As one of the few who knew about the relationship between Autumn Wind and Qiu Ruolan, she couldn't imagine how Liu Jian would react to Autumn Wind's identity if they ended up together.
But it was indeed a double-edged sword.
On one side was her Aunt Liu Mama, pleading for help to find a girlfriend for her son, "I just want to confirm whether my son is gay!"
On the other side was her close friend Qiu Ruolan, asking her to help Autumn Wind find a boyfriend who could take care of her, "I'm just afraid that Autumn Wind will be deceived. You know many people; please help filter out a good one!"
With a flash of inspiration, she introduced Autumn Wind to Liu Jian at Yao Mama's birthday party. As for the platinum bag that Autumn Wind pretended to give her mother, it was actually bought by Qiu Ruolan. "Of course, I have to buy the gift from my daughter!"
What troubled her even more was that she never knew how to introduce Autumn Wind to Liu Jian. Besides the fact that Autumn Wind worked as Qiu Feng's assistant, she had no idea how to tell Liu Jian anything else about her.
Thinking about this made Yao Lizhen feel a wave of guilt towards Autumn Wind. Autumn Wind was completely unaware of her close relationship with Qiu Ruolan. Every time Yao Lizhen saw Autumn Wind cautiously concealing her connection with Qiu Ruolan, her heart felt sour.
Autumn Wind soon found the private room where Leo was located. Before entering, she imagined various scenarios and rehearsed how she should behave when meeting Qiu Mowen. Faint screams from behind the door resonated with her heart, making her feel dizzy.
Taking a deep breath and slowly exhaling, Autumn Wind gently pushed open the door to the private room.
The scene inside was surprisingly similar to the welcome party when Leo got off the plane. The only difference was that Yao Guanghao's seat had been taken by Qiu Mowen. Sitting to Leo's left was Jak, who looked flushed and appeared to have had quite a bit to drink. Autumn Wind initially thought Liuliu would be closely attached to Qiu Mowen, but unexpectedly, Liuliu was singing a duet with a young man. Upon seeing Autumn Wind enter, Liuliu waved enthusiastically with one hand holding the microphone.
Next to Qiu Mowen sat a mature-looking woman whose wavy long hair framed her face beautifully. Autumn Wind politely smiled at her. Before she could sit down, Leo began introducing her like a host: "Everybody, this is Endy!"
As soon as Leo finished, there was an immediate response in the room. He enjoyed this feeling of holding everyone's attention: "Okay, let me introduce you all; these are Ervin's colleagues..." Before Leo could finish, Jak suddenly stood up, clapping his hands loudly before losing his balance and falling onto the sofa.
Autumn Wind guessed there must have been some unpleasantness between Leo and Jak because Leo ignored Jak and continued with his opening speech. The atmosphere in the room remained lively until about five minutes later when Leo finally concluded his personal show and slumped onto the sofa in exhaustion.
From across Leo, Autumn Wind occasionally glanced at Qiu Mowen. What saddened her was that the mature woman had been sitting next to him all along, whispering to each other amidst the loud music.
This ignited a quiet turmoil within Autumn Wind; she dared not look directly at Qiu Mowen but couldn't help stealing glances. Not wanting to look at either Qiu Mowen or that woman, she focused on the space between them instead and reached for a glass on the table. Gritting her teeth, Autumn Wind picked up the glass and took a big gulp.
The liquid had just flowed to her throat when Autumn Wind realized she had made a mistake, and she immediately choked, spitting everywhere.
Leo was startled awake by Autumn Wind's violent coughing. He straightened up, his gaze sweeping over Jak, and finally landing on Autumn Wind as he snatched the cup from her hand.
"You've lost your mind!" Leo exclaimed sharply.
Autumn Wind's eyes were still fixed on the space between Qiu Mowen and the woman, but she couldn't help but grit her teeth. "I've lost my mind? Then tell me what’s going on! Why did you bring me here?"
Leo was a clever guy. He glanced lightly at Qiu Mowen, set down the cup in his hand, and cupped Autumn Wind's chin with both hands, forcefully turning her head. Finally, he leaned in closer. "Don't be afraid; it's just a coincidence!" The enticing scent of wine wafted from his mouth and hit Autumn Wind's nose. "It really is just a coincidence!"
Autumn Wind wanted to express her dissatisfaction again, but Liuliu had somehow sat down beside her. She gently shook the cup in her hand and breathed softly into Autumn Wind's ear, prompting Leo to release his hold on her face.
Autumn Wind turned to look at Liuliu, who naturally picked up the cup that Leo had taken from her and shoved it into Autumn Wind's hand, while pushing her hips forward. Autumn Wind instinctively moved forward as well.
"Come on, come on! Who would have thought Liu Assistant could join us in celebration today! Endy and I toast to Liu Assistant! May Liu Assistant stay youthful forever!" Liuliu pulled Autumn Wind along, raising her cup high.
If Liuliu hadn’t been addressing the woman next to Qiu Mowen, this inexplicable action would have put her at risk of having wine splashed all over her by Autumn Wind.
Autumn Wind didn’t understand why Liuliu had dragged her into this, but it wasn't bad to engage with Liu Assistant, who was glued to Qiu Mowen's side.
Liu Assistant twisted her body slightly, brushing against Qiu Mowen's arm as she gently flicked her hair. "What should I do? I'm not feeling well today!" She looked at Qiu Mowen with soft eyes. "President Qiu!"
Liuliu's eyes sparkled with fire; being this close, Autumn Wind could clearly hear her grinding her teeth. Qiu Mowen's lips moved slightly as if he was about to say something. Before he could speak, Autumn Wind interjected, "Yes, Liu Assistant! Even if you don't want to toast with Liuliu, at least you can acknowledge my toast!"
The corners of Qiu Mowen's mouth lifted slightly. He said nothing but reached for the red wine on the table and slowly poured it into the goblet on his left. Standing up, he held the cup and gently swirled it. "Then let’s toast to all the ladies present—may you all remain beautiful forever..."
Was this his response? The anger that had long been suppressed within Autumn Wind suddenly surged up; she couldn't tolerate Qiu Mowen's actions any longer. She shot him a glare and then tilted her head back, downing the drink in one go.
Liuliu was stunned by Autumn Wind's actions, having originally linked arms with Autumn Wind, she froze.
The atmosphere became a bit awkward, and Qiu Mowen gave a wry smile. He shook his head, lightly tapped Liuliu's cup, and then sat down. Perhaps it was because he had already choked on the drink, or maybe he had just drunk too quickly; Autumn Wind did not feel the choking sensation anymore. Leo finally realized the awkwardness of the situation: "Come on, don't be so down! Let's keep going!"
The people around them instinctively made various sounds of celebration. Liuliu shrugged and mixed into the crowd, while Autumn Wind's gaze swept over Liu Assistant. Her already vibrant face showed an even more peculiar smile, perhaps due to the effects of alcohol. Autumn Wind began to dare to make eye contact with Qiu Mowen, but it was devoid of any emotion.
However, Qiu Mowen withdrew his gaze and continued chatting with the woman.
Leo once again turned Autumn Wind's face towards him, pressing his forehead against hers: "Baby, don’t do that, don’t do that; it will expose your!"
Hearing the word "expose" was quite amusing; Autumn Wind couldn't help but start to chuckle coldly. She said, "Expose who? Me? No one knows who I am!"
"Alright, alright! Let’s not talk about that!" Leo interrupted Autumn Wind, "I’ll order something else! Tomorrow, jak and I are going to record; your mom invited us!"
"My mom?" The face of Qiu Ruolan immediately appeared in Autumn Wind's mind, only for it to shift to Qiu Mowen. Her tongue began to twist, making her slightly stutter. Autumn Wind mumbled, "She’s not my mom! I don’t know her!"
"Okay, okay, she’s not! But what I mean is, we need a female companion! So I hope you can help me with jak and yukn!" He glanced at jak and said loudly, "Don’t you think he looks like Zheng Jiakai?"
Tears unexpectedly fell from Leo: "He should be in front of the camera too!"
Suddenly, Autumn Wind's phone rang. Whether it was because of the name Zheng Jiakai or the noisy ringtone, she suddenly became alert.
She looked up to see Qiu Mowen, looking somewhat helpless as he communicated with that woman. Occasionally glancing at Autumn Wind, his eyes were filled with disappointment.
Autumn Wind realized her earlier behavior had been too abrupt. Aware of this, she couldn’t help but feel scared and frantically rummaged through her bag for her phone. Picking it up, she saw a message from Yao Lizhen: Where are you? What about Liu Jian?
In an instant, Autumn Wind remembered that Liu Jian was still waiting for her downstairs. Just thinking about him made her suddenly anxious.
The scene of Qiu Mowen and Liu Assistant chatting happily appeared before her eyes, sometimes distant and sometimes close. Autumn Wind stood up abruptly, startling Leo, who also got up and asked, "What's wrong with you now?"
Autumn Wind turned her head and suddenly became serious. "I have to go! Someone is waiting downstairs!"
"Who?" Leo asked directly.
Autumn Wind deliberately did not answer and staggered toward the door, swaying as she made her way through the crowd.
She heard someone ask, "Which department is this Endy from? I’ve never seen them before!"
Autumn Wind let out a heavy snort and left through the door.
Autumn Wind was unsure how much the alcohol had numbed her nerves. She only remembered that she had put in a lot of effort to find Liu Jian's car. To avoid causing trouble for Liu Jian, she squatted in front of his car to throw up before getting in.
Autumn Wind felt like she was just grinning foolishly while Liu Jian hurriedly got her water and a towel.
Liu Jian was a good person; this was what Autumn Wind concluded after waking up for the second time.
