Liu Jian did not really mean to go fishing. Hearing the voice of Autumn Wind, his hand naturally fell, and he turned to look. Autumn Wind walked slowly into the courtyard and stood before him.
Autumn Wind's delicate body just reached Liu Jian's shoulder, but the sharpness reflected in her gaze made Liu Jian involuntarily take a step back.
Meeting Autumn Wind's eyes, Liu Jian spoke first, his voice carrying a hint of calmness: "What do you really mean?" He pointed to the bouquet in Jolie's arms behind him. "Is it really what she said?"
He knew what Jolie had just done!
Autumn Wind sneered, meeting Liu Jian's gaze firmly and said, "Yes..." No matter what Jolie had done, Autumn Wind affirmed it all. She thought there was no point in refuting since she wouldn't speak well of herself.
"Do you really hate me that much?" Liu Jian's voice choked as he faced Autumn Wind's eyes, asking sorrowfully.
"No!" Autumn Wind replied immediately, her eyes still fixed on Liu Jian, calm and nothing but calm.
Without love, how could there be hate? It wasn't hypocrisy; even to this day, she still hadn't fallen in love with Liu Jian.
"You... I don't believe it!" Liu Jian's lips trembled.
Autumn Wind had no intention of continuing the entanglement. Her low voice came through, "You should go; I really need to rest."
As she turned to leave, her arm was firmly grasped by a strong hand.
"Please, make it clear for me!" Liu Jian pleaded. "What exactly happened between us? Please tell me!"
"Don't you know what happened?" The fish reacted and tried to pry Liu Jian's hand away from Autumn Wind, but his grip was as hard as a rock. "Let go! Do you want to expose what you did with that bitch in front of so many people?"
His gaze dimmed, and Liu Jian felt desolate. He slowly loosened his grip on Autumn Wind's arm and met her eyes. "I know it was indeed my fault; please give me a chance... Autumn Wind, I beg you!" His voice was low, filled with desperate pleading.
Autumn Wind did not dare to make eye contact with Liu Jian. The inner turmoil had already made her suffer beyond words. What she needed to face was not what had happened between Liu Jian and Jolie, but rather the fact that nothing had happened between herself and Liu Jian.
Breaking free from Liu Jian's entanglement, Autumn Wind strode towards the villa. Jolie suddenly rushed in front of her, arms outstretched, blocking her path. Holding a bouquet in her hands, the flowers drooped downwards as if about to fall, "Don't go..."
"You..." Autumn Wind's previously softened gaze sharpened again, now laced with a hint of mockery.
Jolie, who intended to boldly confront Autumn Wind, felt a sense of fear from that look. Her loud voice turned subdued, "Don't go. If you don't want Liu Jian, then give him to me!"
Jolie's words earned her a mocking cold laugh from Autumn Wind. "He's a person, not an object to be given away. Haven't I already given him to you?" Autumn Wind reached out and took the bouquet from Jolie's hands, inhaling the fragrance deeply before pressing it against Jolie's chest, "Here you go..."
Initially puzzled by Liu Jian's furious reaction, Jolie suddenly realized upon hearing Autumn Wind. This bouquet was given by Liu Jian to Autumn Wind, yet Autumn Wind... Stunned, she weakly accepted the flowers and stumbled back a few steps, allowing Autumn Wind to pass.
Entering the living room with large strides, the sound of Liu Jian's heart-wrenching roar echoed behind her. His fists pounded heavily on the ground, "Bang! Bang! Bang!" Each sound struck like a blow to Autumn Wind's heart.
She had never hated herself as much as she did now; clearly it was her fault, yet she forced others to bear the blame.
As Autumn Wind went upstairs, Yu still wore several designer silk scarves. Just before she entered her room, a low voice came from behind, "I think you're worse than me, this bad woman!" Without waiting for a response from Autumn Wind, Yu dashed back to her own room.
The events that had just transpired left her drenched in sweat from fear.
Yu's words pierced deep into Autumn Wind's heart. Leaning against the door, she slid down onto the floor.
The next morning.
The time and place for Huang Zihe's invitation to dinner with Autumn Wind arrived as scheduled.
Looking at the message on her phone, Autumn Wind sneered. It was indeed not the last Western restaurant; it had changed to the restaurant on the 101st floor—wasn't that where Qiu Mowen had once dated a woman on New Year's Eve that year?
She still inexplicably associated things with Qiu Mowen, and each time it was a torment for Autumn Wind.
After lightly replying, Autumn Wind began to get ready.
She hadn’t asked Qiu Ruolan about today’s schedule, and Qiu Ruolan hadn’t called either. She was probably bitterly smiling at the photo in today’s Newspaper where she hadn’t zipped up her jacket properly, exposing her back—various Talking Heads had already started to criticize Qiu Ruolan for her inappropriate visit to the orphanage.
The joy she had originally hoped for did not appear with Qiu Ruolan's criticism; instead, she was overwhelmed with self-blame and frustration, making it hard to breathe.
When the designated time arrived at the restaurant, Lin Xiang and the Prince appeared alongside Huang Zihe. Upon seeing Autumn Wind, Lin Xiang stood up with a guilty expression and sincerely bowed to her, saying, “I’m sorry, it’s all my fault, I truly apologize!” His tone was earnest, and his voice was hoarse.
Autumn Wind smiled lightly. “It’s all in the past; it’s of no use now!” She gently sat down on the chair, took a slight breath, and casually looked around. Which table had he been sitting at back then?
“Don’t worry; nothing will happen today!” The Prince's bright voice came through, more melodious than Huang Zihe's. His bright eyes stared at Autumn Wind for a while. “Ah, Sister Qiu has really suffered!”
That pair of bright eyes staring at Autumn Wind made her uncomfortable. She met his gaze and smiled gently. “Just call me Wendy!” She let out a dry laugh. “It’s all in the past; there’s no need to dwell on it!”
The Prince's gaze shifted from Autumn Wind's face to Huang Zihe, snorting disdainfully through his nose. “Does Ahe think so too?”
The Prince's words struck Huang Zihe's heart, causing him to feel a pang. After meeting the Prince's bright eyes for a moment, he eventually lost ground and could only speak softly to avoid awkwardness. “Yes, it’s all in the past; nothing worse will happen in the future!”
“Let’s hope so!” The Prince interjected.
Autumn Wind awkwardly picked up the coffee cup beside her, stirred it, and took a gentle sip.
The meal was tasteless, and Lin Xiang's guilt, along with the awkward tension between the prince and Huang Zihe, left Autumn Wind feeling at a loss. More often than not, she simply turned her head away, gazing out at the dazzling and beautiful night view of Taipei, a wave of bitterness rising in her heart.
She missed Qiu Mowen so much; a strong feeling kept knocking on her heart, urging her to leap from here, perhaps she would immediately see him.
Due to the presence of reporters, Autumn Wind did not leave with them. After Huang Zihe and the others departed, she sat quietly for a moment. Once Uncle Liu called to say he was ready, she hurriedly took the elevator down.
The spring night always carried a sense of tranquility. As she entered the Villa Area, Autumn Wind suddenly felt an impulse to get out and walk. "Uncle Liu, stop the car; I want to walk home..."
Uncle Liu stopped the car. "Sister, are you sure? It's quite a long way..."
Before Uncle Liu could finish, Autumn Wind had already jumped out of the car. She waved at him to leave and deliberately walked toward the winding path beside the main road.
The thin high heels clicked on the gravel, making her walk laborious. After not going far, Autumn Wind had no choice but to return to the smooth pavement and slowly headed home.
A honking sound came from behind her. Autumn Wind stepped aside to let the car pass. The vehicle flashed its lights at her and came to a stop beside her. The window rolled down, revealing Qiu Hai's distinct face. "Hi, are you out for a walk?" His brow furrowed slightly.
Autumn Wind was unwilling to engage; she glanced over and continued walking forward. However, Qiu Hai drove closely behind her, quickening his pace. "Oh!" she exclaimed as she stumbled and fell to the ground. Not wanting to lose face, she quickly got back up and tried to move on. Qiu Hai's car stopped, and he opened the door. "Get in; it's still a long way home!"
Having always been driven in and out of the Villa Area, Autumn Wind realized she had underestimated this distance. Looking ahead, she couldn't see her home at all; no wonder that fish had been so angry that time.
She pursed her lips and got into the car.
A smug smile appeared on Qiu Hai's face as if he had completely secured Autumn Wind's compliance. "Did you go out on a date tonight?"
Autumn Wind leaned slightly forward, rubbing her ankle. Ever since it had been chained during the kidnapping days ago, it would start to ache whenever she caught a chill.
Hearing Qiu Hai speak to her, Autumn Wind rolled her eyes and remained silent.
This reaction earned Qiu Hai a cold snort from his nose. "Did I offend you again recently?"
Autumn Wind still did not respond.
At that moment, the car suddenly stopped, and Autumn Wind was startled. Looking through the car window, she realized they had already arrived at her home. She straightened up, intending to open the door and get out, but the door was locked by Qiu Hai. She glared at him in anger.
He smiled slightly, "Want to get out? What’s wrong? Aren't you going to talk to me? At least say thank you!" As he spoke, Qiu Hai leaned a bit closer to Autumn Wind, his warm breath brushing against her face. His deep voice whispered in her ear, "Maybe this way you'll talk to me!"
What does he want? Autumn Wind stared wide-eyed at Qiu Hai. In the next second, his hands cupped her face, and his warm, soft lips pressed against her fragrant ones.
Her pupils dilated, and her mind went blank.
"Let go of me! Let go of me!" After the blankness faded, Autumn Wind shouted. She pushed Qiu Hai away with all her strength. She admitted that she had once been slightly infatuated with those lips, but at that moment, they made her feel nauseous.
Despite being pushed away by Autumn Wind, Qiu Hai still wore a smile on his face, grinning proudly. "Is this how you'll talk to me?" He seemed completely unfazed by Autumn Wind's anger, half-serious and half-mocking, with a hint of finality in his tone. "Has Qiu Mowen ever kissed you? Given his personality, he probably wouldn't even touch you!"
"Do you know him well?" Autumn Wind shouted angrily as she took the chance to open the car door and jump out.
"Wait!" Qiu Hai's voice came low and smooth, very seductive.
Autumn Wind's shoulders trembled as Qiu Hai got out of the car and walked around to stand in front of her. He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Don't you want to completely shake off Liu Jian?"
A mix of anger and fear flashed in Autumn Wind's eyes. "What do you want?!"
"Then hold me!" Qiu Hai replied briefly.
"How ridiculous, asking me to hold him," Autumn Wind glared at Qiu Hai.
"Can't you see Liu Jian standing by the window?" Qiu Hai answered softly.
A glance confirmed that there was indeed a figure at the window on the second floor of Liu Jian's villa. Autumn Wind surprisingly accepted Qiu Hai's suggestion, slowly raising her arms to embrace him.
Qiu Hai smiled even more triumphantly as he wrapped his arms around Autumn Wind, pulling her tightly into his embrace. His warm breath brushed against her ear, "You really don't like Liu Jian at all... Has someone told you he's bad?"
"I'm not a bad woman, I just..." Autumn Wind suddenly hesitated, wanting to struggle, but Qiu Hai tightened his grip even more.
"You just love Qiu Mowen more, right?" Qiu Hai continued after Autumn Wind paused.
Qiu Hai hit the nail on the head, causing tears to well up in Autumn Wind's eyes. She cried out softly, completely losing any strength to resist.
Liu Jian stood by the window, his expression serious as he watched Qiu Hai and Autumn Wind in each other's arms. His fists clenched tightly, pressing hard against the window ledge.
