"Now that we're here, it seems we've found the way!" Lian Cheng Xue, carrying Gunaara on his back, finally returned to the path they had taken when they went the wrong way up the mountain, already drenched in sweat.
The two looked up at the vast road ahead and finally sighed. Gunaara, feeling a bit embarrassed, looked at the somewhat tired Lian Cheng Xue and couldn't help but wipe the sweat off his forehead with her sleeve. "Brother Lian, I'm too heavy. Why don't you put me down?"
Since they had already found the way, even if Xiang Xueer and the others came looking for them, they wouldn't get lost again. He set Gunaara down, and the two sat on a nearby patch of ground, starting a fire to warm themselves.
Gunaara leaned against a nearby rock to rest while Lian Cheng Xue kept watch, guarding against any sudden attacks from nearby monsters. A rustling sound from the grass suddenly startled her awake.
"Hmm?" Gunaara rubbed her eyes and turned to see a Little Mouse crawling over her. She screamed in fright, which immediately alerted Lian Cheng Xue.
"What happened?" He drew his Black Iron Sword and rushed over. Gunaara was most afraid of mice; she jumped three feet high as the mouse scurried around her, making her pale with fear.
"There's a mouse! Help!" Gunaara cried as she dove into Lian Cheng Xue's arms, causing her swollen ankle to throb painfully. Tears streamed down her face!
Lian Cheng Xue looked down and saw that the mouse was indeed clinging to her sleeve. He swung his long Sword One and flicked the mouse off onto the ground, where it squeaked and darted into the grass, disappearing without a trace!
"It's okay now, it's okay!" Lian Cheng Xue reassured Gunaara as he patted her back. However, she had wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, creating an awkward moment for both of them.
After a while, Gunaara finally reacted and glanced around herself and the ground. Sure enough, there was no sign of the mouse anymore. She then turned to look at Lian Cheng Xue, who was so close that their bodies were touching. His handsome face made her cheeks flush red.
Gunaara was known as the most beautiful woman of the Nüwa clan; being held by such a beauty made her heart race. Of course, Lian Cheng Xue's mind was occupied with thoughts of Xiang Xueer. However, even with his strong composure, having Gunaara's delicate arms draped around his neck made his heart flutter.
"Ah!" Gunaara quickly pulled her arms back from around his neck. Both felt embarrassed and turned their faces away from each other. After a moment, Lian Cheng Xue lowered his head and said, "You should rest for a bit; I'll keep watch nearby!"
He turned to leave, still holding Sword One as he wandered around in the vicinity. Gunaara bit her lip and stole a glance at him before returning to sit by the rock wall again. What was this strange fluttering feeling in her heart?
As dawn broke several days later, Xiang Xueer bid farewell to Lingxu Daozhang of Southern Mountain of the Five Peaks and set off quickly down the mountain with Ling Zhu, Fat Ancestor, and Duck. By midday, they discovered Lian Cheng Xue and Gunaara resting halfway down.
"Wow! What happened here?" Ling Zhu exclaimed upon seeing Lian Cheng Xue carrying Gunaara on his back as he slowly climbed up the mountain. "What’s going on?"
Gunaara waved his hand with an embarrassed expression, "It's all my fault. I took the wrong path and was so clumsy that I fell, causing Big Brother to carry me. We still haven't reached the mountain."
Big Brother? It's only been a few days, and they've already changed how they address each other? These two can't possibly be involved, can they? Xiang Xueer looked at the two with great interest. At this moment, Duck secretly pinched her thigh from behind, covering its mouth and whispering, "See? I told you there was something going on between them!"
"Hehe!" Xiang Xueer chuckled softly. If these two could become a couple, it would indeed be a match made in heaven. However, it was a pity that such a handsome man was being taken away by someone else.
"By the way, did you encounter Li Yunyang on the way?" Xiang Xueer's expression changed suddenly as Lian Cheng Xue asked in surprise, "No? What happened to Brother Li?"
They hadn't encountered him. Where on earth did that fool run off to chase the Fire Rat? Honestly, he didn't even leave a trace for me. I'm not a dog; I can't sniff out their whereabouts.
Ling Zhu noticed that Xiang Xueer's face wasn't looking good and realized she was worried about Li Yunyang. He quickly informed Lian Cheng Xue and Gunaara, "Hey, don't mention it. When Li Yunyang and Duck were heading up the mountain, the Shennong Ding was taken by that Fire Rat. He went after the Fire Rat alone, and we were just about to look for them!"
"What? The Shennong Ding is lost?" Lian Cheng Xue's face darkened immediately upon hearing this and quickly asked, "Shirley, did you manage to get the Kongtong Seal?"
Xiang Xueer reached into her sleeve and pulled out the Kongtong Seal, waving it in front of the two: "I did manage to get this, but it took quite an effort. That Fire Rat nearly destroyed the Taoist temple!"
"Damn Fire Rat!" Gunaara angrily shook his fist. "Let's go find that damn Fire Rat and get back the Shennong Ding!"
Xiang Xueer looked down at the road leading down the mountain and then at Gunaara's foot. "Although we still don't know where Li Yunyang went after the Fire Rat, let's head down the mountain first and then make further plans. We need to treat Gunaara's foot first!"
After descending the mountain, they began searching for Li Yunyang's whereabouts. However, who knows where that rascal ran off to? Three days passed; Gunaara's foot was fine now, but they still hadn't found any clues about the Shennong Ding.
In an inn in a small town, several people were at a loss in their room. With one of the Five Divine Artifacts missing, there was no way to ignite the Light of the Sun and Moon. Calculating the time left until December 21st, there was less than half a month remaining.
"This is troublesome!" Xiang Xueer couldn't help but furrow her brow. Suddenly, she thought of something and turned to Fat Ancestor, asking, "When you went to find the Shennong Ding last time, weren't you able to sense its presence from far away? This time, do you have no feeling at all?"
Fat Ancestor shook his head: "In these past few days, I've already tried with Azure Wind and Fuxi. It seems there has been no response from within a hundred miles of here regarding the Shennong Ding. I suspect it has been taken far away by the Fire Rat."
This was what Xiang Xueer feared most. At this moment, Fat Ancestor stood up: "However, even if we can't sense its exact location, we can still feel its general direction. Over these past few days, I've clearly sensed that the Shennong Ding is to the west!"
"West? This area is indeed vast, but even so, it's much better than not knowing the direction at all," Xiang Xueer turned around and raised the Azure Wind Sword in her hand. "Since that's the case, what are we waiting for? Let's slowly search towards the west!"
"Alright!" several people immediately responded, packed their belongings, and began to head west. Meanwhile, Li Yunyang was chasing after the Fire Rat, following the stench of that foul rodent until he reached the vicinity of Cloud Summit.
A swirling black vortex flew to the mountaintop and landed beside a cave. A man dressed in a Black Cloak slowly turned around. "Fire Rat, I sent you to find the Kongtong Seal. How did it go?"
The Fire Rat quickly knelt on one knee, lowering his head to report, "I failed in my task; that girl named Xiang Xueer snatched the Kongtong Seal away from me. I have no face to see the Demon Lord again!"
"What? That girl again?" The Demon Lord's eyes twitched slightly. He had indeed been interested in this girl before, but she was too detestable—refusing to submit to him and repeatedly opposing him was simply unforgivable.
He swept his Red Eyes over the Fire Rat, and a strong Killing Intent suddenly surged forth, frightening the Fire Rat into obediently presenting the Shennong Ding. "Demon Lord, although I did not obtain the Kongtong Seal, I managed to acquire the Shennong Ding!"
Shennong Ding? The Demon Lord walked over to the bronze four-cornered cauldron and looked down closely; it was indeed an Ancient Artifact: Shennong Ding. A satisfied smile appeared on his lips as he waved his hand. "Get up. As long as I obtain any one of these artifacts and destroy it, I will no longer have to worry about these nuisances becoming obstacles in my quest to dominate both humans and demons!"
The Fire Rat stood up and saw that the Demon Lord finally showed a pleased expression. He lowered his head and flatteringly praised, "Congratulations, Demon Lord! The day when we will bloodily wash through the human realm and eliminate those Exorcists is approaching!"
"Hahaha!" The Demon Lord laughed heartily, lifting the Shennong Ding with one hand as he turned to enter the cave. "Fire Rat, your next mission is: go forth and kill!"
"Hehe!" The Fire Rat grinned coldly; upon hearing the word 'kill,' he immediately licked his lips with his tongue, his Red Eyes flashing with Killing Intent. "Who should we start with?"
"Hmph!" The Demon Lord glanced sideways at the Fire Rat's excited expression and carried the Shennong Ding deep into the cave. Inside was a massive cage made of Thousand-Year Mysterious Iron, tightly enclosing a disheveled person.
