Three people hurriedly walked over there. The skin of the Gigantic Snake—oh my, how big must this snake be to have such a large body? Li Yunyang frowned and stepped forward to sniff: "Strange, this smell is so familiar. Why does it smell like the Serpent Empress?"
"Impossible!" Qingtian squatted down to look at the still slightly damp snake skin, suddenly shocked: "Isn't the Serpent Empress already dead? This skin must have been shed only three or four days ago. What is going on?"
The three of them were puzzled. Could it be that the Serpent Empress was not dead after all? They had originally come to search for Gu Liu Ma's whereabouts, but unexpectedly discovered the Serpent Empress's trail.
Meanwhile, inside the inn...
"Cough cough cough!" Xiang Xueer showed no signs of the Miasma dissipating; in fact, it seemed to be getting worse. She coughed while unconscious, indicating that the poison of the Miasma had begun to penetrate her internal organs.
Platypus stood beside her, looking anxious and helpless as he kept glancing at Xiang Xueer: "Sister, sister, they are already trying to find a way. You have to hold on!"
"I don't think she can hold on much longer!" Ling Zhu, standing nearby with a cold gaze, crossed her arms: "Today is already the fourth day. A normal human would have died by now."
"Shut up, you wicked woman!" Platypus shouted while pointing at Ling Zhu: "I tell you, as long as I, Duck, am here, you can't lay a finger on my sister."
"Hmph!" Ling Zhu's black eyes flashed as she nonchalantly turned away to sip her tea: "Don't kid yourself. Even if I don't touch her, she won't last much longer. The Miasma has already seeped into her spleen. I doubt she'll see tomorrow's sunrise!"
Platypus glared fiercely at Ling Zhu, muttering under his breath: "You traitorous woman! My sister is a Demon Realm Princess; she won't die so easily. I promised Dead Blackie that I would protect her at all costs!"
Suddenly, Xiang Xueer's body began to tremble uncontrollably. A mouthful of fresh blood spewed from her mouth, and her breathing became rapid and labored, her expression showing great pain.
"Sister, sister, what's wrong?" Duck hurriedly climbed onto the bed in fright and saw her collapse onto the bed after vomiting blood, her breathing gradually weakening.
Ling Zhu set down her teacup with a look in her eyes that suggested she could no longer hold on. She cursed under her breath: "If it weren't for my master insisting that you stay alive, I wouldn't care whether you lived or died!"
After saying this, she picked up a dagger from the table and walked towards Xiang Xueer. Platypus turned around upon seeing the weapon in her hand and quickly shielded Xiang Xueer's body: "What do you want? I won't let you hurt my sister!"
"You stupid Duck, get away from me!" Ling Zhu stepped forward and pushed Platypus aside, picked up the empty teacup on the table, cut her wrist, and let the blood drip into the cup. With one hand, she supported Xiang Xueer, trying to feed her the blood.
"Demon? You woman actually want to poison my sister, I'll fight you!" Duck grabbed Ling Zhu's thigh and pulled her aside with all his might, making her extremely annoyed. She simply kicked him away.
"Ouch!" Platypus bumped into the corner of the table, feeling dizzy and seeing stars. In a daze, it saw Ling Zhu feeding the blood from the cup into Xiang Xueer's mouth.
"Sister, sister!" After an unknown amount of time, Platypus finally woke up. Turning its head, it found Ling Zhu resting against the edge of the bed. It pounced on her and bit down hard on her shoulder: "You killed my sister, I'll bite you to death!"
"Wow!" Ling Zhu was awakened by the pain of the bite. Turning her head, she saw Duck fiercely biting her shoulder and swung a punch at him: "You dog, when did I kill her?"
"Woo woo woo!" Platypus continued biting without letting go while crying: "You killed my sister, I won't live either, I'll fight you!"
Ling Zhu's face darkened with anger as she pointed at Xiang Xueer, who was still sleeping on the bed, and shouted, "Open your duck eyes and see clearly whether she is dead or not!"
"Huh?" Platypus turned its head to look and saw Xiang Xueer lying on the bed with steady breathing. Although the Miasma poison had not been resolved yet, it seemed to have eased a lot; at least she was no longer coughing.
"Sister, sister, great!" Platypus finally released its bite and pounced over to Xiang Xueer, checking her breath by touching her nose. Seeing that she was truly out of danger, it turned to stare at Ling Zhu: "Hey, what exactly did you make my sister drink?"
Ling Zhu slowly stood up, a handkerchief wrapped around her wrist. It seemed that what Xiang Xueer had drunk was indeed her blood: "I need to go out for a bit; you stay here with her."
"Where are you going?" Platypus shouted anxiously. Ling Zhu ignored him and walked straight out of the room. He was filled with confusion: "What is this woman’s background? She is so suspicious."
Night had fallen. In a ruined temple outside the city, Ling Zhu knelt on the ground and reported: "Master, the princess has been poisoned by the black dragon's Miasma; she is in grave danger. Although I have stabilized the spread of Miasma with my blood, it won't hold for long!"
"I already know; you did well!" Heart Demon turned around and looked at Ling Zhu with Blue Eyes: "The Exorcists around them have gone to find Doctor Gu Liu Ma. You must return to her side and ensure her safety."
"Yes!" Ling Zhu stood up and hesitated for a moment before asking: "Master, when will my husband..."
"Don't worry, I will let your husband go, as long as you do your job well!" The Heart Demon said before quickly disappearing. Ling Zhu sighed deeply and turned to leave the Ruined Temple.
The Platypus was inside the house changing the towel on Xiang Xueer's head when Ling Zhu returned. Duck turned to glare at her and asked, "Where have you been?"
"None of your business!" Ling Zhu replied coldly as she sat down with her arms crossed, closing her eyes to rest. The Platypus snorted, "Hmph, let's see when your Fox Tail shows itself!"
Outside, the wind rustled the trees, and a cold breeze seeped through the window cracks. Duck, who was dozing on the table, was suddenly awakened by the chill. He hugged his shoulders and exclaimed, "Wow, it's so cold!"
Ling Zhu suddenly opened her eyes and turned her cautious gaze toward the window. She got up and walked to the window, pushing open the slightly creaking frame, her dark eyes scanning the night air.
The cold wind carried the scent of beasts; it seemed they were being watched. The Platypus rubbed its eyes and walked over to her side, asking, "Hey, what are you looking at?"
"Shh!" Ling Zhu covered its mouth urgently. "We've been targeted. Quickly move her to the room next door; make sure no one sees!"
The Platypus stared wide-eyed at Ling Zhu's serious expression, realizing she wasn't joking. It shook off its earlier drowsiness and hurriedly carried the unconscious Xiang Xueer to the room across the hall.
Ling Zhu quickly secured the doors and windows. Although she couldn't identify their pursuers, she could sense a dangerous presence; it seemed their opponent's abilities were at least above her own.
She lay down on Xiang Xueer's bed, pulled down the curtains, and tightly gripped the dagger in her hand. Now all she could do was wait for their opponent to appear. With no one to help her, that foolish Duck probably wouldn't be able to accomplish anything. She had to buy time; as long as dawn came, they would be safe.
Creak! The sound of a window being gently pushed open reached her ears. A shadow gradually approached. Ling Zhu held her breath as the shadow drew nearer. Through the sheer curtain, she could make out its shape—a gigantic snake was baring its fangs and slithering directly toward her.
