"Hey?" Xiang Xueer reached up to scratch her head, looking at the person who had long since disappeared, feeling a bit strange inside. "No way? This is too easy to deceive, just a few words and they were tricked away?"
Seeing the Masked Man leave, the Serpent Empress finally breathed a sigh of relief and slowly stood up. She was already drenched in sweat, nearly on the verge of collapse.
She turned to glance at Xiang Xueer and asked, "Hey, how did you know his identity?"
"Ah?" Xiang Xueer shook her head. "I don't know. I was just tricking him; I thought you knew."
"Tricking him?" The Serpent Empress frowned immediately. This brat was actually deceiving? It's a joke; she even believed it herself and went along with it. They managed to get away with it, but if they had been found out, it would have been certain death.
What a bold move, but they got lucky. It seemed that the Masked Man's identity was becoming increasingly suspicious. The Serpent Empress turned and lifted the Witch's corpse from the ground. "Since I've helped you find the Witch's body, there's no need for further thanks!"
"No need to be polite; after all, we're cooperating for our own needs!" Xiang Xueer calmly looked ahead. "Let's hurry and leave. If that guy reacts, we're done for."
On this side, Xiang Xueer and the Serpent Empress formed an alliance with different goals, while on the other side, Li Yunyang and others continued waiting for Saint Ten's whereabouts.
Li Yunyang and the others came out from the Waystation and looked around curiously, asking, "Hey? Where's Duck? It feels like we haven't seen Duck in a long time?"
At the same time, high above in the sky, Duck groggily woke up from a large pit. Looking up, he realized everyone was gone, startling him into jumping out of the pit. "Sister? Li Yunyang? Qingtian, where are you?"
All around him was chaos; there were pits everywhere, and even the forest had been burned to ashes. Duck was shocked and immediately began to cry. "Wahhh! Sister, you all died so tragically!"
This fool had been forgotten by everyone during his unconsciousness; naturally, he knew nothing of what had happened in between. After crying until he was tired, Duck stood up and searched around for a while.
Suddenly, he noticed something had fallen onto a nearby patch of ground. Walking over to take a look, he was pleasantly surprised to find it was the Luring Demon Pot. No way! They couldn't find Sister's body, and now the Luring Demon Pot had also fallen on the ground. He scratched his head in confusion. "Could it be that I missed something important again?"
Meanwhile, Ling Zhu finally rested well at the inn and got up only to find that everyone was gone. Strange? Where did they all run off to?
She looked up at the sky, which was about to be engulfed by the setting sun, pondering whether to head to Sky Beyond Mountain. She turned around and walked towards the summit of Sky Beyond Mountain, where she soon discovered the fractured terrain and vast areas of charred forest.
"What on earth happened here? The destruction is so severe!" Ling Zhu thought to herself, quickening her pace. Upon reaching the top of Sky Beyond Mountain, she spotted Duck across from her.
"Hey, Duck!" she shouted. The Vine hidden in her sleeve flew across to the other side. Looking down at Duck and the chaotic surroundings, she asked, "What is going on here?"
Duck shook his head innocently. "Heart Demon is dead, and Witch has emerged from my sister's body. They started fighting with Li Yunyang's master—Earth Shattering—and then I fainted. When I woke up, everyone was gone."
This guy always faints at critical moments. Ling Zhu grabbed the Luring Demon Pot in his hand and said, "They’re gone, yet you left the Luring Demon Pot here. It seems they were in quite a hurry."
Ling Zhu glanced at the Black Enchantment Tower across from Thorns and frowned. The last time she visited, there was still one seal remaining on the tower; now all nine seals had been broken. However, it was strange that the Demon Lord had not yet emerged from the tower.
This left the two who had not participated in the previous battle completely confused. "Forget it; since we don’t understand what's happening, let’s leave quickly and look for Shirley and the others."
"Yeah, but I wonder if she is my sister or Witch now!" Duck sighed. "Every time I see Witch, I get so scared I almost wet myself!"
Ling Zhu sent her Vine flying towards the other side again while lifting Duck with one hand. "Then wear more diapers to avoid wetting yourself!"
Location: Izumo Kingdom, Dagu La Mountain Range, situated in the far west with a humid tropical rainforest climate. In the black night sky, a sudden howl pierced through the air from atop a cliff across.
On a clearing by a stream, a pair of narrow red eyes glanced across to the cliffside, a crescent-shaped cold smile curling at the corners of his mouth. He slowly stood up, playing with a hat in his hand while twirling it around his fingers.
This person was about two meters tall, dressed in a long red fur coat. His triangular face and hair at his temples were also fiery red. He glanced sideways at a corpse lying nearby and slightly turned towards a stone wall across from him, smiling as he said, "Come out; I know it's you!"
"Hehehe!" A deep voice came from behind the stone wall, followed by a tall figure stepping out from the shadows. With green eyes gleaming coldly with interest, he looked across and said, "Long time no see, Fire Rat."
"Ah, it has indeed been a long time—over a hundred years!" The man called Fire Rat seemed to have tired of playing with his hat; he tossed it aside and sat down while looking up at the rapidly changing clouds. "Hey, Wolf King, has there been any news from Demon Lord?"
"Well, I'm here to inform you!" This person, Wolf King, one of the four great generals under the Demon Lord, had a tall stature, muscular build, and eyes as eerie and terrifying as a wolf's. He wore a long black robe and carried a large black wolf fang sword on his back.
Upon hearing this, Fire Rat immediately turned around and asked, "Is it news from Heart Demon? What happened to it?"
"It's dead. We agreed before that if it dies, it means the seal is lifted, and it's time for us to make our move again." Wolf King slowly smiled and added, "Just in time, my Million Demon Wolf Army was looking for a place to test their skills."
"Dead, huh?" Fire Rat's tone was somewhat surprised but remained calm, as if he didn't care much about Heart Demon's death. He turned around and stretched lazily. "What about the princess? Why is there still no news?"
"Hmph! Just a little girl, don't worry about her!" Wolf King scoffed and shook his head. "If it weren't for the Demon Lord protecting her, she would have died a thousand times by now."
Wolf King stared intently at the corpse lying on the ground, next to which lay the body of a flying eagle. There were also signs of battle around them. He asked, "Who did you kill?"
Fire Rat curled his lip and kicked the corpse with his foot. "Claimed to be one of the Holy Ten Exorcists, the ninth one. I see it's nothing special; they seem to be getting weaker these days."
"Saint Ten?" Wolf King turned to leave. "Fire Rat, I'll go ahead. Once you're done playing around, head to Demon Prison Tower early."
"Got it, got it. Seriously, it's been a hundred years and you're still as chatty as before. I still need to check on my subordinates," Fire Rat replied, helplessly scratching his red hair before turning around and disappearing.
In the night sky, the clouds resembled the claws of a devil, capable of swallowing everyone in an instant.
Xiang Xueer and Serpent Empress were carrying the Witch's corpse toward the inn. Just as they were about to arrive, they suddenly stopped in their tracks at the sight of a figure standing across from them.
