Today, Shuiyuan Village was bustling with activity, no longer the quiet place it used to be when just Bai Yujing and Li Hao were around. Many cars were parked outside the village, and a large area at the entrance was filled with various tools and food brought by people organized by Li Hao.
Indeed, having money makes things easier; more people means more strength and confidence in getting things done. In addition to the six professional divers, five security personnel arrived along with three specialists for controlling underwater detection robots.
The yard was filled with equipment and computers as several professionals were debugging the Underwater Detector. Meanwhile, Bai Yujing was checking the connection of her intercom device. After confirming everything was fine, Li Hao called out, and everyone carefully lowered a device about half a meter in size into the well water. It had two elongated bases at the bottom and a bullet-shaped yellow apparatus on top.
This was the Underwater Detector. Once it was submerged in the well water, Li Hao looked over at one of the people sitting behind a computer. "No problems; it's running smoothly. We can see clearly at the bottom as well. It will lead the way while we follow behind. If anything happens, communicate through the intercom and let us know immediately what you see."
"Got it!" The operator of the Underwater Detector gave a thumbs-up gesture.
Bai Yujing put on his mask and followed the four divers down into the water along the rope. Bai Yujing, Li Hao, and another person walked in the middle, while the two divers at the back kept watch. Once they submerged, they immediately began to dive deeper.
If this were in the ocean, diving to such depths would require a certain level of skill and technique. However, in this well, there was no technical difficulty; they simply pushed off from the well walls, a typical foolproof operation.
As they dove deeper, following the footsteps ahead, it wasn't long before they reached the middle to lower part of the well. At this moment, Bai Yujing also turned on the spotlight on his head, illuminating the pitch-black bottom of the well.
Before long, news came from ahead that they had found the entrance. Bai Yujing followed over and indeed saw the stone door discovered yesterday, which was now in an open state. Bai Yujing stepped inside; the passage was about ten meters long and led into a long corridor.
Bai Yujing shone his light ahead but did not enter right away; he waited for Li Hao and Lin Ruoqiao. After a while, Li Hao finally entered slowly, and Lin Ruoqiao expressed her dissatisfaction: "Is Little Li going to take forever? So slow!"
"I'm just being cautious, do you understand?" Li Hao was reluctant to admit he was a bit scared. After entering here and seeing Bai Yujing and several divers ahead, along with a girl named Lin Ruoqiao behind him, Li Hao's courage gradually stabilized.
Bai Yujing asked, "It's pitch black in here; there could be some unknown dangers. We have enough people now, so Li Hao, you don't have to come down. Lin Ruoqiao, you too!"
"I’m not going back; I've already come down!" Lin Ruoqiao immediately pouted.
Bai Yujing nodded with his mask on. Since they were already here, he just wanted to make one last check. Li Hao also made a 'Y' gesture towards Bai Yujing to indicate that everything was fine.
"The front is a corridor with nothing inside; there are some reliefs on the walls. Confirmed safe." This was the voice of personnel operating the Underwater Detector from above.
Bai Yujing immediately responded, "Received. We will proceed at once; everyone be careful and go in one by one."
They swam out of this passage that was about as high as a person and directly entered a corridor. Bai Yujing's hands, which had been restricted before, were now free in this much more spacious area. With the spotlight on his head, Bai Yujing quickly realized that this was a stone building corridor.
The passage was at the top of the corridor; when they emerged, they were just at the very top of it, several meters above ground level. Fortunately, they were underwater here.
The four divers in front were exploring around, marveling at how this well led to such a place, feeling incredibly magical. Who could have built this here?
Li Hao and Lin Ruoqiao also swam in, looking around: "Wasn't there supposed to be a Relief? Why haven't we seen it?"
Indeed, the walls on all sides and the ceiling were extremely smooth, with nothing present. The stones here were large blocks of marble, fitted together, giving a particularly solid feel. Bai Yujing pointed downwards; when Li Hao looked over, he discovered that about five or six meters below their feet, there appeared to be large patterns. The light shone on the ground, revealing a blurry image.
"This is so strange; why is it carved on the ground?" Li Hao didn't quite understand. Generally, ancient Relief murals are carved on the sides to record important events or history. Only some modern buildings have carvings beneath their feet; such occurrences were rare in ancient times.
Bai Yujing glanced at the entrance where they had come in and then looked at the ground before saying, "Let's check out the Relief first!"
The three of them dove down. The mural began from the entrance as the first piece, carved vertically as if it was specifically displayed for those entering to see. Moreover, it was just right for Bai Yujing and the others' viewing position as they swam in.
It mainly recorded scenes of rituals; each piece was different but seemed to depict various annual sacrificial ceremonies. Bai Yujing kept moving forward, observing each piece; every one was distinct, with people continuously changing. However, the priestess conducting the ceremony remained unchanged.
As Bai Yujing walked along the long corridor to the end, it eventually stopped after more than two hundred pieces. Li Hao remarked, "The further we go this way, the newer they seem; these look like they were recently carved."
Bai Yujing nodded: "It's not just that. Did you notice? The people in these images are all floating in water like us but without any tools. This contradicts what Lin Ruoqiao said earlier."
Lin Ruoqiao nodded: "Indeed. Could it be that they can survive in water without tools?"
Bai Yujing agreed: "Look at the entrance of that passage; there are stone slabs that reveal some details. I initially thought this water could be drained out so that when they entered, they would dry it up. But looking at this architectural structure, it's designed for survival in water. The people from this village likely can survive for a long time underwater without relying on tools."
Exiting the corridor, they entered a spacious room with two doors on either side and a gently sloping upward passage below. A detector had gone through the left door to explore other directions and had not yet returned.
What caught their attention most was a massive stone structure in the center of the room. It looked like a large wheel or a big grinding stone, but its exterior was not very regular, resembling pieces of leaves scattered about.
Bai Yujing looked around the room, which was not very large. Lin Ruoqiao was wandering inside, seemingly dissatisfied: "Why is there nothing here? It's completely different from what I imagined. There's not even a hidden weapon; it's not exciting at all!"
Bai Yujing immediately tapped her on the head: "Don't talk nonsense. This isn't a tomb; it's just a building constructed for a special purpose. The people who built this place need to come and go frequently, so it just needs to be concealed. If they set up traps and hidden weapons, wouldn't that just create trouble for themselves?"
At that moment, the detector turned back from the other side, a yellow detector with a large spotlight, spraying bubbles from its tail and emitting a buzzing sound.
"This circular passage seems to connect many buildings like this one," the control personnel above informed Bai Yujing through the intercom.
Bai Yujing nodded: "Are there a total of 19 rooms?"
"That's right, 19!" The person above calculated quickly and was surprised, not expecting Bai Yujing to know more than he did.
Li Hao immediately asked, "How did you know how many rooms there are?"
Bai Yujing replied, "I counted them with you before. There are five in total; there are twenty-four wells in an outer circle, representing twenty-four outlets. This part should serve as a transfer station for the water flow, corresponding exactly to the nineteen wells in the middle. The water flows in from above and exits here.
