At this moment, Mo Xiao Li, riding away, felt pain all over, especially in his heart, which hurt unbearably. The feeling of being betrayed by the one he loved most was truly heart-wrenching.
After returning to the palace, he locked himself alone in Tianming Palace, mocking his own foolishness. The woman he had loved since his youth had done such a thing. He kept recalling everything he had done for her and all the past events, suddenly realizing how foolish he truly was. So many signs indicated that she did not want to stay in this palace, yet he naively believed that his love had moved her. It turned out that everything was a deception.
With nowhere to vent his anger, he could only clench his fists and sweep everything in front of him to the ground. The palace maids and eunuchs in Tianming Palace were puzzled by the emperor's behavior and could only stand quietly to the side with their heads down, afraid of being caught up in his fury.
At that moment, Mo Xiao Li suddenly shouted, "Bring Little Prince here!"
The person below quickly responded and hurried out. The weather was nice today, so Ziyue and Huixin were taking Little Prince for a stroll outside. However, after walking a short distance, they saw someone from Tianming Palace approaching and thought it was the emperor wanting to see Little Prince, so they happily brought him along.
But they never expected that upon entering, they would sense something was wrong. Everyone was fearfully keeping their heads down, occasionally hearing low growls from inside. The Little Prince, with wide eyes, looked at her. Once they entered, they realized that many people were already kneeling in the hall, and the entire Tianming Palace was in disarray, with Mo Xiao Li standing at the top, angrily staring at them.
Upon seeing them enter, without waiting for Ziyue and Huixin to pay their respects, he loudly reprimanded, "Bring Little Prince here!"
Ziyue felt a shiver run through her; something about the emperor today felt different from usual, but she didn't know what was wrong. She could only step forward slowly while the Little Prince in her arms clearly seemed frightened and suddenly began to cry loudly.
Unexpectedly, Mo Xiao Li shouted, "Be quiet! If you keep crying, I will kill you!"
The Little Prince not only did not stop but cried even louder. When they reached Mo Xiao Li, he rudely took the Little Prince from Ziyue's arms and said in a voice only she could hear, "Prepare a bowl of water!" Then he told those bowing down, "You all leave. No one is allowed to enter without my command!"
After giving his orders, he looked at the crying Little Prince with no warmth in his eyes, as if looking at a dying prisoner. Ziyue, worried about this scene, respectfully stepped aside to bring over a bowl of water. As soon as she placed it on the table, Mo Xiao Li took out a dagger from beside him and without hesitation made a cut on the Little Prince's hand. The crying grew even louder; Ziyue, anxious on the side, didn’t know what to do.
After a few drops fell into the bowl, Mo Xiao Li returned the Little Prince to Ziyue's arms and then made a cut on his own hand. As their blood slowly mixed in the bowl of water, his expression softened slightly. Meanwhile, the Little Prince continued to cry incessantly. Feeling somewhat reluctant, he said, "Take him for a dressing in the afternoon." After saying this, he angrily left without caring about his own bleeding hand.
Looking at the departing Mo Xiao Li, Ziyue's eyes were filled with confusion and fear. At that moment, Huixin walked in and, seeing the dazed Ziyue, hurriedly asked, "Ziyue, what happened to the Emperor?"
"I don't know either. It seems this matter is related to the Empress," before Ziyue could finish speaking, Huixin noticed a bowl nearby. Her large eyes were filled with confusion as she looked at Ziyue, who nodded affirmatively. The two fell silent until Li Fusheng entered. Ziyue quickly approached him and asked, "Li Gonggong, what happened to the Emperor today?"
Li Fusheng looked helpless and said, "You must not tell anyone about this. The Emperor has completely changed; he smashed everything in Qinxiang Garden. Now Qinxiang Garden is in complete disarray. He just issued an order for you to take the Little Prince to the Mausoleum to live." With that, he sighed deeply.
Ziyue exclaimed in surprise, "That place is cold all year round. The Little Prince is still young; he might not be able to withstand the climate there. How can the Emperor treat him like this?"
"Alas, there's no need to say anything more. You should prepare to leave now. If the Emperor sees you still in the palace, I'm worried about the Little Prince..." Li Fusheng said in a deliberately lowered voice.
At that moment, the Little Prince seemed to sense he was being abandoned and cried even harder. Ziyue held him tightly and spun around with him. Just then, there was a sudden noise outside the hall. Everyone looked over in confusion and saw Xia Ziqian standing outside alone with a medicine box on his back. Upon seeing them, he stepped forward and said, "I heard that the Little Prince was injured, so I came to see what happened." He then approached to check the Little Prince's wounds.
Seeing the scratch on his hand, although Xia Ziqian felt some confusion, he said nothing and carefully bandaged it instead. Before long, the Little Prince cried himself to sleep. As everyone watched him like this, their eyes were filled with tenderness.
Suddenly, Li Fusheng seemed to think of something and looked at Huixin, saying, "Did anything unusual happen before the Empress was abducted?"
Huixin recalled carefully and said, "Nothing much. During those days, she was with the Emperor every day and was in good spirits. However, regarding the poisoning of the Little Prince, there are other hidden truths. The Emperor truly misunderstood the Empress; how could she harm the Little Prince? During that time, she had been secretly sending people to investigate this matter and had just begun to find some clues when this incident occurred. Now it seems that perhaps the other party discovered it and came to silence her. Our poor Empress..." As she spoke, tears streamed down her face.
Li Fusheng listened quietly. Before he could speak, Xia Ziqian interjected first: "Why didn't you tell the Emperor about this?"
"The Emperor previously believed that the Empress was responsible for harming the Little Prince and even sent her to the Cold Palace. No matter what we said, he wouldn't believe us. So we have been investigating this matter secretly out of concern that the Emperor would overthink things. But we never expected it would all be too late," Ziyue sighed beside them.
Xia Ziqian's beautiful brows furrowed tightly as something unreadable flickered in his dark eyes. He then whispered, "Let's keep this matter quiet for now; perhaps it won't be long before the truth comes to light."
Ziyue and Huixin exchanged a glance, while Li Fusheng remained silent beside them. However, they all knew that this matter might not be as simple as it appeared.
