It turned its head slowly, the deep and unfathomable roundness of its Killing Intent resembling that of an emperor. Its piercing red eyes looked down upon the earth, devoid of hesitation or compassion. With just a glance, it made all living beings around it kneel in worship.
"Who... who are you?" The Shape-shifting Monster transformed into Xiang Xueer, staring in shock at the demon before her. Her teeth chattered, trembling so much that she felt like biting her own tongue, and even her voice shook; no, her very soul trembled.
"What are you?" The crimson eyes fixed on the tiny creature before it. Xiao took a small step forward, causing the Shape-shifting Monster to sit down in fright.
"Don't... don't come any closer!" it cried out, trembling. What kind of demon could turn the world upside down with just a glance, making all beasts submit? Even demons were terrified.
A murderous smile crept across its lips as its sharp claws glinted. Suddenly, a scream echoed through the forest, accompanied by heart-wrenching cries.
"You... you hear that!" Li Yunyang frowned, every hair on his body standing on end. "What is making that sound? It sounds so terrifying!"
With the wind, a faint smell of blood wafted through the air. Li Yunyang turned to look at Qingtian beside him. "This, this smell... I remember it; it's from that Shape-shifting Monster!"
The two were instantly shocked and quickly headed towards the direction of the bloody scent. As they rushed into the forest, the sight before them left them both stunned.
Red Eyes turned its head, with red hair and crimson eyes, crowned with Dragon Horns. Its demonic appearance immediately intimidated both of them. Li Yunyang widened his eyes, fixated on the blood dripping from its claws, while a person hung from a branch above—head drooping, enlarged pupils filled with terror, blood gushing from the hollow in their chest...
Li Yunyang stared in shock at the person hanging from the tree; it was none other than Xiang Xueer.
"Demon, I will kill you!" Li Yunyang lost control, disregarding who his opponent was as he raised his Azure Dragon Sword to charge forward. However, he was stopped by Qingtian, who stood beside him. "Don't be impulsive; that's not Miss Jiao Rong!"
"What did you say?" Li Yunyang turned in surprise to look at him. Following Qingtian's hand, he noticed that beneath the skin peeling away from the arm, yellow fox fur was still exposed.
It is the Shape-shifting Monster! Li Yunyang suddenly came to his senses, and only then did the two begin to examine the unfamiliar demon before them. Lan Ran Qingtian held his breath, staring at the pair of Dragon Horns on its head. Is it a dragon? No, dragons shouldn't appear in this place, and its appearance resembles that of a demon even more.
"Be careful; it's not an ordinary character!" Lan Ran Qingtian said seriously as he glanced at Li Yunyang. The two took a small step back; even a fool could sense that the demon before them, fixated on the Dragon Horns, was no ordinary foe.
As the saying goes, top experts are better at hiding Killing Intent. The Crimson-Haired, Red-Eyed monster simply stared at the two for a long time, its red pupils constantly contracting but showing no intention of attacking.
"I am Li Yunyang, the chief disciple of Feng Qingyang, the head of the Holy Ten Exorcists. Demon, quickly reveal your name!" Li Yunyang swallowed hard and shouted, but there was no confidence in his voice.
What sound? Who is speaking? Xiang Xueer vaguely felt her blood boiling in her veins, yet she remained deeply asleep. She struggled to open her eyes, but it felt as if her body was pressed down by a heavy stone, rendering her unable to move.
"Ugh!" The Dragon-Horned Demon suddenly covered its eyes, seemingly feeling unwell as something inside it struggled. It slowly lowered its hand, and the red pupil of its right eye gradually turned black, resembling that of a normal human.
"What... what is happening?" Li Yunyang frowned as he observed everything unfolding before him. The demon seemed to be in great pain, but what was this sudden change to black eyes?
"Roar!" The Dragon-Horned Demon suddenly howled at the sky, causing the ground to tremble. Both of them felt as if their hearts were about to stop from the shock. Then the demon abruptly turned and stumbled into the forest, disappearing without a trace in an instant.
Li Yunyang held his breath until he could no longer detect the demon's presence nearby; only then did he let out a sigh of relief and exclaim, "Wow, that really scared me! This guy looks terrifying!"
"Indeed!" Lan Ran Qingtian felt the same way; just seeing it sent chills down his spine. He slowly walked toward the Tree Trunk and looked up at the Shape-shifting Monster hanging from the branches. After surveying the surrounding environment, he couldn't help but gasp.
There were no signs of struggle or fighting around. Could it be that this Shape-shifting Monster was killed by that Dragon-Horned Demon with one blow? Logically speaking, a shape-shifting demon should be considered a mid-to-high-level beast. To hang such a creature on a tree and extract its heart without giving it any chance to resist—what kind of demon is this?
As one of the Holy Ten Exorcists, Lan Ran Qingtian suddenly felt a pang of fear. Not acting earlier had indeed been a wise choice. He swallowed hard and glanced at Li Yunyang: "I thought that Tuo was already one of the fiercest beasts; I never expected to see such an impressive demon for the first time!"
"Who on earth is this?" Li Yunyang glanced down at the heart lying on the ground, still intact in shape. It was clear that it had been pulled out with great force and speed.
"Xiang Xueer, where are you?" Li Yunyang turned to look deeper into the forest, increasingly worried about her. Not to mention Taotie, he hoped she wouldn't encounter that Dragon Horns monster from earlier!
The black mist had begun to swirl chaotically throughout the forest. Xiang Xueer vaguely started to see her surroundings. Strange, where am I? Why can't my body respond at all?
She slowly reached out her hand, noticing that her long black nails were faintly stained with bright red blood. Xiang Xueer blinked hard; could it be an illusion? Suddenly, she felt an unusual heaviness in her body. Her legs began to regain sensation, but they felt as heavy as lead. With a thud, she collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness.
The darkness that had enveloped her began to recede, and the purple mist slowly dissipated. The sky started to reveal its true form, but before long, it began to rain, with droplets pattering continuously on the ground.
"It seems my body still can't handle it completely. No matter, it's just a matter of time." A figure stood nearby and slowly approached, blue eyes gazing at the unconscious person on the ground before quickly vanishing into the trees.
So cold. Xiang Xueer felt as if she were standing naked in a freezing snowfield, chilled to the bone. She finally began to regain consciousness and slowly opened her eyes. The rain fell softly, forming small circles in the shallow grooves on the ground.
"Ugh!" She groaned softly and struggled to prop herself up with her arms. Dense trees surrounded her; what place is this? How did I end up lying on the ground? Anger surged as she recalled what had happened earlier—Xiaocui had been killed by that Shape-shifting Monster. She was furious, but everything that happened in between until she woke up was a complete blank.
What’s going on? She patted her forehead and suddenly noticed that her right hand was covered in blood.
When did this happen? Did I get it from holding Xiaocui's corpse? Without thinking much more, she unsteadily stood up. It hurt; her whole body felt like it was falling apart. She rubbed her icy arm, feeling lost and unsure of which direction to go or where she was.
