She took a deep breath, adjusting her thoughts as the three of them walked to the back of the cave. Xiang Xueer looked down at the ground and indeed found fresh blood and human bones scattered on the floor.
"I didn't expect that the Shape-shifting Monster was killed by that Dragon Horned Demon, and there are still people sacrificing themselves here!" Lan Ran Qingtian squatted down and touched a bit of bloodstain. "The blood is still fresh; it seems to have been left last night!"
"The Dragon Horned Demon killed the Shape-shifting Monster?" Xiang Xueer looked at the two in surprise. "When did another Dragon Horned Demon appear? Could it be Taotie?"
"I don't know. Anyway, during the time you were unconscious, that dazzling Shape-shifting Monster was killed by a Crimson-Haired, Red-Eyed Dragon-Horned Demon, and its heart was also dug out!" Li Yunyang said.
"A Crimson-Haired, Red-Eyed Dragon-Horned Demon? If it was Taotie, this doesn't make sense. Isn't the Shape-shifting Monster one of Taotie's minions? Why would it kill him? The strangest part is that its heart was taken out!" Xiang Xueer was puzzled; since she couldn't figure it out, she decided to stop thinking about it.
She sneered and turned to sit against the stone wall beside her. "You two should hide; this time I will be the bait!"
"You as bait?" Li Yunyang immediately understood and strongly opposed. "No way, that's too dangerous! If Taotie shows up, what will we do if we can't handle it?"
"Then you sit here as bait?" Xiang Xueer glared at him. "Taotie loves to eat young women; didn't you act as bait last time? In the end, you didn't lure Taotie but attracted a swarm of bats instead!"
Li Yunyang was left speechless by her words. Lan Ran Qingtian thought for a moment. "This could work; we need to lure Taotie out first. Previously, we were led around in circles by these Demons; this time we must be cautious and remember not to act separately."
Since Qingtian, one of the Holy Ten Exorcists, had spoken, it seemed this was the only strategy for now. After hearing this, Li Yunyang stopped arguing. The two then hid in the dark corners of the cave while Xiang Xueer boldly sat against the stone wall, waiting for nightfall when Taotie would come looking for them.
Feeling drowsy, Xiang Xueer didn't know how long she had waited but suddenly felt the air around her grow cold. She reached out to touch her arm when suddenly a nerve in her body tensed up as thick White Mist began to seep into the cave from outside.
"It's coming?" Li Yunyang nervously turned to look at Xiang Xueer, startling Lan Ran Qingtian who had been resting with his eyes closed.
"Shh!" She raised her hand to stop his words. This Taotie was very clever; if it sensed them, it would definitely not show up if the three of them wanted to surround it.
Li Yunyang and Qingtian immediately held their breath and drew their weapons from behind, while Xiang Xueer took a deep breath and pretended to faint in the cave.
The sound grew clearer, and a buzzing vibration began to resonate within the cave, as if a giant beast was approaching. Xiang Xueer lay still, her hands hiding two silver daggers in her sleeves.
A terrifying shadow appeared on the ground, a pair of Red Eyes gleaming ominously in the dark cave. Li Yunyang dared not make a sound, glancing sideways at the ground where the black beast's figure was gradually closing in.
Finally, the magical beast appeared. The two of them hiding in the darkness caught a glimpse of its true form. It was a beast standing three meters tall, resembling a sheep but dragging a long tail like that of a Dragon Tail. It had a pair of red Dragon Horns on its head, and its limbs ended in claws like those of a tiger. Its fierce face was covered in shiny black fur as it tilted its head to look at Xiang Xueer, who lay on the ground.
It cautiously stepped forward a few paces, seemingly sensing no threat from her. Then it opened its mouth wide, revealing teeth as long as arms, slowly advancing toward Xiang Xueer.
A wave of bloody breath hit her face. Xiang Xueer felt something breathing right next to her; it was Taotie. She slightly opened her eyes and was startled by the sight of the magical beast before her. The daggers she held tightly became sweaty in her grip as she clenched them even harder.
Taotie sniffed at her, seemingly intrigued as it circled around Xiang Xueer, showing no immediate intention to eat her.
Li Yunyang could hardly contain himself; holding his Azure Dragon Sword, he prepared to step forward but was stopped by Lan Ran Qingtian. He shook his head, signaling him to wait and observe before taking action.
At that moment, Taotie suddenly spoke: "Hahaha! Little girl, don't think that just because you're lying here I will be fooled. You dare to come here to seek death; you have quite the courage!"
They had been discovered! The three were taken aback; since they had already been found out, they decided to take action directly. She turned around swiftly and brandished the daggers in her hands, aiming for Taotie's red eyes.
With a 'clang', its hard body deflected her daggers instantly, sending them flying aside and neutralizing Xiang Xueer's prepared attack.
"Uh-oh!" Xiang Xueer initially aimed to strike decisively, but unexpectedly, her attack only provoked the demon. It let out a low growl and raised its front hoof to stomp towards her.
"Azure Dragon Slash!" Li Yunyang happened to leap into action, raising his Azure Dragon Sword to unleash his signature move. Several white sword energies flew forward, making a series of 'bang bang' sounds as they harmlessly struck against Taotie's tough hide and scales, seemingly just tickling it.
"Hmm?" Taotie's attention quickly shifted from Xiang Xueer to Li Yunyang. Seizing the opportunity, Xiang Xueer swiftly dodged out from under the iron hoof, grabbed the Crossbow from her back, and fired three shots at the creature's head. However, the bullets merely fell to the ground after lightly bouncing off like raindrops hitting a wall.
"What the hell, is this beast made of iron?" Xiang Xueer cursed. It seemed she would have to use her AK-47. Just as she was about to retrieve the weapon from her back, the creature appeared enraged. With a swift flick of its Dragon Tail, it struck her hard against the wall.
"Ah!" Xiang Xueer screamed as she fell to the ground from the cave wall, immediately experiencing a ringing in her ears. All she could hear was a buzzing sound, and her mind felt scattered; everything around her blurred into three shadows.
"Dead Girl, are you okay?" She shook her head vigorously and saw Li Yunyang rushing towards her. However, Taotie let out a lion's roar.
The cave shook violently as if an earthquake of magnitude eight had struck. Not only did the ground tremble, but the walls also began to sway, threatening to collapse at any moment.
The roar continued, and its gaping fangs resembled massive blades. The howling sound that erupted from its mouth felt like sharp edges; her ears were nearly deafened by the noise.
From the darkness where he had been hiding, Lan Ran Qingtian quickly shed his clothing. His solid muscles and arms bore beautiful patterns of dragons and tigers that moved with him. He raised both hands and slowly closed his eyes, forming his palms into a tiger fist shape before shouting: "Exorcism Essence: Tiger Biting Twin Dragons Fist!"
In the darkness, Lan Ran Qingtian's hands moved like a tiger's teeth, each strike carrying lethal speed and power. Xiang Xueer recovered from the deafening tremors and was astonished by the confrontation before her. Under his relentless assault, Taotie was actually on the defensive, constantly dodging and swinging its tail to block his attacks.
Five-Character Formula? Li Yunyang widened his eyes in surprise. To be among the Holy Ten Exorcists, one must master the Seven Character Formula. Just witnessing the Five-Character Formula was impressive enough; if he were to use the Seven Character Formula along with his Lion-Hybrid ability, Lan Ran Qingtian truly was formidable.
