With a 'thud,' the claws of the Demon pierced through Xiaocui's chest. "Ah!" the child let out a horrific scream, and Xiang Xueer, following closely behind, was stunned by the scene before her.
Blood slowly flowed from the corner of Xiaocui's mouth as the deformed, sharp claws, along with the entire hand, had already penetrated the child's chest. With a demonic force, it yanked out a bright red heart from her chest cavity, blood gushing from the hollow body and instantly staining the ground red.
"Sister, sister!" The child's remaining gaze pleaded for salvation, a trembling hand reaching out to Xiang Xueer for help. Xiang Xueer stood there, watching the unfolding horror, feeling a surge of hot blood rush to her head, losing control completely.
"No!" She widened her eyes, her furious roar echoing through the forest, filled with sorrow and rage.
"Hahahaha!" Following that were chilling bursts of laughter. The Shape-shifting Monster disdainfully tossed aside the child, leaving her on the ground as it turned and spread its wings to fly away.
Xiang Xueer rushed over to support the child's body. Those eyes, unable to close due to death, seemed to be looking at her, resenting her—why didn’t you save me?
It’s all my fault; it’s all my fault. It’s because I’m not strong enough that I couldn’t save this innocent child. Her heart was clouded with guilt and resentment as she tightly embraced the cold corpse of the child and turned to look in the direction where the Shape-shifting Monster had flown off.
"I will kill you; I must kill you!" she murmured to herself. She had promised that woman she would bring back her child, but she failed. Why? Because I am too weak; that’s right.
She slowly stood up, feeling an inexplicable surge of blood boiling within her. Everything began to feel hazy; her vision blurred abnormally as if she were burning. A wave of heat surged to her head, and with a 'thud,' she knelt on the ground as her body began to undergo strange changes.
"My... my hand?" Xiang Xueer extended her hand and vaguely saw through her blurred vision that her nails were gradually elongating. Black claws grew from each of her ten fingers. Thinking it was an illusion, she shook her head vigorously to see clearly but immediately fell into a deep unconsciousness.
Next to the dead child, beneath Xiang Xueer's feet, a shadow began to stretch slowly. Dragon-like horns gradually emerged from its head, and black claws elongated into more slender and terrifying shapes. A pair of Red Eyes flickered briefly before vanishing into the forest.
On the cliff opposite stood a figure with blue pupils widening rapidly as they focused on the swiftly moving object in the forest. After a moment of shock, an evil smile crept onto its lips: "Witch reborn; all demons will submit. Demon Lord, your goal is about to be achieved!"
The clear sky was suddenly obscured by dark clouds; the sun lost its light as darkness enveloped the land. The white clouds were shrouded in a layer of pale purple, mysterious and eerie.
The entire Misty Forest began to fill with an evil aura. For a moment, the beasts and monsters within the forest inexplicably started to tremble, frightened and scurrying about, hiding everywhere.
"What’s going on?" Li Yunyang and Lan Ran Qingtian were walking along the path, searching for Xiang Xueer's shadow when they suddenly saw the beasts fleeing in all directions, astonished.
Li Yunyang wrinkled his nose and sniffed the air: "The scent of demons is everywhere, but I don’t sense any intention to attack. Instead, it feels like they are afraid of something, as if they are running away."
"Running away?" Qingtian frowned. Suddenly, both of them realized something and quickly ran toward the direction where the group of monsters had fled. On their way, they encountered several girls who had just escaped from a cave.
Seeing this, Li Yunyang grabbed one of them and anxiously asked, "How... how did you escape? Where is Xiang Xueer? Have you seen her?"
The panicked girls pointed at the cave across from them and shouted, "We escaped from over there! Those two Shape-shifting Monsters wanted to eat us. One girl stayed behind to save us and is still trapped inside the cave!"
"It must be that Dead Girl!" Li Yunyang rushed toward the cave entrance. After Qingtian directed the girls on where to go, he followed closely behind. When he arrived, he found Li Yunyang standing motionless at the cave entrance.
"What’s wrong?" Qingtian asked as he walked over. On the ground lay the already deceased Xiaocui, her heart discarded not far away.
The heart-wrenching scene filled both men with anger and sorrow. Lan Ran Qingtian took a deep breath and shouted angrily, "That damned monster! If I catch you, I will crush you to pieces!"
With the fleeing girls and the dead Xiaocui, Li Yunyang turned in shock to look at the cave entrance, his heart sinking as he rushed inside. His greatest fear was seeing Xiang Xueer in danger. However, upon entering the cave, there was no sign of Xiang Xueer; instead, a blinded Shape-shifting Monster lay dead on the ground.
"She’s not here; could she have already escaped?" Li Yunyang searched every corner of the cave but found no trace of Xiang Xueer.
At that moment, Qingtian reached out to touch the Demon’s corpse: "She must have escaped. This Shape-shifting Monster's body is already cold, and there are signs of a struggle in this cave!"
Shape-shifting Monster? Li Yunyang was startled and turned to shout, "Qingtian, do you remember what that girl who ran away said before? She mentioned that there are two Shape-shifting Monsters in this cave, and now that one is dead, that means there’s still one left!"
"There's still one!" Lan Ran Qingtian recalled that the girl had indeed said this. Given the temperament of the one that just died, it was clear that Xiang Xueer had killed one of them, while the other must have killed the child named Xiaocui. It was obvious she had chased after it!
"This foolish girl!" Li Yunyang cursed angrily, "I've told her hundreds of times not to be reckless, but she just wouldn't listen. I told her not to show off, and now she's gone after it. It's infuriating!"
Qingtian quickly exited the cave. Looking at the darkening sky, a bad premonition surged within him. "It's too late to say anything now; we need to find her quickly. I have a bad feeling about this; I just sense something terrible is going to happen!"
"Yeah!" After Li Yunyang observed his surroundings for a moment, he noticed broken branches on a small path in the forest. The two exchanged glances and headed in that direction.
In the dim forest, a Shape-shifting Monster circled low in the air. Its eerie Blue Eyes flickered briefly before it quickly hid behind a rock. A strange smile slowly crept across its mouth as it smeared its blood-stained claws across its face. Instantly, patches of delicate white human skin began to cover its fur.
Before long, a figure stood up slowly from behind the stone wall. It reached out to touch its pale and pitiful cheek and smiled seductively, "Hehe, so it's Xiang Xueer, huh? Indeed, this appearance is much more charming!"
A gust of black wind rushed through the forest, and those with bloodthirsty Red Eyes made all the animals tremble in fear as they curled up on the ground in submission.
Suddenly, its footsteps halted as if sensing that its prey was nearby. The surrounding black mist gradually receded as its blood-red eyes scanned the entire forest.
"Who's there?" A charming voice called out from behind the stone wall as a beautiful and enchanting figure swayed into view. Leaning against the stone wall, she blinked her sparkling almond-shaped eyes at the figure.
Her blood-red fluffy hair contrasted with her crimson eyes, and atop her head were a pair of black Dragon Horns. She wore a Black Cloak, adorned with dragon claws on her shoulders, giving her an exceptionally fearsome appearance.
