"Woo woo woo!" Several girls quickly shut their mouths in fear and obediently sat in their designated spots. The one with Yellow Eyes glanced sideways at the still unconscious Xiang Xueer on the ground and kicked her butt with a 'smack': "Hmph! This little girl hasn't woken up yet, what a load of nonsense Exorcist!"
The two laughed loudly, and their footsteps gradually faded away, presumably leaving through the cave entrance. After a while, one of the children whispered, "Sister, they are gone!"
Xiang Xueer swallowed her anger. Hearing the child's words, she finally opened her eyes and turned to look at the cave entrance. Furious, she sat up abruptly and cursed, "Damn it, how dare you kick my butt! Just wait, I'll skin you alive for this Fox Fur!"
"What do we do now?" a little girl asked her. "That Taotie will come again at night; it comes to eat people in the cave every night!"
"Every night? It seems we still have time to escape!" Xiang Xueer pondered. Looking outside, it appeared to still be midday; there was plenty of time before nightfall. However, she was most frustrated that all her weapons were left behind in the previous forest.
She racked her brain for a solution while all the girls in the cave looked at her expectantly. She felt a heavy burden on her shoulders. Suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed one of the newly brought girls had a Silver Hairpin in her hair.
A smile instantly appeared on Xiang Xueer's face as she hopped over to that girl: "Hey, can I borrow your Silver Hairpin for a moment?"
"Silver Hairpin? What do you need it for?" The girl looked at her in surprise. Xiang Xueer smiled mysteriously and said, "Don't worry, I have my ways; just let me use it!"
After saying that, she opened her mouth and bit down on the hairpin to pull it out from the girl's hair. Then she instructed the girl to turn around and held the pin with her mouth to secure its position. She bent down and vigorously rubbed the sharp end of the pin against the Vine binding her hands.
Sweat dripped down from her forehead. As long as that silver object touched any demon-like creature, it would usually have an effect, and this pin was no exception. Under Xiang Xueer's efforts, it made a sizzling sound against the Vine and even emitted faint white smoke.
Seeing this situation, everyone immediately felt hopeful and quietly cheered from the side: "Come on, you're almost there! Just a bit more effort!"
A bit more effort? I'm about to die from exhaustion! You all try using some strength! Xiang Xueer's mouth and teeth felt like they were about to fall apart, but as the saying goes, clever birds find ways to peck open their cages and escape; how much more so for humans.
"Bang!" After her relentless efforts, the Vine finally opened. The girl, who had been bound, was finally freed from her restraints. She quickly picked up a hairpin to cut the bindings on her feet and then began to untie the other girls in the cave one by one.
"One, two, three... twelve!" Xiang Xueer counted the number of people. Including herself, there were exactly twelve individuals in the cave. The girl approached to cut her Vine, and she pointed with her chin at a child beside her: "You untie her first; her mother is waiting outside in the woods and is almost dying of worry!"
"Mom is waiting for me outside?" The child smiled, tears welling in her eyes. "Thank you, sister! You can call me Xiaocui!"
Everything was going smoothly, and Xiang Xueer's hands were soon freed as well. She picked up the hairpin and was about to free her own feet when suddenly, footsteps from outside gradually approached.
"Oh no!" Xiang Xueer exclaimed in alarm, but it was already too late. Yellow Eyes and Blue-Eyed Shapeshifter had entered. Seeing that everyone inside had been untied from their Vines, they immediately shouted, "Great! You dare to escape? You're asking for death!"
"Ah, help!" A woman's terrified scream filled the cave instantly. Chaos erupted inside as over ten girls fled in panic. The two monsters extended their sharp claws and fangs, ready to unleash a massacre.
Damn it! Xiang Xueer cursed under her breath and quickened her movements. Why was this Vine so hard to break? With a 'pop,' the bindings on her feet finally came loose. She leaped forward, performing a front flip and landing directly in front of the two monsters: "Stop right there! Your opponent is me!"
"You little girl are just a defeated foe of our brother. We were going to offer you to our boss Taotie, but since you want to die so badly, we'll grant your wish!" The Blue-Eyed Shapeshifter roared before lunging at Xiang Xueer.
"Hmph, big words! If you have the ability, come at me!" While Xiang Xueer defended against Blue Eyes' attack, she also kept an eye out for Yellow Eyes' sneak attack. However, after learning from their last battle, she made sure not to leave any blind spots behind her; otherwise, if Yellow Eyes and Blue Eyes finished her off and another monster appeared, she would be doomed.
The cave was not the best place for combat; however, it provided agile and quick Xiang Xueer with many opportunities. Using the strength of the stone walls like a flying swallow, she delivered a series of kicks to the Demon before taking advantage of its momentary inability to counterattack. She pulled out a Silver Hairpin that she had hidden in her sleeve and swiftly stabbed it into Blue Eyes' eye with a 'swish.'
"Ah!" A horrific scream erupted as Blue Eyes transformed and covered his smoking eye with his hand, rolling on the ground in madness while continuously howling, "Ah! My eye! It hurts so much! It hurts!"
Xiang Xueer didn't dare relax for a moment; she kicked fiercely at the throat of the now-blind Demon. Instantly, it collapsed on the ground, convulsing without any chance of fighting back.
There was another one. Xiang Xueer had just dealt with the cunning Fierce Fox known as Yellow Eyes, but as she turned around, she suddenly stopped her movements.
"Hehehe!" The yellow eyes revealed a narrow slit, curving like a devil's smile. A cold light flickered in the dark room as it held Xiaocui by the neck, dangling her in mid-air, sneering, "Oh? Why did you stop? Aren't you tough? Come on!"
"Cough, cough, sister, help me!" Xiaocui was being choked so tightly that she could barely breathe, her little face turning red. That damned beast's fingers seemed to tighten further with every passing moment, threatening her life.
This was bad. In the chaos earlier, Xiaocui had failed to escape. What should I do now? Xiang Xueer glanced at the ground covered in dust and slightly shifted her feet, trying to maintain a distance more favorable for an attack against the fox.
"Shameless! Using a child as leverage is no skill at all. Let her go, and I'll fight you for three hundred rounds!" Xiang Xueer shouted angrily, veins popping on her forehead. Strange, why did that phrase sound so familiar?
"Hmph!" Yellow Eyes extended its sharp fingertip slowly towards Xiaocui. "Little girl, you'd better not make any sudden moves; otherwise, I'll make this little one bleed out immediately."
After hearing this, Xiang Xueer slowly raised her hands. "Okay, okay, I won't move. Just don't hurt her!"
As soon as she finished speaking, she kicked up dust from the ground, creating a cloud of smoke that enveloped the cave. For a moment, the cunning fox squinted its eyes; however, it was too clever. With one hand still gripping Xiaocui's neck, it spread its wings and took advantage of the chaos to fly out of the cave.
"Stop! Don't run!" Xiang Xueer quickly turned around and swiftly removed the Silver Hairpin from Blue Eyes' corpse. With a gust of wind at her feet, she chased after the Shape-shifting Monster out of the cave.
Once the Demon emerged from the cave, it no longer needed to fear Xiang Xueer. The forest was their sanctuary where they could freely tear apart any invading humans.
