"What?" Li Yunyang pouted as he looked at the snake thrashing around after having its tail grabbed. Frightened, he quickly moved his body away and shouted, "No! I’m terrified of snakes! Hurry and get it away!"
"Terrified of snakes?" Xiang Xueer shot him an annoyed glare. "This snake is not poisonous. Hurry and grab it! If you don’t get up soon, you’ll be sleeping in this swamp forever!"
Li Yunyang looked down at the swamp he was sinking deeper into; his waist was almost submerged in the mud. The green snake opened its mouth wide, baring its fangs, and kept lunging at him, making Li Yunyang even less willing to grab it.
"This idiot!" Xiang Xueer cursed under her breath. Suddenly, a piercing roar echoed from the front of the swamp, instantly alerting the three of them. She recognized that the sound came from Taotie!
She quickly turned around, threw the green snake to Lan Ran Qingtian, and grabbed her gun as she ran toward the sound. Qingtian shouted anxiously, "Hey, where are you going?"
"That idiot is your responsibility now!" Xiang Xueer didn’t bother with the two of them anymore; she was solely focused on capturing Taotie. By the time those two were still shouting, she had already dashed off and disappeared into the forest.
"Dead Girl, damn it!" Li Yunyang struggled hard; only his arms and head were above the surface now. If he didn’t get out soon, he would really end up sleeping here forever.
Qingtian seriously swung the Azure Snake in front of him. "Brother Li, we can’t hesitate any longer! Grab it and then we can hurry to chase Taotie!"
No way! Li Yunyang wanted to cry but had no tears. After hesitating for a long time, he tentatively reached out his hand. As a result, the Azure Snake seemed to have been angered long ago and bit down on his arm. Soon, cries of agony echoed from within the swamp.
"Ah!" Xiang Xueer turned her head back to look behind her. Strange, it seemed like she heard Li Yunyang's scream? Not daring to delay, she pressed on; after crossing this swamp, there was another dense forest ahead.

Whoosh! A shadow darted through the trees. Xiang Xueer quickly rushed toward it but when she looked down, it turned out to be a small bobcat. She sighed and was about to turn away when suddenly she felt a chill creeping up her back.
Oh no! Although Xiang Xueer was enjoying reading, she sensed the danger too late. As she turned her head, she saw Taotie leaping towards her, its sharp claws glinting coldly as they charged directly at her.
There was no time to dodge, so she decided to confront it head-on. She quickly raised her AK-47 and aimed at Taotie's forehead, firing three shots in rapid succession. Black smoke billowed from its forehead, but the bullets only grazed its fur.
This tough-skinned creature was slightly slowed down by the bullet attack. The gunfire seemed to inflict some pain, and it roared while shaking its head violently: "You little human girl, that hurts!"
Hmph! Is that painful? There's worse to come! Xiang Xueer drew two daggers from her ankles and swiftly struck at Taotie's head like a whirlwind. The scorched fur combined with her fierce stab caused red blood to gush from its forehead.
"Roar!" The beast's furious roar shook the entire forest, causing it to tremble. Xiang Xueer glared at the blood flowing from Taotie's head and suddenly felt her blood boiling. A mysterious power surged directly to her head.
What’s happening? Xiang Xueer touched her forehead, feeling as if she had experienced this sensation before. She shook her head vigorously to maintain her composure. This time, she pulled out a repeating crossbow from behind her and rested it on her arm, firing ten arrows in rapid succession without a moment's pause.
However, after receiving an effective attack from Xiang Xueer, Taotie became increasingly alert due to its injury. With a swift movement of its tail, it deflected the arrows that were shot at it, causing them to fall harmlessly to the ground.
"You little girl dared to hurt me! I will eat you!" it roared, opening its massive jaws. Red mist quickly formed at the corners of its mouth before flames began spewing forth, shooting directly at Xiang Xueer.
Fire? She widened her eyes in shock; she had only seen fire-breathing dinosaurs in mythological dramas. She never expected to encounter a fire-breathing Taotie. The most unexpected part was that she had no time to dodge.
The scorching flames rushed towards her, a wave of heat hitting her face. Just at that critical moment, a figure dashed out from the forest and stood in front of her. With a swift motion of its long-sleeved arms, it managed to neutralize Taotie's flames.
Who is it? Is it Li Yunyang or Lan Ran Qingtian? No, Xiang Xueer opened her eyes wide at the small figure. As this person turned around and looked at her with a cold smile, an instant chill ran down her spine.
"What’s wrong? What kind of expression is that?" The blue-eyed figure glanced at her sideways, their smile as cold as a moonlit night, filled with an eerie glint.
Xiang Xueer stared in disbelief at the Heart Demon blocking her path. No, to be precise, it was the Heart Demon that had just extinguished Taotie's flames and saved her.
"How can it be you?" Xiang Xueer couldn't believe her eyes. How could the Heart Demon have saved her? She watched as it flicked its sleeve, thick black smoke billowing from the cuff, the smell of something burnt beginning to spread. It turned to look at Taotie, who was staring ahead: "Hmph! What do you think I am? It's Taotie, after all!"
Taotie, with its red eyes, scrutinized the suddenly appearing figure before it and bared its teeth, shouting, "What are you? If you get in my way again, I'll roast you!"
"Ah, Demon Lord, why do I always end up doing these thankless tasks?" The Heart Demon pouted after hearing this, sighed, and turned to Xiang Xueer with an evil grin: "I'll help you this once; after that, you're on your own. But let me remind you, with your abilities, dealing with this beast should be easy. Don't let the Demon Lord down!"
Once again, there were those confusing words that left Xiang Xueer puzzled. She frowned at the Heart Demon, who was leisurely watching from the side with interest, and asked, "Demon Lord, what abilities? What exactly do you want to do?"
The Heart Demon crossed its arms and smiled at her: "I've already told you everything last time. Don't you remember what happened when you killed the Shape-shifting Monster in Misty Forest?"
"What? I killed the Shape-shifting Monster?" Xiang Xueer was shocked as she tried hard to recall. The memories after Xiaocui's death had always been blank. Did something happen during that time?
Could it be that she didn't remember what happened when she Awakened? The Heart Demon frowned at Xiang Xueer's astonished expression: "Tch, what a hassle!"
"You two bastards! You don't even take me seriously!" Taotie glared angrily at the two of them chatting away. With a roar, it launched another attack at Xiang Xueer. The red flames surged toward her. She quickly turned around but had no time to dodge; instinctively, she raised her arm to block the incoming flames.
"This is bad!" The Heart Demon wanted to rush forward to stop it but was already too late. It watched wide-eyed as the flames engulfed Xiang Xueer’s body like a burning fireball.
So hot! Xiang Xueer felt an unbearable heat coursing through her body; her blood and marrow felt like they were about to ignite. Then a surge of hot blood rushed to her head, and she lost consciousness.
