Hearing the footsteps, the disheveled deity turned to look outside the cage and immediately noticed the Shennong Ding in his hand. He rushed to the side of the cage and shouted, "Isn't this the Shennong Ding? How did it end up in your hands?"
The Demon Lord slowly lowered the Shennong Ding in his hand, looking disdainfully into the cage. "You, Lizard Spirit, dare to betray me and hand over the Shennong Ding to those Exorcists. Do you really think I don't know? Retrieving it will be as easy as pie!"
The Lizard Spirit collapsed onto the ground, his clothes and wounds clearly showing that he had been severely tortured by the Demon Lord. He never expected that after making such a difficult decision to find Jing Yue for a rendezvous with Xiang Xueer, he would still be caught by the Demon Lord.
He turned to look at Jing Yue, who was still sitting dazed inside the cage, staring blankly at the Demon Lord standing by the cage. His last hope shattered; without the Shennong Ding, he had no leverage to restore the sanity of the Ancestor of the Demon Refining Pot.
"This is the consequence of your betrayal!" With a wave of his hand, a ball of black flames rose from the ground, igniting around the Thousand-Year Mysterious Iron. He threw the Shennong Ding into that circle of fire and sneered, "Let this Three Flavors True Fire burn you and the Shennong Ding to ashes!"
"Cough cough cough!" The thick smoke made it impossible for him to open his eyes. He kept trying to escape from inside the cage, but how could anyone easily break free from the Thousand-Year Mysterious Iron?
The flames grew fiercer, and a cold smile appeared on the lips of the Demon Lord. No one would return here; leaving the Shennong Ding behind to burn alongside this Lizard Spirit was a perfect two-for-one deal.
As he pulled Jing Yue along, preparing to leave the cave, the Lizard Spirit saw her being taken away by the Demon Lord and shouted loudly, "Don't go, Jing Yue!"
Suddenly, Jing Yue's brows twitched slightly. The blazing fire illuminated her bright eyes, but she seemed still asleep—without thought or awareness—only able to let her father take her away.
Meanwhile, Li Yunyang had chased all the way to the foot of Cloud Summit, looking up at the mountain peak frozen for a thousand years and wondered, "Why would that Fire Rat escape to this place? Isn't this where that previous Lizard Spirit stayed?"
Never mind that; he decided to climb up first. He quickly made his way up the mountain. Covered in ice and snow for years, it took him half a day of effort to finally reach the summit, only to find that black mist had flown away again.
"Damn that Fire Rat!” Li Yunyang stomped his feet in frustration. Just as he was about to chase after it again, a choking smell of smoke wafted towards him. He immediately stopped and turned towards the entrance of the cave; it seemed like this smell was coming from there.
Strange, is there someone here? He drew out the Azure Dragon Sword and headed towards the entrance of the cave. Just after taking a few steps, a shadow suddenly approached him from the darkness. He was startled and quickly gripped the long sword in his hand.
Suddenly, a figure gradually revealed its true form. Li Yunyang focused his gaze and saw the Black Cloak, with two dragon claws on its shoulders, red pupils, and a chilling Killing Intent. Behind it was actually Witch Jingyue.
"Demon Lord!" Li Yunyang was shocked beyond words. He never expected to encounter the Demon Lord in this cave. Could it be that the Fire Rat came here just to see him?
Damn it, what scheme is this guy plotting? Although he felt uneasy inside, he couldn't back down in front of such a strong enemy. He raised his long sword and swung it back: "What exactly is your conspiracy? Hurry up and confess!"
Li Yunyang's sword stabbed towards the Demon Lord's chest, but he didn't even bother to dodge. With a clang, the sword tip trembled; the Demon Lord's body was as solid as iron, and he couldn't inflict any harm at all.
"Where did this little brat come from?" The Demon Lord seemed disdainful of entangling with him. Grabbing Jingyue with one hand, he reached upwards towards the cave's ceiling. With a loud rumble, his palm power opened up a huge hole above the cave, sending dust flying everywhere until Li Yunyang could see nothing.
"Wow!" Li Yunyang quickly covered his eyes. By the time he regained his senses, the Demon Lord had already dashed out of the cave, pulling Witch Jingyue along as he turned to leave. He looked up, preparing to rush forward to stop them when suddenly a beastly roar echoed from above, startling both of them.
A dragon-headed horse with scales all over its body was rapidly flying towards them, and atop this divine beast stood an elderly man with white hair and an ethereal presence.
Li Yunyang focused his gaze and immediately smiled; this was none other than his master: Feng Qingyang. The mount beneath him was an ancient divine beast, his summoned creature: Qilin.
"Master!" Li Yunyang shouted excitedly. Great! He never expected his master to appear in this place; it was like a divine intervention. Just right for his master to deal with that damned Demon Lord while he could enter the cave to investigate.
"Yunyang?" Feng Qingyang recognized Li Yunyang immediately upon hearing his shout. This child had actually come to this place! After separating from the other Holy Ten Exorcists, he had been searching for the whereabouts of the Demon Lord. Unfortunately, he found him here at Cloud Summit.
The Demon Lord initially thought everything was under his control but did not expect there would be pursuers behind him. Upon seeing this person clearly, a glint of Killing Intent appeared in his eyes: "Hmph! I wondered who it was that managed to approach me without detection; turns out it's that old immortal Feng Qingyang!"
“Demon Lord!” Feng Qingyang waved his long sleeves, and a white longsword immediately appeared in his hand. The Qilin Beast stopped in its tracks, and above, the forces of water and fire clashed, with two streams of Killing Intent beginning to flow against each other, one black and one white, completely enveloping the sky.
With the master outside, there was nothing to worry about. Li Yunyang thought this and turned to rush into the deepest part of the cave, only to be met head-on by a raging fire as soon as he entered.
“Wow!” Li Yunyang quickly stepped back a few paces. What is this? Suddenly, there were black flames. Peering through the black fire, he saw that there was actually a person locked inside an iron cage.
“Cough cough cough, Jing Yue!” The Lizard Spirit was unable to open its eyes due to the intense heat of the flames. Li Yunyang vaguely heard a voice from inside and immediately shouted, “Who’s in there?”
Someone? The Lizard Spirit quickly struggled to stand up and through the black flames immediately spotted Li Yunyang, urgently calling for help: “It’s me! Hurry up and save me!”
Lizard Spirit? Li Yunyang was taken aback. How did this guy end up locked in a cage? He suddenly remembered the Demon Lord who had just left and understood at once; could it be that scoundrel's doing?
Although this guy had previously been a rival, he had indeed handed over the Shennong Ding as part of their deal. It was just that they hadn’t kept their appointment in the end. Still, he couldn’t just stand by and watch him die!
He tried several times and finally found a spot where the flames were less intense and rushed in. He swung his longsword at the lock on top of the cage, but after exerting himself for quite some time, the cage didn’t budge at all; not even a mark appeared, let alone opening it.
What’s going on? Li Yunyang was puzzled. Upon closer inspection, he realized that the damned cage was made of Thousand-Year Mysterious Iron. No wonder he couldn’t open it no matter what! But unfortunately, Lian Cheng Xue wasn’t here; if he were, he could have used his Black Iron Sword to break open the cage.
Li Yunyang shook his head helplessly at Lizard Spirit: “I can’t open the cage. What are we going to do?”
