Death Grip
The Movement Technique is the opening move of the Sword Sect's Sword Nine Formula, a martial art that all disciples of the Sword Sect must master. This is also a symbol of the Sword Sect disciples, so when this young man used the Movement Technique, Xing Chen was certain that he was definitely a disciple of the Sword Sect.
“Killer Lone Star!”
Xing Chen's gaze flickered as he also formed his fingers into a sword and executed the first move of the Lonely Star Sunlight Sword Technique, Killer Lone Star!
Xing Chen's fingers glimmered with Black Radiance, and with a single point, it struck out like a ghostly apparition, unstoppable like a demon king descending.
“Startling Technique!” Seeing the power behind Xing Chen's finger, the young man's expression changed, and he unleashed the second move of the Sword Nine Formula, which had the power equivalent to intermediate Martial Arts.
The Sword Nine Formula, Startling Technique, thrust out in a startling manner, unpredictable as ghosts and gods, collided fiercely with Xing Chen's finger.
With a 'thud thud thud', upon collision, the Sword Sect youth staggered back repeatedly, while Xing Chen's complexion turned slightly pale.
The Sword Sect youth retreated more than ten steps before finally stabilizing himself. He looked up with an expression of disbelief at Xing Chen.
“How could you be this strong? Your strength can completely rival that of an inner disciple of the Sword Sect.” The young man murmured to himself as he gazed at Xing Chen.
Hearing the young man's words, Xing Chen felt slightly disdainful; he had almost killed an elder from the Sword Sect's Yang Spirit Realm, let alone an inner disciple.
“Is this what shocks you? If I weren't injured, that last strike could have killed you a hundred times over.” Xing Chen said lightly while looking at the astonished youth.
“Who exactly are you?” The young man stared at Xing Chen in shock. At this moment, he no longer doubted Xing Chen's words; what he couldn't understand was why Xing Chen was here and how he had sustained such serious injuries.
“You don't need to worry about that; just know that I have the strength to be your backing.” Xing Chen slowly spoke, then his gaze suddenly became sharp: “You are a disciple of the Sword Sect, right?”
“Yes... I am an outer disciple of the Sword Sect.” As soon as Xing Chen finished speaking, the young man felt a tremendous pressure enveloping him, making him have no thoughts of lying whatsoever.
“The Sword Sect is my enemy; logically speaking, I would never let any disciple of the Sword Sect go. However, you seem quite agreeable to me. Not only can I spare your life, but I can also help you and be your backing.” Xing Chen fixed his sharp gaze on the youth.
"Then... what do you need me to do?" the young man asked, swallowing hard and stuttering. He was smart enough to know that there is no free lunch in the world, and Xing Chen must have a purpose for doing this.
"Smart. I need you to help me deliver some Healing Elixirs. Of course, I won't let you do it for free. Not only can I teach you Advanced Martial Technique to enhance your strength, but I can also help you eliminate any obstacles you face in the Sword Sect, and you won't have to pay for the elixirs," Xing Chen said, looking at the young man with appreciation.
The reason he hadn't killed the boy was that he found him likable, and secondly, he needed to acquire elixirs for healing. If he were to wander around the Sword Sect's territory in his severely injured state, he would definitely meet a gruesome end.
"Alright, I agree, but you must guarantee that you can provide me with sufficient help," the young man pondered for a long time before nodding.
"No problem," Xing Chen replied without hesitation. He then learned some information from the young man.
This was indeed the territory of the Sword Sect, located at the back mountain of the sect. The young man's name was Jiang Hanren, one of the most outstanding outer disciples of the Sword Sect. However, he lacked a strong background and support, so despite his diligent cultivation, his strength improved rapidly.
Yet in terms of Martial Arts and weaponry, he lagged far behind others of his rank. Currently, he only knew the first two moves of Sword Nine Formula, Movement Technique, and Startling Technique.
Movement Technique and Startling Technique were decent for those at the fifth or sixth level of Body Refinement, but for someone like Jiang Hanren, who was at the peak of Body Refinement and close to Half-Step Soul Refinement Realm, they were somewhat inadequate.
During the competition for promotion to inner disciples, Jiang Hanren had been sadly defeated by others due to his lack of powerful Martial Arts and Divine Weapons. Even those at the seventh or eighth level of Body Refinement with strong Martial Arts and Divine Weapons could contend with him without falling behind.
This left Jiang Hanren feeling quite unbalanced; he believed he was no worse than those people. The only thing he lacked was Martial Arts and Divine Weapons. As long as he had those two things, Jiang Hanren was confident that he would not lose to any peers.
"What level of Martial Arts do you think would make you strong?" Xing Chen asked Jiang Hanren.
"At least Advanced Martial Technique or a Human-Grade Divine Weapon; otherwise, I can't compete with those who have backgrounds," Jiang Hanren shook his head with a wry smile.
"I can teach you the Thunderclap Sword technique from your Sword Sect. This technique can rival Earth-Level Intermediate Martial Arts; it's just a matter of whether you're brave enough to learn it from me," Xing Chen said slowly as he looked at Jiang Hanren. The technique was something he had obtained from Bai Jitong; although he hadn't learned it himself, he knew how to cultivate it.
"Do you really know the technique? That's second only to Annihilation Technique in swordsmanship!" Jiang Hanren's face lit up with excitement. If he mastered this technique, even without a powerful Divine Weapon, he could dominate among outer disciples and surely promote to inner disciple status without issue.
"As long as you're willing to learn," Xing Chen said calmly. If an outer disciple inexplicably learned a technique that even inner disciples were not allowed to access, it would definitely lead to an investigation.
"What’s there to be afraid of? The Sword Sect never questions where Martial Arts come from. If you can learn it, that's your ability. Outer disciples are only allowed to practice Movement Technique and Startling Technique; however, if you manage to obtain other sword techniques on your own, that's your skill. The Sword Sect absolutely won't interfere," Jiang Hanren said excitedly.
"Alright, I will give you the cultivation method for the Rift Technique." Xing Chen nodded and then transcribed the cultivation method for the Rift Technique to teach Jiang Hanren.
"No matter who you are, thank you for your kindness. If I, Jiang Hanren, become successful, I will definitely not forget your grace. I will go get you the Healing Elixir now." Jiang Hanren took the cultivation method for the Rift Technique, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he addressed Xing Chen as 'Benefactor'.
"If there are any problems in the Sword Sect that you can't solve, come find me, and I will help you." A cold light flashed in Xing Chen's eyes as he spoke slowly.
"Rest assured, Benefactor, I will remember." Jiang Hanren nodded and quickly left.
Jiang Hanren was a chess piece that Xing Chen had planted in the Sword Sect, which would be of great use in the future. With this piece, Xing Chen could not only receive news from the Sword Sect at any time but also lure out some core disciples of the Sword Sect to eliminate them himself.
"Jiang Hanren, I hope you won't disappoint me," Xing Chen murmured as he watched Jiang Hanren leave.
He then returned to the crevice in the mountain wall to recuperate from his injuries. Although it wouldn't have much effect, it would at least slow down the deterioration of his condition.
A night passed quickly, and early the next morning, Jiang Hanren returned with a large amount of Healing Elixirs. However, these elixirs were of low quality and could not compare to what Meng Xiner had given him.
"How is your cultivation of the Rift Technique going?" Xing Chen asked while healing his wounds.
"The Rift Technique is too profound; I can only barely use it at a basic level right now," Jiang Hanren said somewhat embarrassedly as he scratched his head.
As a part of the Sword Nine Formula and second only to the Annihilation Technique, the Rift Technique was certainly not something that just anyone at the Body Refinement Realm could fully comprehend.
"This is quite normal; it is indeed not something you can fully grasp at this stage," Xing Chen nodded without any surprise. If Jiang Hanren had truly mastered the Rift Technique overnight, that would have astonished him!
"I understand. If there's nothing else, I'll head back now and come again tomorrow to bring you medicine," Jiang Hanren said as he nodded at Xing Chen.
Jiang Hanren then left, while Xing Chen used the elixirs brought by Jiang Hanren to stabilize his injuries and restored his strength back to the early Human Soul Realm.
In the following month, Jiang Hanren would bring elixirs to Xing Chen every day. With Xing Chen's help, his strength increased to the early Human Soul Realm. Coupled with the Thunderclap Sword Technique, he could even contend with ordinary Half-Step Soul Realm practitioners.
A month later, looking at Jiang Hanren who had come again, Xing Chen said slowly, "You have nearly mastered your Rift Technique. Now I will teach you a footwork technique. Although this technique is only classified as advanced, it is by no means inferior to Earth-Level footwork."
Jiang Hanren stood respectfully to the side, listening to Xing Chen. After a month, he was thoroughly impressed by Xing Chen. Now that Xing Chen was going to teach him another footwork technique, he felt delighted.
"I will demonstrate it first, so pay attention," Xing Chen said calmly. He then stepped forward, as if stepping on the stars, transforming into a beam of starlight that left behind numerous afterimages.
Watching Xing Chen flicker continuously, Jiang Hanren's eyes sparkled. With this footwork technique, he was confident he could dominate the Human Soul Realm. Even against those in the Earth Soul Realm, he felt he could put up a fight.
"This is the Northern Dipper Star Steps. The most powerful move among them is called Shadow Shift. This move is comparable to the Earth-Level Advanced Martial Technique," Xing Chen said as his figure blurred and vanished from in front of Jiang Hanren.
"This is Shadow Shift!" A voice sounded from behind Jiang Hanren, and the owner of that voice was none other than Xing Chen.
"That's amazing!" Jiang Hanren exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with excitement. This footwork technique was truly incredible, making him unable to contain his enthusiasm.
"Practice this footwork diligently. You should have no rivals within the Human Soul Realm," Xing Chen said lightly as he looked at Jiang Hanren. The Northern Dipper Star Steps was carefully selected by him from the Azure Cloud Gang Martial Arts Pavilion, and no one understood its power better than Xing Chen.
