Lan Ran Qingtian's face turned slightly red, and he turned his head to scold her, "You're still joking at a time like this. I think we should find another way to sneak in!"
"Tch, you're no fun!" Xiang Xueer glanced towards the back door they had seen earlier, then stood up and started to weave through the bushes. "Let's go in through the back door!"
"Go through the back door again? We already went that way once; they must have strengthened their defenses!" Qingtian seemed a bit opposed to this action, but Xiang Xueer didn't think so. She peeked through the crack of the back door and smiled, "Not necessarily; you can see for yourself!"
Lan Ran Qingtian looked inside with surprise, and his expression darkened immediately. "No way, there isn't even a guard. Could it be a trap?"
"Possible!" Xiang Xueer stroked her chin, gazing up at the two-meter-high wall, and smiled, "No worries; today we won't use the door!"
"Not using the door?" Qingtian followed her gaze upward and quickly understood. He then wrapped his arms around Xiang Xueer's waist and leaped, and the two of them landed in the open space behind the door.
"Strange!" As soon as Xiang Xueer entered, she felt something was off. Not only were there no guards, but there wasn't even anyone watching over the entire backyard? She furrowed her brows and looked around; it was pitch black, not even a light was lit. This was simply too bizarre.
Could it really be a trap? Lan Ran Qingtian hurriedly walked towards the cave where Li Yunyang was held. Once they entered, sure enough, there wasn't a single guard in sight. However, they could hear Li Yunyang's voice from afar: "Damn it! Hurry up and let me out!"
Xiang Xueer and Qingtian exchanged glances and rushed inside. Indeed, apart from Li Yunyang trapped in that Thousand-Year Mysterious Iron cage, there was no one else in the room.
"What’s going on?" Xiang Xueer kept looking at the ceiling just in case there was another cage that would trap her inside.
"Finally! You guys are here! I was about to die from anxiety!" Li Yunyang exclaimed upon seeing them. "It's bad; something big is going to happen! Hurry up and get me out!"
"Don't worry; take your time explaining!" Xiang Xueer took out the Black Iron Sword and aimed it at the iron cage. "Step back a bit; be careful not to get caught in the crossfire!"
Li Yunyang backed away while saying, "That Bakemono and Thousand Demons are plotting to massacre the nearby villagers tonight!"
Xiang Xueer swung her sword forcefully; with a 'thud,' several iron bars as thick as arms were quickly cut down. However, what he just said shocked both of them.
"What? Massacre the nearby villagers?" Lan Ran Qingtian's expression suddenly darkened as he hurriedly asked, "What exactly is going on? Tell us quickly!"
"I'm not entirely sure of the details, but that guy called Thousand Demons said today is July 15th Zhongyuan Festival. When the gates of hell open wide, they're going to slaughter the village!" Li Yunyang quickly rushed out of the iron cage and pulled both of them along. "Stop dawdling; let's hurry up and save people!"
On July 15th when the gates of hell open wide, even so, what does that have to do with Bakemono? However, this village massacre indeed seemed very likely. There were no guards inside Duckbill Mountain at all; it seemed Li Yunyang was right—they had already set off.
"Dammit!" Lan Ran Qingtian quickened his pace. The two men were frantically preparing to go stop it, but were blocked by Xiang Xueer. "You two, don't be so impulsive. Let me speak first!"
Li Yunyang was a typical hot-headed youth, shouting anxiously, "What are we waiting for? If we wait any longer, Qingtian and I will dig a pit for those innocent civilians!"
Blue Dye felt a pang of discomfort at the thought: "Yeah, I don’t want the tragedy of Exorcism Village to happen again."
"I know, just listen to me!" Xiang Xueer saw that the two were about to be overwhelmed by their impulsiveness, so she darkened her face and shouted angrily, causing them to immediately shut their mouths.
Xiang Xueer took a deep breath and calmed her anger. "I share your anger and urgency, but there are only three of us. How can we possibly stop that Bakemono's Ghost Army?"
Upon hearing this, the two frowned immediately. "Even so, we know they are in danger. We can't just do nothing!"
"Did I say we should do nothing?" Xiang Xueer retorted angrily at Qingtian. "Two fists can't fight four hands; what we need now is help!"
"Help?" Li Yunyang blinked. "But where can we find help right now?"
"Hehe! Who says we have no help?" A confident smile appeared on Xiang Xueer's face. "Aren't there still 97 Exorcists imprisoned on Duckbill Mountain?"
The two suddenly realized they had been overwhelmed by their emotions and almost forgot about this matter. "That's right! With the three of us plus those 97 Exorcists, that's exactly one hundred people."
"Hmph!" Xiang Xueer snorted coldly. "Then let's have a hundred Exorcists battle the Ghost Legion!"
Xiang Xueer awkwardly gave the next battle a tentative name. The two exchanged glances, confused, and quickly turned to start looking for the place where the Exorcists were held.
Li Yunyang wrinkled his nose and sniffed the air before quickly heading southeast. "The smell here is very mixed; it seems like it's this way!"
Xiang Xueer pouted; every time this happened, she felt, "This guy is more professional and reliable than a police dog!"
Sure enough, following Li Yunyang's lead, the two discovered a dark Cavern in the southeastern part of the entire stronghold. The three hid around a corner and noticed two Little Goblins patrolling at the entrance of the Cavern.
It seemed they were right; in such a large stronghold, there wasn't a single person in sight except for these monsters patrolling here. It went without saying that there must be something inside, but it was better to be cautious.
Xiang Xueer looked down at the small stones on the ground, then picked one up and threw it towards the dark corner beside her. The stone hit the wall, making a faint sound that immediately caught the attention of the two monsters.
"What was that sound?" the one on the left lazily pointed and said, "Hey, you go check it out!"
"Why don't you go?" the monster on the right replied reluctantly but still walked over, mumbling complaints under its breath, "What bad luck! Everyone else is out having fun, and it's just us two stuck here guarding the door!"
As the lazy monster approached, a pair of black hands reached out from the darkness and pulled it in. With a snap, Li Yunyang swiftly broke the creature's neck.
Xiang Xueer exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, not bad! That was quick!"
"Hehe! I learned that from you!" Li Yunyang chuckled and dashed toward the remaining monster at the entrance. With a flash of his Azure Dragon Sword, a bloodied head rolled into the corner.
"Hmph!" he snorted coldly. "A bunch of heartless demons; they all deserve to die!"
Li Yunyang seemed eager to move after being trapped in a cage for so long. Before Xiang Xueer and Qingtian could act, he sent both monsters straight to Yama.
The three finally entered the Cavern, which was a straight downward tunnel with neatly arranged stairs. The dark passage was barely wide enough for two people to walk side by side.
As they navigated through the winding path, Xiang Xueer quickened her pace. Time was money; if they didn't hurry, she would be responsible for failing to stop those monsters from slaughtering innocent people.
Would they find the person they were looking for deep within the Cavern? As Xiang Xueer pondered this, she suddenly stopped. The two in front quickly turned back and asked, "What's wrong?"
