"This dead Duck is quite obedient," Xiang Xueer thought, glancing at the sky. "The shift change is at midnight; it seems we only have an hour left!"
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's hurry!" Li Yunyang, always impatient, headed straight for the cave, with the two of them following closely behind. The cave's entrance was not locked, and they entered smoothly.
Inside was pitch black. Xiang Xueer turned to look around; the darkness felt strange. As they walked along a dark path, it suddenly opened up, revealing the entire cave illuminated by candles hanging on the walls.
"Hey, Qingtian, this is strange. Isn't this where the Exorcists are held? Why isn't there a single guard?" Xiang Xueer couldn't help but slow down, tugging at Qingtian's sleeve from behind.
"Yeah, I think so too!" Lan Ran Qingtian glanced around and then called out to Li Yunyang, who was walking ahead and had pulled away from them. "Hey, Brother Li, don't walk so fast!"
Li Yunyang was itching to move; he charged ahead with the Azure Dragon Sword in hand, completely oblivious to Qingtian's calls. He shouted loudly, "I am the chief disciple of Feng Qingyang, the leader of the Holy Ten Exorcists: Li Yunyang! Bakemono dogs and Demons, come out and die!"
"This idiot!" Xiang Xueer cursed under her breath and hurried after him. After just a few steps, she realized that the three of them had reached the back of the cave. It was a circular area surrounded by iron cages as thick as an arm.
Xiang Xueer looked around carefully, but there were no Exorcists imprisoned in those empty cages. She was startled and shouted, "Not good! We've fallen into a trap!"
Before she could finish her sentence, there was a violent shaking above them, and a large iron cage quickly descended towards them. Xiang Xueer reacted swiftly; she shifted her weight back and leaped gracefully while pulling Qingtian beside her. The two managed to evade the falling cage.
With a loud thud, the ground trembled as the cage crashed down. Li Yunyang found himself foolishly trapped inside it, resembling a monkey on display in a zoo.
"Huh?" Li Yunyang snapped back to reality and looked around at the closely watched cage. He shook it vigorously and shouted, "What is going on? Didn't we come to rescue the Exorcists? Why am I locked up?"
Xiang Xueer's expression darkened immediately; there was no need to say more. She quickly turned to look for that bare-bottomed Stinky Duck. Sure enough, that rascal stood in a corner, pressing a mechanism on the wall and laughing triumphantly: "Hahaha! You foolish humans have finally fallen into my trap!"
"This two-faced, three-bladed traitor!" Qingtian clenched his fists in anger and rushed over, ready to give that Platypus a good beating. However, the guy saw him coming and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Help! There's an assassin! An assassin!"
Oh no, if this guy keeps yelling like that, he will definitely attract other monsters. The most important thing right now is to retreat quickly. She turned around and shouted at Li Yunyang in the cage, "Stop dawdling! Get out quickly; we need to retreat!"
"I want to get out too, but this cage was made by Xuan Tie two years ago!" Li Yunyang's face turned red as he stretched his neck, trying to force himself out. He used all his strength with both hands but couldn't budge the Xuan Tie even a little.
Xiang Xueer stood by, watching his face turn an ugly shade of blue. She quickly joined Qingtian to help, pulling and tugging with all their might. After sweating profusely, they still made no progress.
The most infuriating was that damned Duck, who continued to scream, "Help! There's an assassin! Two men and a woman; the woman is flat-chested!"
Xiang Xueer's eye twitched in irritation as she turned to glare at the damned Duck, wishing she could rush over and pluck its feathers for daring to insult her.
Her eyes suddenly landed on a button above, so she rushed over and pressed it hard. However, the cage didn't budge at all. The gleeful Duck laughed hysterically, "Hahaha! Once this cage comes down, it can never be opened again, you stupid flat-chested woman."
That bastard Duck just called me flat-chested again! She wanted to grab it and tear it apart but held back due to the urgent situation. Instead, she shouted, "Li Yunyang, hurry up and use your Azure Dragon Slash!"
"I'm already working on it!" Li Yunyang's Azure Dragon Sword was already charged and ready. Gathering all his strength, he swung the Azure Dragon Sword with a shout: "Azure Dragon Slash!"
A fierce sword aura surged forward. With several loud 'bangs,' the arm-thick Xuan Tie rang out a few times, showing faint knife marks on its black surface but remained firmly in place.
"Ah! What's going on? Let me out! Let me out!" Li Yunyang finally lost it, sounding like a wild beast howling in the cage. Xiang Xueer and Lan Ran Qingtian stood nearby momentarily at a loss for what to do.
What should we do now? Plus, that damned Duck was still screaming inside the cave. Outside, footsteps could be faintly heard; it seemed they had alerted other Demon Soldiers. The noise was getting closer and closer.
"We've been discovered!" Qingtian turned to glance at the small window of the cave. Sure enough, two teams of White Specters were heading towards the cave. Upon seeing the dead body on the ground, they immediately started shouting, "Not good! An assassin has infiltrated! Hurry and notify the Great Yokai!"
Xiang Xueer, who was anxiously standing by the cage, could see the situation was dire. Li Yunyang was trapped inside the iron cage and unable to escape. With enemy reinforcements on the way, if she and Qingtian didn't retreat quickly, all three of them would likely be in danger. If that happened, there would be no hope of anyone coming to rescue Li Yunyang.
Xiang Xueer quickly analyzed the current battle situation. Li Yunyang stood by the cage, looking at Xiang Xueer's troubled expression and said, "You two should hurry and leave. If you don't go now, none of us will be able to escape!"
Xiang Xueer looked up at him and sighed deeply. She began to worry again; what if Li Yunyang encountered some danger while captured?
Lan Ran Qingtian heard his words and quickly turned to stop him. "No! If we leave, we have to take you with us. It's too dangerous for you to fall into the hands of these Demons!"
"No!" Xiang Xueer interrupted him. She glanced at Lan Ran Qingtian and said, "He won't be in danger here for now. After all, Bakemono wants to use the souls of 100 Exorcists. That bastard Duck mentioned before that there are only 97 Exorcists available right now. Even if we include Li Yunyang, that makes only 98. They won't kill Li Yunyang until they gather all 100!"
"That's right! Dead Girl is correct!" Li Yunyang nodded vigorously. Suddenly, the noise outside grew louder, and footsteps echoed through the cave entrance. Xiang Xueer reached out and grabbed Lan Ran Qingtian's tightly clenched fist, quickly turning to leave. "Stop talking! We need to get out of here!"
The two rushed towards the cave's exit. She glanced back at Li Yunyang in the cage and silently thought: You better stay alive, you little brat! If I come back looking for you and you're not here, I'll turn you into a cucumber.
The two quickly dashed out of the cave, only to confront dozens of monsters head-on as soon as they exited. Xiang Xueer swiftly drew two daggers, entering a fighting stance alongside Qingtian.
