Xiang Xueer rubbed her eyes and wondered where she was. She turned to look at the suspension bridge beside her, and on a skull-shaped black stone wall, red blood was glaringly written with three large characters: Demon Prison Tower. 0

Demon Prison Tower? She frowned in shock. Wasn't this the Demon Prison Tower that Heart Demon mentioned before? Demon Lord and Demon Prison Tower? Xiang Xueer squinted her eyes, hesitated for a moment, and decided to go across the river to see what was going on. 0

She resolutely stepped onto the suspension bridge, which swayed unsteadily, making it difficult to maintain balance. She gripped the chains tightly and barely managed to move forward. 0

‘Splash!’ The sound of rushing water filled the air, accompanied by a strong stench of blood. Covering her nose, she looked down at the floating bridge below, and the sight left her stunned. The river was flowing with glaring bright red blood, and countless white human bones were floating on its surface. The scene was simply breathtaking. 0

It felt like ‘hell on earth,’ Xiang Xueer thought to describe it. She swayed, feeling as if everything beneath her feet was suspended in mid-air, and the boiling blood seemed ready to swallow her whole. 0

Holding onto the chains, she slowly made her way toward the tower on the opposite side. Just as she was about to reach the shore, suddenly there was a loud ‘crack’ like a chain breaking. The sound was piercing, and she turned to look, only to see that one of the chain links beneath her feet was slowly breaking apart. 0

Xiang Xueer quickly scanned the other links; once this chain broke, the bridge would tilt dangerously. She hurriedly ran toward the shore that was now within reach and leaped onto the rocks on the other side. 0

Behind her came a series of loud crashes as the broken link connected with three others, bizarrely exploding in an instant. With several booming sounds, the middle of the entire suspension bridge began to collapse, splitting in two and falling into the turbulent blood-red waters below. 0

“How could this happen?” Xiang Xueer frowned as she looked at her blocked retreat path, feeling a wave of fear wash over her. What kind of place was this? Since there was no way back, she had no choice but to move forward. She turned to look at the black tower that was now so close and slowly walked toward it. 0

However, although the tower seemed near, Xiang Xueer had been walking for a long time. She occasionally looked up; why hadn’t she arrived after nearly an hour? The distance she estimated shouldn’t have been this far. 0

“Ah!” Suddenly, she let out a sharp scream as she felt a sharp pain under her feet. Looking down, she saw a patch of thorns; sharp spikes had pierced through her shoe soles. Xiang Xueer quickly lifted her foot with force and sat down to check her injured foot, which was already stained with blood. 0

Looking around at Reading Network, patches of dense thorns covered the mountains and fields as far as the eye could see. What was going on? I’m not going there! She stood up, enduring the pain as she turned to leave when suddenly dark clouds began swirling toward her from atop the black tower. 0

"What is this?" Xiang Xueer squinted her eyes to see more clearly. It wasn't until a dark mass flew towards her that she realized, to her dismay, that the sky was filled with black bats. The Red Eyes glimmered with a chilling light, startling her into quickly hiding behind a tall stone wall. She only peeked out once the swarm of black bats had passed. 0

"This place is so strange," Xiang Xueer thought, not wanting to move forward any longer. Just moments ago, she had been at the Ouyang Residence; how had she suddenly arrived in this eerie place? As a seasoned assassin, she could sense the intense Killing Intent emanating from a tall tower not far ahead. 0

Xiang Xueer shivered as she hugged her shoulders and turned to leave. Just then, a roar echoed from the direction of the tower, reverberating throughout the space. The sound was like the breath of a giant dragon, causing the ground to tremble violently. 0

She stared wide-eyed at the black tower radiating purple malevolence, wondering what could be inside that made her feel such dread and fear. 0

Having been an assassin for many years, killing was as easy as drinking water for her. Yet now, she felt her very soul quaking with an instinctual fear. 0

"What are you? I'm not afraid of you!" Xiang Xueer shouted with a trembling voice, preparing herself for defense. Since arriving in this world, she had encountered all sorts of monsters; who could possibly scare her? 0

"Hahaha!" Laughter erupted from within the giant tower, shaking the entire space as if it might shatter into pieces. Xiang Xueer clenched her teeth tightly and shouted angrily, "What are you laughing at? If you have the guts, come out and fight me one-on-one!" 0

In her mind, she conjured images of terrifying monsters, including tyrannosaurs. Suddenly, there was silence from within the tower. She stood frozen in place, staring at the black giant tower. 0

In an instant—so fast she didn't dare blink—she felt a pair of Red Eyes fixated on her from within the tower. They were eyes with elongated pupils that sent chills down her spine. All the hair on her body stood on end, leaving her without any strength to resist as she collapsed to the ground. Death—that was the aura of death she sensed. 0

"Whoosh!" A gust of wind swept by, and Xiang Xueer gasped in surprise as she opened her eyes. She found herself staring at the familiar beams and ceiling of her room. Sweat had soaked her pillow; slowly, she sat up. Was this a dream? Was it really just a dream? Why did it feel so vivid as if she were truly there? 0

"Ah!" She took a deep breath, relieved it was only a nightmare. She reached up to wipe the sweat from her forehead and felt a momentary sense of impending death; it felt as if her heart might stop beating. Those red eyes were anything but human—far more terrifying than any demon; she never wanted to see those beastly crimson eyes again in her life. 0

Feeling parched and dry-mouthed, she turned towards the table and reached for the teacup on it. Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her left foot. She quickly sat down and took off her shoe, discovering that the wound inflicted by Thorns in her dream had manifested in reality. 0

How could this happen? Xiang Xueer couldn't believe her eyes. It was clearly a dream, but why did her feet hurt just like in the dream? This was simply too bizarre, completely beyond her normal range of thought. 0

At that moment, the door rang with a 'ding ding ding,' and then they heard Li Yunyang's loud voice outside, like a moving loudspeaker: "Hey, Dead Girl, get up already! The sun is shining on your butt!" 0

Xiang Xueer turned around and opened the door, glaring at him with a forced smile: "What the hell are you shouting about? Keep it up and I'll mess you up!" 0

"What does 'mess you up' mean?" Li Yunyang scratched his head, completely confused by what she said. Xiang Xueer went back into her room to gather all her gear, and then the two of them prepared to leave Illusion City for their next destination. 0

Sima Yi and Sima Zhao instructed their servants to select the best two horses from their estate for the two of them, and then sent them to the city gate of Illusion City. 0

Sima Yi took out a heavy little package from his sleeve and presented it to them: "Although it's not much, it's a small token of appreciation from the people of Illusion City. I hope it will be useful for your journey!" 0

As soon as Li Yunyang saw the shape of the small package, his eyes immediately narrowed into the shape of gold ingots. Without saying a word, he took it: "It'll be useful, it'll definitely be useful!" 0

Sima Zhao pouted as he looked at Li Yunyang's greedy expression, feeling very sympathetic towards Xiang Xueer. He shook his head: "Shirley, if you think he's not suitable, remember to come back to Illusion City to find me. My door is always open for you!" 0

"Hahaha!" As soon as Xiang Xueer heard this, she burst out laughing. This little boy was indeed charming; what a pity that she still had to hit the road. Otherwise, she could have had both father and son in her arms. 0

Before her laughter had even faded, Li Yunyang quickly wrapped his arm around her shoulders and glared at Sima Zhao: "You brat, she's my wife! I'm taking her to meet my master, so don't even think about it!" 0
