Uncle Liu drove the car into the garage, hurriedly got out, and opened the door for Autumn Wind. Autumn Wind waved at him, signaling that she wouldn't get out and slid her phone open.
Huang Zihe's bright voice reached her ears, "Hi, Autumn Wind, long time no see..." Despite its brightness, there was a hint of unease in his tone.
Autumn Wind guessed that Huang Zihe was feeling guilty about her kidnapping. "Yeah, long time no see! You’re still in Taipei, right?"
Huang Zihe softly replied, "Mm," then hesitated, "Well, we don’t have anything going on. I think... I’d like to take you out for a meal... just to apologize!" His tone was stammering, and his face showed immense pain. If it weren't for his manager insisting he express some apology to Autumn Wind to maintain good relations with the higher-ups in HK and Qiu Ruolan, he wouldn’t have bothered to call her.
"A meal? I think that's unnecessary! What if there's another misunderstanding... Hehe!" Autumn Wind laughed self-deprecatingly. "I’d probably end up leaving without eating!"
A misunderstanding? Huang Zihe sneered inwardly. I wish you would just disappear; misunderstandings? Hmph, the more the better.
"Don't say that; it would make all of our team members feel bad. Lin Xiang has been upset for quite a while!" Huang Zihe continued. His concern for Lin Xiang was genuine; there was news that the woman had malicious intent because she saw the photos of Autumn Wind and Huang Zihe posted on Weibo, which had left Lin Xiang feeling guilty.
Autumn Wind remained silent as Huang Zihe continued, "Then it's settled... Just arrange the time and place, and I'll message you."
"Okay, but please don't let it be at that restaurant from last time..." Autumn Wind added with a hint of laughter.
Huang Zihe agreed and hung up the phone.
Autumn Wind looked at Uncle Liu waiting outside the car for her to get out and opened the door herself. "Uncle Liu, from now on at home, there’s no need for so many rules..."
"Okay, sister!"
As soon as Autumn Wind walked into the living room, she was stunned by what she saw. She hurriedly stepped back a few paces and ran to the courtyard to take a look at the villa, confirming she hadn’t gone to the wrong place before slowly making her way back into the living room.
Pointing at the clutter scattered on the floor, she screamed, "Uncle Liu, what is going on?"
Uncle Liu, following behind Autumn Wind, widened his eyes in shock at the scene before him. "I don't know! Where's Ahe? Where's Liu Gui'e?" he shouted, calling out Sister Liu's name.
From upstairs came the sound of hurried footsteps. Sister Liu appeared, holding Oke in her arms. Seeing the shocked faces of Autumn Wind and Uncle Liu, she turned and exclaimed, "Sister Jiang, Sister Jiang, my sister is back!"
Yü stepped out of her room with countless scarves draped over her arms and peeked down from the stairs. "Oh, Autumn Wind, you’re back so soon! I was just about to tidy up my old things!"
"Tidy up your old things? What do you mean? It's all here!" Her voice was sharp, filled with rare anger.
"Oh dear, with such a loud voice, your health must have recovered! Calm down; I only plan to stay with you for a few days, but I need to go out to work. I can’t just stay here and go back to my parents' place for clothes!" Yü walked toward the stairs and gently patted Autumn Wind's shoulder.
"You found a job?" Autumn Wind's face flushed slightly; she bit her lip in surprise and stared wide-eyed at Yü.
Nodding lightly, Yü gracefully twirled a few times in front of Autumn Wind. "Ah, back to my old profession—doing makeup and styling!"
Autumn Wind glanced at the clutter on the ground and suddenly felt deflated. For some reason, no matter what Yü did, Autumn Wind couldn't feel angry; a wave of fatigue washed over her as she weakly said, "Well, congratulations then. But are you going to clean this up yourself…?"
"Don't worry about that; I'll take care of it myself!" Yü interrupted Autumn Wind.
"That's good to hear, but you really have to do it yourself…" As Autumn Wind spoke, she walked upstairs. She first stood in front of Oke and gently kissed his forehead before turning to leave but suddenly remembered another question. "What about Oke while you're working?" She looked at Oke snuggled in Sister Liu's arms and exclaimed loudly, "You’re not planning anything with Sister Liu, are you?"
"You're clever! To make up for your loss, I'll cover half of Sister Liu's salary!" Yü squatted down to tidy up the designer bags as her voice came softly.
Autumn Wind shrugged and smiled faintly at her as she walked toward her room. "Sister Liu, I'm not having dinner tonight; I want plain porridge in the morning. Remember to make it for me…"
Closing the door, he lay down on the bed and blankly stared out the window.
It was already afternoon, and the sky began to darken. Murky sunlight streamed in through the window, casting a gloomy atmosphere over the entire room, making it feel quite oppressive.
On the low cabinet beside the bed lay a large sealed white envelope, which Uncle Liu had asked Yu to put in, containing the investigation reports of Qiu Hai and Jolie.
Propping his arm on the bed, he reached for it and was just about to open it when a commotion outside caught his attention. At first, Autumn Wind thought it was Yu making a racket in the living room and didn’t pay much attention. Then came the sound of car horns, and Autumn Wind realized something was happening outside.
He placed the partially opened envelope on the bed and got up to walk to the window to look out into the courtyard.
Jolie’s car was blocking the road right in the middle; behind it were two cars stuck in traffic. Squinting to see better, Autumn Wind recognized them as belonging to Liu Jian and Qiu Hai. Qiu Hai’s car happened to be parked right in front of Autumn Wind’s courtyard, with Liu Jian closely following behind.
Qiu Hai’s car was too high, blocking Liu Jian’s view. He leaned out of his window, looking completely clueless about what was happening, anxiously scanning around.
Autumn Wind found it quite amusing that Liu Jian was tailing Qiu Hai. Had he forgotten that he had moved next door?
In Autumn Wind’s mocking gaze, Liu Jian suddenly remembered he was doing something foolish. He flashed his brake lights, reversed to his villa’s entrance, honked twice, and then Old Li, wearing an apron, rushed out in a flustered manner to open the iron gate.
The sight of Old Li in an apron was genuinely funny, causing Autumn Wind to chuckle aloud.
After parking his car, Liu Jian walked over to Qiu Hai’s vehicle and leaned down to talk to him, gesturing towards his house to indicate that Qiu Hai could park there. Qiu Hai raised an eyebrow slightly; Autumn Wind noticed he was looking towards the window where he stood and hurriedly ducked away to avoid being seen.
Carrying a bouquet of flowers, Jolie emerged from the car. The vibrant roses emitted a fragrance that captivated everyone. Liu Jian froze for a moment; how did these flowers end up in Jolie’s hands?
With a bashful expression, Jolie shyly leaned against Liu Jian. He took a step back in disgust, but she followed closely behind him. Raising his arm as if to push her away, he glanced fearfully at Qiu Hai, mumbling, “Stay away from me, or I won’t hold back!”
Taking an exaggerated breath of the rose fragrance, with a look of intoxication, "Don't do that!" Jolie's hand had already brushed across Liu Jian's face.
Liu Jian, filled with disgust, raised his hand and grabbed Jolie's wrist. "Ah, it hurts!" Jolie cried out in a piercing voice.
Being too close to Liu Jian created a somewhat deafening illusion. Oh no, how could Qiu Hai also be Jolie's brother? If I do this, Qiu Hai... Qiu Hai's punch wouldn't feel good!
Thinking to himself, Liu Jian timidly glanced at Qiu Hai, who was sitting in the car. To his surprise, Qiu Hai's lips curled into a strange smile. He didn't even look at Jolie, who was writhing in agony, but frowned slightly at her car before getting out and walking towards the villa.
Old Cheng was standing at the door with the Maid. "Welcome back, Young Master!"
He raised his hand and tossed the keys to Old Cheng, his deep voice resonating, "Park the car for me!"
"Yes..."
Liu Jian's gaze followed Qiu Hai until he completely disappeared. Then he turned back to Jolie. The woman who had seemed somewhat timid suddenly regained her arrogance the moment Qiu Hai was gone.
Autumn Wind naturally noticed Jolie's change. Why did she feel so much more relaxed once Qiu Hai left? Could there be some secret? Remembering the documents in the envelope on the bed, Autumn Wind closed the window and flopped back onto the bed.
Uncle Liu had actually hired a detective agency to investigate, detailing everything about Jolie and Qiu Hai, including Jolie's romance with Liu Jian abroad. As Autumn Wind read through it, she suddenly felt scared; it recorded that Qiu Hai had been involved in a serious car accident. Even more shocking was that the timing of the accident coincided almost exactly with when Qiu Mowen had his incident.
If one happened in Taipei and the other in America, Autumn Wind would truly think there was some connection between them.
Flipping through all the materials, Autumn Wind had gained a certain understanding of this brother-sister pair. Everything began to twist after that car accident; the once close siblings became like strangers afterward.
Looking through it again in haste, Autumn Wind noticed something very strange: Qiu Hai had disappeared for a period of time. His personal Maid explained that he was recuperating in a quiet place. But what kind of place was it? The detective wrote this one line: "No way to verify; after reappearing, Qiu Hai seemed like a different person."
What happened during that time?
Autumn Wind was deep in thought when a loud bang echoed, followed by Liu Jian's frantic voice, "Get out here, Autumn Wind, get out here!"
Uncle Liu rushed out to block Liu Jian, who was about to barge in. "Mr. Liu, Mr. Liu, please be quiet, my sister is sleeping!"
"Tell her to come out, I have something to ask her!" Liu Jian's face turned red, all the way to his ears. His fists were tightly clenched, and Autumn Wind had never seen him so furious. He shouted, his eyes filled with a murderous rage, "Get out here, Autumn Wind!"
Leaning forward, it seemed Uncle Liu could no longer hold him back. Yu rushed out of the room, several designer scarves draped over her shoulders. "What are you going crazy for, Liu Jian? Autumn Wind is already asleep; didn't you hear?" She charged in front of Liu Jian, extending her arms to block him.
"Shut up!" Liu Jian interrupted Yu, "Our business doesn't need your interference!" With a forceful shove, he knocked Yu to the ground.
Surprised that Liu Jian would resort to violence, Yu stood up, feeling a mix of anger and embarrassment. She rushed forward, wanting to tear at Liu Jian, but her hand was caught. Liu Jian swung his arm at her.
A sharp female voice rang out, "Try touching her!"
