Bai Yujing found his car in the parking lot below. He opened the trunk to put his luggage inside, but discovered a wooden box lying inside. "What’s going on? Is there still one left?"
Could it be a consolation prize? Bai Yujing suddenly remembered that one box was carried up by Lin Ruoqiao. This girl probably didn’t know where to put it and just tossed it into Bai Yujing's trunk.
Bai Yujing eagerly opened the box and saw a Guanyin Porcelain Statue holding Liu Ping. The Guanyin had kind eyes and layered clothing, very exquisite. Bai Yujing gently lifted the statue from the straw padding; its texture was ivory white, delicate and stunning.
When Bai Yujing turned the Guanyin Porcelain Statue around, he noticed a seal above the lotus pedestal on the back. After studying it for a while, he recognized it as an ancient seal script. He could vaguely make out a character that resembled "Zong," and above the square seal was a small gourd mark with the words Dehua inside.
Bai Yujing didn’t have much knowledge about porcelain. The only antique in his family was a bronze sword that his grandfather had been tricked into buying, and he still didn’t know if it was genuine or not. Several people had looked at it and all shook their heads, saying there were issues with it. However, his grandfather still regarded it as a treasure. Aside from that, he hadn’t seen any other antiques.
After placing the Guanyin Porcelain Statue down, Bai Yujing rummaged through the straw and found more items: a jade ring and a small cup. The cup had a diameter of about eight centimeters, small enough to be held in one hand, which is why it had been overlooked in the straw. It featured a proud rooster along with hens, chicks, and flowers, and the bottom had six characters inscribed—Ming Chenghua Period. Bai Yujing glanced at it and casually put it back in the box; it didn’t seem particularly valuable.
He then examined the jade ring, which was intricately carved with mountains and a large open city gate. Three horses were sculpted: one galloping inside the city, another rushing toward the gate, and the last just peeking out from between Mountain Valley. Despite its small size, the ring showcased exquisite detail and strong three-dimensionality; even from afar, it remained clear.
Still unable to discern its value, Bai Yujing felt that everything should be worth something, especially that Guanyin Porcelain Statue—it was simply too beautiful. The flowing fabric of its clothing seemed to cascade like water, while Guanyin’s kind expression and pure white texture resembled jade.
Bai Yujing carefully stored everything away; if these were to be "submitted" again, he really thought about finding a rope to hang himself instead. After some contemplation, he went to the front desk of Mountain Water International Hotel to arrange for storage services. The young lady at the front desk recognized Bai Yujing; she had been informed by the manager that he was someone important brought by their prince. Everything was free for him, and she treated him with extra care. Bai Yujing also had a black VIP card given to him by Li Hao yesterday, which allowed him to stay for free at their hotel.
After asking around, he learned that there were dedicated safes in the hotel where he could store his items. Bai Yujing planned to stay around for a few days before returning to retrieve his belongings and figure out what to do with them.
With the key and code in hand, Bai Yujing left. Today he intended to see the ocean and enjoy some time on the beach under the sun. Although he had seen the sea in Scotland before, it was mostly rocky shores there and extremely cold—he hadn’t experienced the feeling of a summer beach at all.
Sanniao Bay is located in Qinzhou Rhinoceros Foot Town, over 40 kilometers from downtown. There are no highways, but the road conditions are decent; it takes about an hour to arrive.
Upon entering Sanniao Bay, several leaping dolphin statues at the entrance caught Bai Yujing's eye. She recalled what the waiter had told her in the morning about the presence of Chinese White Dolphins here. From a distance, the area was lush and green, with large clusters of trees interspersed with coconut palms, giving it a coastal feel.
It seemed quite crowded at this time, perhaps due to the hot weather or because the National Day holiday was approaching. Bai Yujing noticed many tour groups and families heading here. However, it wasn't overly crowded yet; during the National Day holiday, it would be packed, which would take away from the experience.
After parking in the scenic area square, Bai Yujing got out and saw a vast expanse of rocks and beach. Waves continuously crashed onto the shore, creating frothy white foam. There were many boats on the water, but as she got closer, she noticed several children digging for shells on the beach and tourists setting up a sunshade while playing mahjong by the sea.
Bai Yujing also spotted some elderly people digging for something among the rocks. Upon closer inspection, she realized they were searching for clams. They were likely locals, and these clams would probably be sent to nearby restaurants. The elderly individuals looked to be about the same age as her grandmother, prompting Bai Yujing to reflect on how one never knows where wasted food comes from.
She took off her shoes and walked along the water's edge. As she ventured further, there were fewer people around. The coastline was still lined with dense forests, creating a beautiful scenery. However, the water wasn't very clear; it lacked that blue and transparent quality, so hardly anyone was swimming. Aside from that, Bai Yujing was quite satisfied.
After taking a boat ride around without spotting any white dolphins, Bai Yujing felt somewhat cheated by her forty yuan ticket and parking fee. She took a few pictures but didn't find anything particularly interesting and couldn't understand why this place was so famous. However, the local cuisine was quite good.
In the afternoon, Bai Yujing visited Bazhajian Valley for a stroll. The scenery here did not disappoint her; ancient-style buildings surrounded clear springs where one could see smooth stones at the bottom, along with waterwheels turning merrily, all filled with a strong sense of water town charm.
Bazhajian Valley refers to an area formed by eight villages connected together. The scenic area still retains a large amount of original forest, inhabited by many members of the Zhuang Ethnic Group. Bai Yujing also saw several girls dressed in ethnic clothing, adding to the exotic atmosphere.
After passing through a square and Grandpa Tree Temple, she finally arrived at the true entrance of the scenic area. Bai Yujing bought some snacks and water because the path ahead led into the original forest. However, there were walkways and bridges within the woods as well as many other tourists.
Bai Yujing prepared to pay her respects as she walked through. Following an artificial walkway upward, tall trees stood on either side, their shade blocking out sunlight and casting dappled shadows on the ground. The walkway was made of wood; leaning against the wooden railing allowed her to see a stream below where water flowed gently with a refreshing scent in the air.
There were several small bridges along the way. When Bai Yujing looked down, she could see a pool of water beneath her feet where many tourists were already playing.
Further ahead was a massive deep pool where Bai Yujing could see mountain water cascading down into it. On a nearby stone slab were three large characters carved into it: General Pool.
Many tourists can be seen sitting on the stones around the pond, while the huge trees on both sides grow at an angle, blocking the sky above. It feels as if the flowing water is streaming out beneath these trees. Bai Yujing also notices several girls in swimsuits playing in the shallow water at the edge of the pond, splashing water at each other and creating a beautiful scene.
Bai Yujing feels a bit tempted as well. Nearby, there is a wooden cabin, which serves as a changing area for visitors to put on their swimsuits. Bai Yujing walks in with a backpack, ready to join in the fun.
