are the ashes of someone else's Ancestor! What could he possibly do to take them? Ling Mo Xie steadied his mind; regardless, for the sake of the mission, he had to get that Urn. He decided to observe the situation first.
Soon, the platform supported by four wooden legs was placed in the center of the gathered crowd. The Elder told Ling Mo Xie to kneel before the altar. Ling Mo Xie thought that since it was a tribute to a predecessor, he did not resist. The tribe's residents began to dance around the altar, chanting songs that Ling Mo Xie could not understand.
The Elder beside him clasped his hands together in prayer, kneeling devoutly while murmuring something. Ling Mo Xie curled his lips; it felt superstitious, and he had expected the ceremony to be more spectacular! It was just like a temple fair back on Earth.
While Ling Mo Xie was looking around, the System continuously prompted him with Health Points +10. However, since his Health Points were already full, it had no effect. After a while, the System even began to indicate an increase in Health Points limit +1... attack power limit +1...
So magical? Ling Mo Xie was taken aback. Why bother with cultivation? If he let the Azure Wind Tribe hold ceremonies for him every day, wouldn't his cultivation level rise rapidly?
Of course, Ling Mo Xie quickly realized that this was just wishful thinking. Once various numerical limits increased by ten, they stopped rising. He only saw that the title of Warrior in the System slightly lit up, and a +100 appeared next to his various stats. It seemed that this title needed to be activated; fortunately, he participated in this ceremony.
The ceremony itself was not very complicated; it merely involved paying respects to that Urn covered with a white cloth on the altar while the residents sang and danced to complete it.
The Elder happily chatted with Ling Mo Xie, but Ling Mo Xie was preoccupied with how to obtain that Urn. After all, it was not easy to bring up such matters, especially since it was not an ordinary Urn but one belonging to someone else's Ancestor—making it even harder to broach.
The Elder, being older and having eaten more salt than Ling Mo Xie had eaten rice, quickly noticed that Ling Mo Xie's mind was elsewhere and asked curiously, "What's wrong? Are you tired? If so, go rest!"
"No! I'm thinking about that Urn!" Ling Mo Xie blurted out as he was lost in thought upon hearing the Elder's question. Realizing what he had said too quickly, he hurriedly covered his mouth and waved his hands in explanation: "Elder, I’m not trying to take that Urn! I mean... I am..."
Ling Mo Xie was momentarily at a loss for words. Although the task was to take the Urn outside and bury it, he had indeed been thinking about that Urn. He had spoken too quickly and now didn't know how to explain himself without being misunderstood by the Elder.
However, to Ling Mo Xie's surprise, the Elder did not get angry. Instead, he sighed with concern and said, "I believe that since you want that Urn, you must have your own reasons."
Ling Mo Xie quickly explained, "It's because I was entrusted by someone. I heard that your Ancestor is not from this place and I want to take them back to their homeland for burial!"
"I see. You are quite thoughtful. However, that is still the ashes of our Ancestor, and I cannot simply give it to you. How about this? There is a Great Demon behind those Azure Sword Demons. Given that the Great Demon lives nearby and has killed so many of our Azure Sword Demons, I am truly worried about the safety of our tribe. If you can retrieve the demon core from that Great Demon, I will give you the Urn!" the Elder said with a sigh.
Ling Mo Xie was taken aback; this sounded very much like an NPC giving a quest! So, the demon core of that Great Demon was indeed the quest item?
With this thought in mind, Ling Mo Xie quickly responded and asked the Elder, "Can you provide some information about that Great Demon? I can't just go looking for it without any leads!"
"Young brother, you must be careful when dealing with that Great Demon!" The Elder looked at Ling Mo Xie, his gaze distant as if lost in thought. He slowly said, "It was forty years ago when that monster was still a small demon. It transformed into human form and pretended to be a wanderer who came to our tribe. By chance, he fell in love with my eldest daughter. But good times didn’t last long; when we discovered he was a monster, out of love for my daughter, I ordered him to be expelled from the tribe, and my daughter died of depression."
The Elder sighed deeply, wiping away tears as he continued, "But what I didn't expect was that when we drove that monster away, he secretly took three of our ancestors' Urns. Our ancestors were powerful beings, and their ashes still contained remnants of their immense energy. With the help of those Urns, that monster quickly grew into a formidable demon, seeking revenge against our tribe!"
Three more Urns? As long as he defeated that Great Demon, his mission would be complete? Ling Mo Xie's eyes lit up, but then he frowned again. This so-called Great Demon was so significant; four Urns were connected to him. Did this mean that the monster was truly powerful?
Thus, Ling Mo Xie quickly turned to the sorrowful and tearful Elder and asked, "How powerful is this Great Demon, really?"
Hearing Ling Mo Xie's question brought the Elder back to reality. He wiped his eyes and said, "Our Azure Wind Tribe has lost its cultivation methods for over a thousand years. I have never fought against that Great Demon. The only thing I can remind you of is that there have been reports of cultivators at the Spiritual Void Stage and in their Fasting Period disappearing near our tribe. It seems likely that it is the work of that monster."
"Fasting Period?" Ling Mo Xie exclaimed in surprise. He had just reached level forty-two and barely entered the late stage of the Spiritual Void Stage. He was still five levels away from even reaching the early stage of the Fasting Period!
Based on the importance of this monster, it seems to be more than just a simple Lingxu in its early stages!
Ling Mo Xie frowned and fell into deep thought. Now at level forty-two, with two powerful skills, and if he were fully equipped with a complete set of Orange Equipment, along with the Warrior Title, challenging a boss four or five levels higher should not be a problem. However, if that boss is above level forty-seven, he would have no confidence at all.
