"Don't call me that... We've broken up, so... don't call me that anymore." Since there was no escaping it, Rao Jie mustered her courage and said.
Bao Ming's expression froze, his eyes darting around in confusion.
Jiang Chuchu couldn't help but step forward, almost standing in front of Bao Ming. "Sister Jie, what do you mean by that?"
Rao Jie couldn't tell if Jiang Chuchu's tone was one of indignation or excitement. "Don't call me that either. Neither of you deserves to call me that. So just leave, and don't come looking for me again!" As Rao Jie spoke, she noticed the two of them still wore expressions as if they wouldn't shed tears until they saw the coffin, and she found it amusing. She tilted her head slightly, her brows trembling.
"Jiang Chuchu, your clothes were soaked last night. Didn't you have time to go back to your dorm and change? Or is there no spare outfit at Bao Ming's place?"
"You?" Jiang Chuchu's face turned pale.
"Last night, I was in the hallway."
With that said, what else was there to be unclear about?
Both Bao Ming and Jiang Chuchu's faces turned exceptionally ugly. It was clear they had acted boldly themselves; why were they now putting on such expressions?
Unable to hold back any longer, Bao Ming stepped out from behind Jiang Chuchu, his emotions running high. "Sister Jie, listen to me; I can explain."
"Then explain. I'm listening," Rao Jie replied flatly.
Bao Ming was momentarily taken aback by Rao Jie's tone, his mouth opening but unsure of what to say. Explain what? Rao Jie already knew everything; what more could he say?
Wei Qian couldn't help but snicker from the side, causing Bao Ming's face to flush red. The laughter of an onlooker only served to highlight his mistakes and shame him further.
At this moment, Jiang Chuchu had stopped looking at Rao Jie and instead tugged at Bao Ming's shirt, her eyes filled with both longing and sorrow.
But Bao Ming seemed oblivious as he gazed at Rao Jie, unable to resist taking another step closer.
"Bao Ming!" Jiang Chuchu exclaimed anxiously.
Bao Ming halted in his tracks and turned to look at Jiang Chuchu, whose eyes were brimming with tears. He felt a deep inner turmoil.
Rao Jie couldn't bear to watch any longer. She didn't cry; her voice simply took on a tone tinged with unshed tears. "There's nothing to explain, right? Bao Ming, don't you have any sense of responsibility as a man? If you've done something wrong, you need to take responsibility for it. That way, I might still hold you in some regard. Just say you're sorry and promise not to show up in front of me again; that would be the only respect you could give our past. So please don't do anything else that would make me look down on you."
Bao Ming's eyes turned red. "But I care about you!"
Rao Jie couldn't help but let out a laugh. "So should I be grateful? Thank you for caring about me while betraying me?"
Bao Ming finally fell silent, his head hanging low, resembling the disappointment of losing a basketball game in the past.
"I'm sorry, Rao Jie, I'm really not doing this on purpose, I'm sorry."
Rao Jie took a deep breath and let out a couple of scoffs.
Jiang Chuchu stepped forward, patting Bao Ming's arm as if to comfort him, trying to lead him away from this place.
Rao Jie cast a disappointed glance at Jiang Chuchu but said nothing.
However, Wei Qian couldn't hold back any longer. "Jiang Chuchu, don't you think you owe Rao Jie an explanation?"
Jiang Chuchu looked up, her gaze icy.
Is this really how her good friend of several years behaves? They had cried, laughed, and caused trouble together in the past, yet now, for a man, Jiang Chuchu could change so drastically.
It was hard to believe! If she hadn't witnessed it with her own eyes, Rao Jie would never have accepted such a reality.
