Serpent Empress felt a surge of anxiety. Although it knew that Xiang Xueer was injured and unable to retaliate, it did not expect Heart Demon to protect this Dead Girl all the way. Coupled with that Ling Zhu, it seemed that its skills were quite profound. 0

"Hmph, Dead Girl, consider yourself lucky!" Serpent Empress finally retracted its tail. A wise man does not suffer losses in front of him; this Heart Demon was not to be trifled with. If a fight broke out, it would likely result in both sides being severely injured. Given the circumstances, retreating was the better option. 0

After a gust of wind blew by, Serpent Empress vanished in an instant. Heart Demon slowly put away the flute, showing no intention of pursuing. Entangling with this snake demon would only lead to more trouble. But how could it still be alive? It seemed that a thorough investigation was necessary. 0

"Cough cough cough!" Platypus, covered in dust and blood, lay on the ground. Heart Demon crouched down, looked at its wounds, and then gently pressed a finger on its back. The brick-like pain quickly dissipated. 0

It slowly sat up, touched its chest, and looked up in surprise at Heart Demon: "Why... why did you save me?" 0

The blue eyes of Heart Demon flashed as it turned to walk away: "This is my reward for risking my life to protect the princess. Hurry and take her away." 0

Reward? Duck swallowed hard. This fellow's mood was unpredictable; what if it regretted saving him and decided to kill him instead? It quickly dragged Xiang Xueer out from beneath the cave and carried her back to the market. 0

Heart Demon walked over to Ling Zhu, not even glancing at her, and directly headed towards the opposite side: "Return to her side and protect the princess. If she encounters such danger again, I will kill you immediately!" 0

Ling Zhu clutched her chest, her heart racing. Once he disappeared, she sighed and leaned against the Tree Trunk, murmuring, "When will these days finally come to an end?" 0

Just as they were recovering from their shock, trouble arose for Li Yunyang. The Tropical Rainforest was fraught with danger; in the middle of the night, the three of them were surrounded by beasts lurking within the forest. 0

In the dense white mist, pairs of Red Eyes gleamed coldly, fixated on the three people within their encirclement. At any moment, they would swarm in groups to tear their prey apart. 0

"It's a pack of wolves!" Li Yunyang wrinkled his nose and sniffed the air. He picked up a burning torch from the ground; fire was what wolves feared most. However, with so many wolves around, escaping safely would not be easy. 0

Qingtian frowned and scanned their surroundings briefly. After roughly estimating their situation, he felt uneasy: "There are probably hundreds of them. How are we going to escape?" 0

Standing back-to-back with the two others, Li Yunyang, familiar with wolf pack behavior, immediately informed them: "In a pack of hundreds of wolves, there will definitely be an alpha wolf; it is the leader of the pack. If possible, we should avoid making enemies with them. I will try to negotiate!" 0

"Negotiation?" Lian Cheng Xue swallowed hard, confused. "Li, Brother Li? You want to negotiate with wolves? How do you plan to do that?" 0

Li Yunyang chuckled softly. "I almost forgot to tell you, I was raised by wolves, so I naturally have a way to communicate with them!" 0

"Roar!" A series of howls came from the ridge across from them. Li Yunyang turned to look, his voice deep; it seemed this was the alpha wolf of the pack. 0

He began to attempt communication, raising his head and letting out a howl similar to that of a wolf. It seemed he was genuinely conversing with them, and soon a wolf on the ridge heard the sound and leaped toward them. 0

The surrounding wolves immediately sounded alarms. Li Yunyang grinned nervously, sweat pouring down his face. Qingtian's expression was already contorted in disbelief as he quickly asked, "Hey, Brother Li, what are they saying?" 0

"Uh-oh, it seems we can't reach an agreement. We've intruded into their territory, so it looks like they want to treat us as their midnight snack!" Li Yunyang sneered, his mouth twisted in a grimace as he looked at Qingtian and Lian Cheng Xue. "What are you waiting for? Run!" 0

"Run? Where can we run? We're surrounded!" Lian Cheng Xue stomped his feet anxiously. He felt like he might end up as a snack before he could even save Xiang Xueer. 0

As they passed through the White Mist, the wolves began to close in on the three of them, the encirclement gradually tightening. The wolves bared their teeth and drooled; damn, were they really that hungry? Three people weren't enough for all of them. 0

Qingtian was sweating profusely; it wasn't that they didn't want to fight the wolves, but once they did, they would surely be seen as enemies by the monsters in this forest. At that point, they would have even more foes. Forget about finding Gu Liu Ma; Xiang Xueer was in imminent danger, and they simply couldn't afford to waste time. 0

He looked up at the towering trees and pointed to the treetops. "No choice; we should climb a tree!" 0

"Good idea!" Lian Cheng Xue had just finished speaking when he noticed Li Yunyang had already climbed up a tree. "Hey, what are you two dawdling for? Hurry up here!" 0

The three men forced themselves up into the treetops while the wolves below continued howling and scratching at the Tree Trunk with their claws, making a screeching sound. 0

Qingtian sighed and turned to look at the other two men, silently lamenting, "Sigh, as a Saint Ten Exorcist, being forced to climb a tree by a pack of wolves—if this gets out, how am I supposed to survive in the Exorcist community in the future?" 0

"Don't be upset, just take a look down there!" Lian Cheng Xue pointed with his chin at his subordinate. A pack of wild wolves was sharpening their claws on the tree trunk. At this rate, even a hundred-year-old tree would be broken by these beasts. 0

"Ah woo woo!" Li Yunyang grinned, howling like a wolf as he exchanged glances with the lead wolf below. It was unclear what they were saying, but the pack grew increasingly agitated, causing the trees to shake continuously. 0

"Hey, Brother Li, what are you talking about?" Lian Cheng Xue asked with a puzzled expression, staring at his mouth full of incomprehensible symbols, sweating. 0

"I'm warning them that if they dare to attack us again, we will fight back!" Li Yunyang said seriously. Lian Cheng Xue and Qingtian immediately felt exasperated: "I mean, big brother, please stop making things worse!" 0

The tree trunk shook more violently; it seemed that before dawn, the three of them would be knocked to the ground by this pack of wolves. Suddenly, a loud whistle echoed from the valley across the way. The lead wolf turned its head to look across and then unexpectedly turned around and ran quickly in that direction. 0

With the lead wolf leaving, the rest of the pack seemed to be summoned and gradually followed suit. Lian Cheng Xue let out a sigh of relief: "Finally gone!" 0

Li Yunyang turned his furrowed brows towards the valley. Although he wasn't quite sure of the situation, that whistle seemed to have called them. It was strange how a hundred wolves could be so obedient. 0

"It seems there is someone over there!" Lan Ran Qingtian stood atop the treetops, gazing over the endless forest when suddenly a figure appeared in their line of sight. 0

A middle-aged man in his forties, of medium build, wearing a simple gray coarse linen robe. His eyes were sunken with high cheekbones and a short black beard that gave him an air of dignity. He looked up at the three people in the treetops and asked, "Who are you?" 0

Li Yunyang stared at the man for a long time and noticed he was carrying a bamboo basket filled with herbs. He then asked, "Uncle, we are looking for Gu Liu Ma. Do you know him?" 0

"Hmm?" The middle-aged man scanned the three of them, his gaze landing on the family crest on Lan Ran Qingtian's arm. A smile gradually appeared on his lips: "I thought I recognized you; you are from the Blue Dye Clan, could it be Qingtian?" 0
