"Yes, it's simply unreasonable!" Platypus jumped off her lap with a splash. "Sister, sister, where is the antidote for the Serpent Empress? I'm going to steal it!"
Xiang Xueer pointed to her own stomach. "The antidote is her Snake Gallbladder. If you have the ability, go steal it!"
Upon hearing this, Platypus quickly shut his mouth. Xiang Xueer touched her chest; the other soul inside her body was a demon. If she couldn't kill the Serpent Empress herself, perhaps this being from the demon realm could. She clenched her fists tightly. "There's no time to waste; we need to find the Serpent Empress first."
The group of three, along with Platypus, began their frantic search for the whereabouts of the Serpent Empress, but by nightfall, they had found nothing.
"Damn it, where could that guy be hiding?" Lian Cheng Xue punched the wall in frustration. Xiang Xueer stroked her chin and finally calmed down enough to analyze the situation. "Lian Xiong, you mentioned that the Serpent Empress fought against the Rakshasa King and then shed her snake skin to escape, right?"
"Yes, that king is quite formidable; he almost roasted the Serpent Empress with fire. If she hadn't shed her skin and fled, she would have probably been dead by now!" After Lian Cheng Xue finished speaking, Xiang Xueer suddenly clapped her hands and smiled.
"I got it!" Xiang Xueer crossed her arms mysteriously, and everyone leaned in eagerly. "What did you figure out?"
She turned to look towards the junction of Wuli Po and Shili Slope. "Every time the Serpent Empress sheds her skin, she suffers significant damage to her vitality. Therefore, she must go to a populated area to brazenly consume human hearts to recover her strength!"
"Wow, as expected of my sister! She's the woman I've set my sights on, even if her chest is a bit flat." Platypus praised while preparing to escape with his belongings. Qingtian grabbed his tail. "Where do you think you're going?"
Platypus pouted and shouted, "It's too dangerous to catch the Serpent Empress! Of course I'm looking for a place to hide so I can catch her off guard later!"
Lian Cheng Xue shot him a disdainful glance. "If you want to escape, just say so! Don't talk about catching anyone off guard!"
"Don't mind him; let's go!" Xiang Xueer didn't even bother looking at him and quickly headed towards Wuli Village with Lian Cheng Xue and Qingtian. Platypus stood there angrily, stomping his feet and shouting, "You guys shouldn't underestimate me! I'll show you what true strength is later! Hmph!"
As night fell, the three finally arrived at Wuli Po. The quiet streets became eerily silent; a cold wind sent chills down their spines as they walked along the road. The usually bustling marketplace was completely deserted.
"What’s going on? Where is everyone?" Qingtian sensed something was off in the air and cautiously entered a shop selling medicinal herbs. Sure enough, there wasn't a single person inside.
The three split up to search around and were shocked to discover that all the people in Wuli Po had vanished without a trace. Xiang Xueer looked at the food and wine on a table in an inn; it was still steaming hot. It seemed that all the townsfolk had disappeared just moments ago.
"Again with the Serpent Empress!" Lian Cheng Xue sighed deeply. It was obvious that this was the doing of the Serpent Empress, just like the situation at Shili Slope.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the street. Xiang Xueer was startled and quickly rushed out of the inn. On both sides of the street, swaying Zombies were approaching them: "Oh no, that damn Serpent Empress has created a new Zombie Army!"
The best strategy was to retreat. Xiang Xueer quickly held her breath, leaped up onto the roof, looking around. Where was she? Where had the Serpent Empress hidden?
Lan Ran Qingtian patted her shoulder: "Don't worry, we will definitely catch her!"
Xiang Xueer was indeed a bit anxious; time was too tight. Whether they could find the Serpent Empress was one thing, let alone killing her to retrieve the Snake Gallbladder. If time passed, Li Yunyang's life would be in danger.
The streets were filled with the Serpent Empress's Zombie Army. The three of them hid on the roof, wondering when this would end as dawn was approaching.
"Hmph, how infuriating! They all look down on me!" Platypus cursed while walking through the forest: "Back in the day, I was a vanguard general under the Great Yokai, commanding thousands!"
With a 'thud,' he bumped into something soft and fell onto the ground: "Who is it? Can't you see where you're going?"
He looked up angrily to find a pair of Azure Orchid eyes staring intently at him. Those eyes emitted a chilling aura, and a cold smile appeared at the corner of the mouth as it lifted him into the air and said with surprise: "Oh? So it's just a Duck!"
"Let me go! Who are you?" Platypus flailed his legs in panic. The person in front of him looked like a child but could immobilize him with just a glance.
"I am the Heart Demon!" it slowly uttered a few words before throwing him to the ground: "You go tell Xiang Xueer that the Serpent Empress is hiding in the cave at Xiqiao Waterfall!"
"Ah?" Platypus gulped nervously, staring at the Heart Demon and asked: "W-why are you telling me this? I... I don't even know you!"
"It doesn't matter that you don't know me; I just need you to deliver this message! Don't you want to achieve something?" The Heart Demon covered its mouth with one hand, its eyes taking on a scythe-like shape: "But remember, you must not tell her that I told you!"
Platypus looked at its rapidly contracting blue pupils, terrified and trembling all over. By the time he regained his senses, the Heart Demon had already vanished without a trace.
"Ah, you scared me! This guy is like a smiling tiger, so terrifying." Platypus reached out to pat the little one carefully and, shouldering the package, was about to leave when suddenly a thought crossed his mind: "If I tell them the whereabouts of Serpent Empress, wouldn't that make me a hero? Then no one would look down on me, and even the eldest sister would see me in a new light!"
"Hehe!" He turned around, wiggling his plump backside as he dashed off. "Eldest sister, eldest sister, I found her! I found her!"
While Xiang Xueer was at her wit's end, she heard the distant cries of that Duck: "Eldest sister, I found Serpent Empress!"
Found Serpent Empress? Xiang Xueer felt a surge of excitement and quickly hugged Platypus tightly, asking, "Where? Where did you find her?"
"Hehe!" Platypus pouted proudly. "After my relentless pursuit, I finally discovered a clue about Serpent Empress. I almost lost my life while chasing this lead!"
He rambled on for quite a while, and the three of them were nearly boiling with anger. Xiang Xueer landed a punch on his forehead and shouted angrily, "Stop keeping me in suspense! Just tell me where!"
"In the cave at Xiqiao Waterfall!" As soon as Platypus finished speaking while holding his head, the three of them immediately tossed him aside and headed toward Xiqiao Waterfall.
"Hey, you guys are too heartless! Wait for me!" He ran after them, realizing that if he had known it would be such a thankless task, he wouldn't have told them. But thinking of that Heart Demon's eyes made him tremble; if he didn't say anything, he would surely be killed by that monster.
Xiqiao Waterfall is located southwest of Wuli Village, across from a dilapidated Little Stone Bridge. The waterfall cascades down from over three meters high, and one can feel the mist in the air from quite a distance.
"Serpent Empress would hide here?" Xiang Xueer frowned and looked around. The ground was flat; apart from the waterfall and stone bridge, everything was exposed to view—there was nowhere to hide.
Xiang Xueer pulled Platypus, who was trailing behind her, closer. "Where is Serpent Empress? Where exactly did you discover her?"
