"Poof!" Fat Ancestor finally couldn't help but laugh out loud, which caused the Azure Wind Sword behind Xiang Xueer to buzz in protest. She quickly shut her mouth; after all, they would meet sooner or later, so it didn't matter what he looked like.
After a while, Xiang Xueer's expression gradually darkened. "By the way, I just encountered that Lizard Spirit!"
"Lizard Spirit? What kind of monster is that?" Fat Ancestor had never interacted with the Lizard Spirit and naturally didn't know their history, so Xiang Xueer began to explain: "The Lizard Spirit is the lover of Witch Jingyue. I was surprised that the Witch is still alive, and it suddenly appeared here. It can't be here for the Shennong Ding, can it?"
Fat Ancestor immediately stopped in his tracks. "The Demon Lord rescued Witch Jingyue, so that's why you encountered me injured and fleeing. But if this Lizard Spirit has appeared here, it seems to be after the divine artifact. I suspect it has something to do with the Demon Lord."
For infatuated men, using them is quite simple. Thinking of this, the two quickly quickened their pace; it seemed they needed to take the Shennong Ding away as soon as possible to feel secure.
The two hurried back to the Chiyou Tribe. When those people saw that the forest fire had been extinguished, they immediately knelt down and worshipped the two. Xiang Xueer sighed and pointed at the Shennong Ding. The chief promptly presented the ding with both hands, of course after Ling Zhu had poured out all the blood inside and then directly tossed it to Li Yunyang.
"Hey, why is it me again!" Li Yunyang shouldered the Shennong Ding while continuously complaining. Lian Cheng Xue smiled apologetically and said, "Brother Li, how about I help you carry it for a while?"
Li Yunyang turned to look at Lian Cheng Xue's remaining arm and sighed, "Well, forget it. I'll carry it myself. But this thing is really heavy; can't it turn into a human like a fat guy and walk by itself?"
Fat Ancestor rolled his eyes at his whining and couldn't be bothered to respond. Finally, everyone exited the oasis and stepped back onto the desert.
In the middle of the night, when everyone was sound asleep, Xiang Xueer sat cross-legged on the sand, one hand tightly gripping the Azure Wind Sword while her red eyes scanned the surroundings.
The silent desert and near-freezing temperatures created a somewhat chilling atmosphere. Suddenly, she frowned and focused her gaze on a slightly trembling grain of sand on the ground, instantly becoming alert.
Something was nearby. She quickly stood up and looked around, soon noticing the mist that began to spread around them. Were there monsters? Xiang Xueer drew her Azure Wind Sword and swiftly moved next to the Shennong Ding.
"Um? What's wrong?" Ling Zhu heard a sound and immediately opened her eyes. Xiang Xueer quietly leaned down, placing a finger on her lips to signal her to be silent.
Behind Ling Zhu was the Fuxi Qin. They had collected four of the five Ancient Artifacts, so they had to be extra cautious. Thus, the two were always prepared for a surprise attack.
The surrounding mist grew thicker, obstructing their vision. The two turned to glance at the three sleeping figures behind them, ensuring they did not wake them. Suddenly, with a 'whoosh,' the soft sand beneath their feet began to collapse.
Xiang Xueer leaped into the air, her body gracefully leaving the ground. However, Ling Zhu seemed unprepared and found herself sinking downwards. Looking down, she was shocked to discover that it was not a cave below but something soft that was tightly gripping her legs and dragging her down.
Xiang Xueer soared into the air and quickly spotted the target: a giant lizard hiding behind the white mist, its long tongue buried in the sand, firmly ensnaring Ling Zhu's legs.
It was this Lizard Spirit again; last time it hadn't been taught a lesson and dared to ambush them once more. Xiang Xueer frowned and raised her Azure Wind Sword, thrusting it fiercely toward its head.
The Lizard Spirit looked up and noticed the incoming attack. It flicked its tongue hard, yanking Ling Zhu's legs upward and blocking Xiang Xueer's strike.
"Ah!" Ling Zhu cried out in surprise as she called for Shirley to come help. Just in time, Shirley managed to catch her securely as they both landed quickly. The noise finally woke Li Yunyang and the others.
"What happened? What’s going on?" Li Yunyang exclaimed, his eyes wide as he looked at the two sitting nearby. Turning his head, he noticed the thick White Mist surrounding them. "Damn it! Carrying that Shennong Ding was too exhausting; otherwise, I wouldn't have slept so soundly. I didn't even notice such strong demonic energy."
Lian Cheng Xue and Fat Ancestor quickly scrambled to their feet. Upon turning around, their expressions darkened. "Strange, where is the Shennong Ding? Wasn't it here?"
"What?" Xiang Xueer immediately turned to look. It had just been there, but now it was gone in the blink of an eye. Her brows furrowed as she realized it must have been the work of the Lizard Spirit. Drawing her sword, she dashed forward through the mist.
In the distance, she saw that the Lizard Spirit's tongue was wrapped around the Shennong Ding as it hurriedly made its way across. Xiang Xueer cursed under her breath and without hesitation leaped forward, swiftly pursuing it.
"What’s going on?" Li Yunyang was completely confused about the situation. Ling Zhu, angry, turned her head and scolded him, "You slept like a pig and didn’t even notice the Lizard Spirit's ambush!"
"Lizard Spirit?" The three were shocked. Fat Ancestor slapped his thigh in self-reproach, "It's all my fault. If I had known, I would have stayed up with Shirley. Where is she?"
"She went after it!" Ling Zhu frowned as she looked ahead. She wanted to chase after them too, but when she reached out to touch Fuxi Qin, she realized that if there were still ambushes around, this Fuxi Qin might not be safe either. In the end, she decided to stay with everyone and wait for her.
Xiang Xueer chased after them closely. She didn't expect that this guy would pull a feint; judging by the situation, he was indeed aiming for Shennong Ding. No matter what, she couldn't let him take it away today.
"Stop!" Her speed was quick, and in no time she had caught up with the Lizard Spirit. With a sudden step, she blocked its path.
Upon seeing Xiang Xueer, the Lizard Spirit quickly curled its long tongue and swallowed Shennong Ding into its belly, trying to hide the item. Xiang Xueer glared with sharp eyes, pointing her sword directly at its nose: "Lizard Spirit, I’m giving you one last chance to hand over the item. Today I’ll spare your life; otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude!"
The Lizard Spirit took a small step back, glaring at Xiang Xueer with its green eyes: "No way! Unless I die, I will definitely take Shennong Ding away today."
This guy was really stubborn like a fool. The corners of Xiang Xueer's eyes twitched slightly as she asked, "Is it for Jing Yue?"
"How do you know!" The Lizard Spirit was taken aback for a moment before immediately shouting back, "Since you already know, then I don’t need to say anything more! Today I must take this cauldron away!"
There was truly no way to communicate with such an infatuated fool. Although Xiang Xueer didn’t want to hurt it, the situation was urgent, so she had no choice but to take action.
In the vast desert, two currents of Killing Intent surged towards the black sky. A wave of cold air swept in, making people shiver uncontrollably. Li Yunyang couldn’t help but sneeze and began to worry: "I wonder how Shirley is doing? Did she catch up with the Lizard Spirit?"
