She stopped in her tracks, her eagle-like eyes scanning the surrounding silent forest. Even the slightest hint of Killing Intent was enough for her sensitive nature to detect: "Come out, stop hiding there sneakily!"
"Hehehe!" A series of eerie female laughs echoed. Xiang Xueer frowned slightly, feeling a chill at the back of her head. She quickly lowered her head, dodging this attack, and turned to bring her AK-47 down.
"Who?" Xiang Xueer looked up to see a young and beautiful woman standing before her, with willow-shaped eyebrows and a cherry-like mouth. Her figure was graceful, and her clothes shimmered brightly, making her look like a young lady from a wealthy family.
Strange, she didn't seem to recognize such a woman from her memories. Xiang Xueer stared into the woman's red eyes, her pupils rapidly constricting as she observed the woman's seductive smile. Her expression darkened immediately: "Hey, Serpent Empress, stop pretending to be innocent when you have nothing better to do; it's really unsettling."
"Hmm?" The Serpent Empress raised an eyebrow and touched her delicate cheek: "Oh dear, how annoying! You can still recognize me after I've changed like this? I was hoping to give you a surprise!"
Xiang Xueer felt goosebumps all over at her words. This Serpent Empress did not come with good intentions. However, she couldn't help but wonder which unfortunate girl had become this perverted snake's new vessel.
"Spit it out if you have something to say!" Xiang Xueer raised her AK-47, aiming it at the Serpent Empress's forehead, ready to gather her energy and deliver a three-word formula as a greeting.
It seemed that the Serpent Empress was not there to fight; a cold smile gradually appeared on her lips: "Don't be so agitated. I don't want to fight you; I'm just here to make a deal!"
A deal? Xiang Xueer looked around for a moment, scoffed softly, and slowly lowered her weapon: "Serpent Empress, I’m not interested in making any deals with you. I'm busy right now and don’t have time for idle chatter."
After saying that, she turned to leave. Seeing her about to go, the Serpent Empress hurriedly said: "Don't you want to find the Witch's body? Surely you don't want to stay with this unpredictable woman forever?"
Xiang Xueer suddenly stopped in her tracks and turned to look back at the Serpent Empress: "What do you mean? How do you know about the Witch's body?"
"Hmph!" The Serpent Empress curled her fingers and smiled: "Xiang Xueer, you underestimate me too much. The human world and the demon world are so small; what could possibly be hidden from me? Besides, there's no wall that doesn't let the wind through."
Xiang Xueer didn't trust the Serpent Empress at all, but she was very interested in extracting information from her. So she turned around with curiosity and asked: "Oh? Since you know so much, then you must know where the Witch's body is?"
"Of course I do!" The Serpent Empress confidently lifted her head, her cunning eyes darting around: "I can help you obtain the Witch's body and make that damned woman leave your body forever."
"It sounds good." Xiang Xueer couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, smiling at the Serpent Empress in front of her. "But what benefit is it for you to do this?"
The Serpent Empress stared at Xiang Xueer for a long time. It seemed that this woman was not a fool; when it came to intelligence, neither of them was inferior to the other. Her expression darkened as she coldly replied, "I want you to help me kill someone!"
Kill someone? Xiang Xueer was taken aback. Did the Serpent Empress already know that my sister is a killer? How could she ask me to help her kill someone? She looked at her in confusion. "Oh? I'm curious to hear who you want to kill."
Just thinking about it made the Serpent Empress grit her teeth in anger, her fists clenched as she exclaimed, "You must have seen him; he is a mysterious man wearing a mask."
Xiang Xueer didn't expect that the person the Serpent Empress wanted to kill was him. However, this was strange; did the Serpent Empress have some connection with the Masked Man?
"I've seen him; he was able to melt the ice in front of him, so he must be someone extraordinary. Who exactly is he?" Xiang Xueer expressed her doubts about the identity of the Masked Man.
"Hmph, if I knew, I wouldn't need you!" The Serpent Empress's expression changed dramatically at the mention of the Masked Man, her beautiful face instantly darkening. This made Xiang Xueer even more suspicious. "Hey, you two aren't involved with each other, are you?"
"What? Involved with each other?" The Serpent Empress looked at Xiang Xueer with a puzzled expression, probably thinking that she watched too many dramas where this kind of plot happens. Two people have a good relationship, then one party develops feelings for someone else, leading the woman to turn from love to hatred and wanting to kill the man!
Yes, that's basically how it goes, Xiang Xueer thought while nodding. The Serpent Empress impatiently said, "What are you thinking? I don't know that guy's identity, but his existence threatens my life. So I must kill him to be free."
It seemed she was overthinking it. Xiang Xueer crossed her arms and shook her head. "Sorry, Serpent Empress, but I'm not planning to cooperate with you!"
The Serpent Empress looked at Xiang Xueer with distrust in her eyes. "Suit yourself. Think it over carefully; if you don't cooperate with me, you'll never find out the whereabouts of the Witch."
After saying that, she actually turned to leave and added before departing, "I'm nearby; if you come to your senses, come find me here!"
In a flash, the Serpent Empress disappeared into the forest. Xiang Xueer stood there and sighed. "Even someone like the Serpent Empress wants to find someone to cooperate with; it seems that things are becoming increasingly unpredictable."
"Big sister! Big sister!" A voice called out from a distance; it seemed they had come looking for her. Xiang Xueer turned her head and saw that it was Duck and Li Yunyang climbing up the mountain together.
"Hey, Dead Girl, where have you been? You've made me worry!" Li Yunyang complained to her irritably. Xiang Xueer replied calmly, "It's nothing, just went out for some fresh air and a walk."
"A walk requires luggage?" Duck stared at the package on her back. Xiang Xueer immediately shot it a glare: "Shut up, if you don't speak, no one will mistake you for a mute."
Soon after, Lian Cheng Xue and Qingtian rushed over. Seeing her safe and sound, they finally breathed a sigh of relief. "Shirley, don't overthink it; we were more worried about not being able to find you."
"Ah!" Xiang Xueer exclaimed, remembering something important. She quickly called out, "Forget about me for now; something bad has happened!"
The others exchanged worried glances and asked, "Hurry up and tell us what happened."
Xiang Xueer recounted everything she had seen at the mountaintop. Li Yunyang's face turned pale: "No way, the master actually killed Heart Demon? Dead Girl, why didn't you tell him while you were there?"
"How could I tell him? It was so far away, across a river! I shouted for ages, but he completely ignored me!" Xiang Xueer was extremely dissatisfied; how could Li Yunyang blame her?
"This isn't the time to discuss that; we need to hurry to Demon Prison Tower and check it out," Qingtian said anxiously as he turned and ran toward the summit of Sky Beyond Mountain.
Sure enough, upon reaching the mountaintop, they found the cracked ground covered in scorch marks from fierce flames. Xiang Xueer pointed at a fissure that looked like it could swallow a leg: "This is brutal; they actually used Seven Character Formula. It's a miracle this mountain is still standing!"
Li Yunyang furrowed his brow as he glanced across the river at Demon Prison Tower. He indeed spotted Feng Qingyang's figure, who was facing away from them and crouched on the ground, seemingly still trying to prevent the emergence of the Demon Lord.
"I'm going to check it out!" With a burst of Azure Wind, Lan Ran Qingtian swiftly crossed the rushing river with ease and moved forward. However, just as he reached the area filled with Thorns, the winding thorns surged toward him, eager to engulf him.
