Qingtian looked at the gradually calming earth, the trembling ground slowly returning to peace. Then he raised his head to check the sky: "It's almost dawn. We need to hurry and rescue the child; otherwise, after tonight, that child might not have any hope of survival!"

After saying that, she pointed to the middle path: "I’ll choose this one. I have a feeling I'll encounter Taotie here. Hehe!"

The path Xiang Xueer was on led directly up the mountain. The further she walked, the steeper the slope became, eventually turning into a dead end, with a large mountain blocking her way.
"Great, am I supposed to climb the mountain?" Xiang Xueer looked up at the vast mountain peak, turned her head to glance around, preparing to find another route. At that moment, she noticed a cave several meters high at the foot of the mountain, its entrance covered in moss and weeds, suggesting it had been undiscovered for a long time.
Standing at the cave entrance, a cold wind blew from inside, causing her to smile: "Hmph, with the wind blowing in, it seems this cave can lead through the mountain!"
After taking two steps forward, she noticed bloodstains appearing intermittently on the ground. Xiang Xueer was certain that someone had passed through here. Without hesitation, she took out a fire starter from her waist and quickly entered the cave.
The cave was exceptionally dark. Xiang Xueer groped her way forward slowly, gripping her silver dagger tightly in her other hand. After walking for a while, she suddenly sensed footsteps nearby.

In the darkness, a figure was illuminated by flickering light. Before her dagger could fall, a large hand reached out and grabbed hers: "Hey, Shirley, it's me!"
"Huh?" The voice sounded familiar. Xiang Xueer squinted and brought the fire starter closer to reveal Li Yunyang's face in the light. She slowly retracted her dagger and scolded him: "Are you crazy? Didn't I tell you to take the left path? What are you doing here?"
"I was worried about you!" Li Yunyang stepped forward slowly after she put away her dagger and asked, "What’s going on? Did you find anything?"
"Not yet!" Xiang Xueer shook her head and prepared to continue deeper into the cave when suddenly Li Yunyang reached out from behind and hugged her waist, startling her into shouting: "Hey, what are you doing?"
Li Yunyang held her tightly in his arms and pouted with a smile: "What's wrong? No one can see us anyway. Taotie is too dangerous; let's not chase after it. How about we wait until it's a bit lighter? Qingtian has already returned to the fork in the road and asked me to come find you!"
"What?" Xiang Xueer was momentarily confused. Just moments ago, the three of them had agreed to hurry and find the child before dawn; now Qingtian wanted to change strategies? Wait until morning to search? This was simply too strange!
"Hey, let go of me, you pighead!" Xiang Xueer angrily swatted away his arms that were tightly holding her. The scent coming from him suddenly raised her suspicions.
Strange, I remember when I was hugging Li Yunyang before, he had a strong herbal smell. Why has that scent suddenly disappeared? Moreover, his sudden appearance behind her made her feel very suspicious.

At that moment, Xiang Xueer suddenly recalled that Lan Ran Qingtian had mentioned Li Yunyang encountering a shape-shifting monster in the Misty Forest. Could it be?
She realized something and turned to look at her surroundings. The environment inside the cave was complex, and the entrance was too small; if a fight broke out, it would likely be disadvantageous for her.
Thus, she held back and slowly slowed her pace while creating a safe distance. She followed behind Li Yunyang and gradually exited the cave.
It was almost dawn; the moon began to hide away, and a line of light appeared on the horizon. The surroundings started to brighten up. Xiang Xueer held her breath and slowly raised her AK-47, aiming at the back of his head.
"Hehehe!" Suddenly, Li Yunyang stopped in his tracks and let out a strange laugh. He slowly turned around, his yellow beast-like eyes fixated on Xiang Xueer in front of him: "Oh dear, oh dear, I've been discovered again. Is it that my skills are too poor or that you are too good? This is already the second time today I've been seen through; this has never happened before!"
This bastard, does he have eyes on the back of his head? Xiang Xueer smirked coldly: "It's not that your skills are poor; it's that your brain is dumb. You can't change your true nature no matter how you disguise yourself. Didn't your mother teach you? If you want to deceive me, you're still too inexperienced!"
The yellow eyes instantly turned cold, and the smile on his lips gradually became sinister. The skin on his face began to peel away slowly, chunks of flesh falling off as it revealed its true form.
"Hmph!" Xiang Xueer looked at the true face of the shape-shifting monster before her and raised her gun to aim at its head, bursting into laughter: "Oh dear, I thought you were some formidable beast; turns out you're just an ugly fox playing with human skin masks!"
