Bel IV pointed at the Squad Leader covered by a metal shield and loudly said to Bel I: "He is Kairuot."
Upon hearing his brother's words, Bel I couldn't help but burst into laughter: "Hahaha! ... This is truly the funniest joke I've heard this year. How could the Squad Leader of the Fifteenth Legion suddenly become the number one wanted criminal, Kairuot? My dear brother, please stop joking around, alright? You haven't been dismissed by the king and lost your mind, have you?"
Bel I's innocent remarks left Bel IV momentarily speechless, just staring at him and then at the king...
At this moment, King Belche had a blank expression. Seeing Bel IV seeking help from him, he finally spoke slowly: "High Advisor, we called you here to ask about who your Squad Leader was modeled after."
"My brother told me that this time the Clone Officer should look more impressive, so—I simulated many officer images through the computer, all personally selected by my brother." Bel I's response was seamless, "All the Clones were reviewed by my brother; how could there be a problem?"
The king turned to Bel IV: "Is what he said true?"
Bel IV hesitated and dared not answer.
Bel I grew anxious and said: "Brother, quickly tell the truth; I have surveillance footage as evidence."
Only then did Bel IV stammer: "What he said is indeed true..."
"Oh." The king replied casually, "Then this must be a misunderstanding; it’s because you made this kid's Clone too much like Kairuot."
"Kairuot?" Bel I feigned surprise again and said, "Wasn't he already blasted away by the Electromagnetic Cannon? How could he appear now?"
"Kairuot hasn't appeared; it's just that Your Majesty thinks that the Squad Leader of the Fifteenth Legion looks quite like Kairuot." Bel IV explained, "Otherwise, you wouldn't have specially called for you to inquire."
"Everything's fine now; it was just a misunderstanding." The king waved his hand and said, "In that case, it seems that Kairuot is indeed dead... Since it was a false alarm, you may both leave."
The two turned to leave when the Fifteenth Legion Captain, covered by the metal shield, shouted: "I'm still locked in here, Your Majesty, please let me go!"
The king gently waved his hand, and the metal cover automatically opened.
As he was leaving, the Squad Leader of the Fifteenth Legion did not forget to bow to the king, saying, "Thank you, Your Majesty!"
Belche watched the three figures walk out of the great hall, feeling a mix of emotions. This was yet another moment where he sensed failure. The gaze of the Captain of the Fifteenth Legion from yesterday's summons was deeply etched in his mind. He thought to himself, "That gaze truly belongs to Kairuot; this person definitely does not have that kind of gaze... Could it really be my illusion?" As he pondered, a sense of inexplicable melancholy arose within him. Belche stood up and began to pace back and forth.
After an hour of pacing and contemplation, Belche still could not shake off the earlier "gaze illusion." His paranoia was too strong; he trusted his instincts too much. Therefore, he gently raised his hand and made a gesture.
A personal Captain of the Royal Guard approached him, cupping his hands in salute and asking, "Your Majesty, what are your orders?"
"Send someone to monitor the barracks of the Fifteenth Legion. Report to me immediately if there is any sign of movement!"
"Yes!" The Captain of the Royal Guard received the order and quickly turned to leave the great hall.
Additionally, in order to ensure everything was foolproof, the king commanded the Command Center on Capricorn Planet through the Controller: "I want you to closely monitor every move of the Fifteenth Legion's barracks. Report to me immediately if there is any activity."
Finally, he used the Controller to issue commands to all palace guards, reiterating: "All soldiers must obey the king's orders without exception. Any disobedience will result in Kill Without Mercy."
After completing these tasks, the king finally let out a sigh of relief. After a sleepless night, he could finally rest easy.
Just when the king thought everything was secure and prepared to undress for bed, an unexpected event occurred—the sound of intense gunfire erupted from the great hall of Capricorn Palace!
A personal guard rushed in to report, "Report to the King, your palace hall has been invaded by assassins, and the soldiers are bravely resisting."
"How many?" the King asked.
"Two."
The King quickly opened his Controller to check the Surveillance Video. To his fury, the one who should have been dead, Kairuot, had reappeared on the monitor!
He hurriedly picked up the Controller and shouted to all soldiers, "All palace troops, listen up: The Capricorn Palace hall is under attack. The first ten palace guard squads must rush to assist immediately. All other squads are to be deployed to guard and patrol all key points, allowing no suspicious individuals to escape. This time we must annihilate all intruders without leaving any survivors!"
When the palace guard squads received the order, they did not arrive as quickly as the King had imagined. By the time they rushed in, all of the personal guards around the King had been wiped out; the battle was already over, and the intruders had fled without a trace. Belche had hidden in a secret passage in his bedroom and thus escaped disaster.
When reinforcements arrived, Belche emerged from his hiding place and saw the bodies of personal guards scattered throughout the hall. He nearly screamed at the arriving soldiers, "Bastards! You are all bastards!! The fight is over; why did you come? To collect corpses? What use are you worthless fools?"
A Squad Leader stepped forward to report to the King, "Your Majesty, our Navigator malfunctioned; we were led in the wrong direction towards the north of the city..."
Several other Squad Leaders immediately echoed him, anxiously informing the King that they too had been misled by the Navigator.
The King knew this was Kairuot's doing and gritted his teeth. Now his most trusted National Guard had been wiped out; he could only rely on these guard squads.
He immediately ordered, "From today on, you will be stationed around the palace. Squads One, Two, and Three will be inside the hall, while other squads will patrol outside the palace courtyard, enhancing vigilance and preventing any intruders from invading. No matter what happens, ensure my personal safety!"
Before Belche could finish speaking, a massive explosion suddenly shook the ground, collapsing half of the hall. Fortunately, the King was not sitting in his usual chair; otherwise, he would have met with death.
This Nuclear Bomb was immensely powerful; Belche was struck by a falling pillar and pinned down. Many soldiers inside the hall were also killed or injured.
Belche was pinned down and could only curse, "Kairuot, may you die a miserable death! If you have the guts, fight me fair and square. What kind of hero are you with these underhanded tactics?!"
At that moment, Bel I and Bel IV arrived. Bel IV attempted to lift the large pillar that was pressing on the king but couldn't budge it. It was Bel I who called for a small crane to lift the pillar, allowing the king to escape.
Bel I hurriedly summoned several soldiers to bring in a stretcher, directing them to lift Belche onto it and secure his injured leg with ropes while ordering them to take the king to Medical Hall.
Seeing this, Belche became very angry: "I'm not dead yet! Why are you in such a hurry to take me away?"
Bel I quickly explained, "I meant that the king is injured and needs to be taken to Medical Hall for treatment..."
"The pillar just now couldn't do anything to me... This little injury is nothing," the king said confidently. "I was just hiding underneath to observe the situation. Even if you hadn't come, I could have crawled out myself."
"Your Majesty is truly remarkable, with no rivals," Bel IV added, eager to flatter.
"Your Majesty is fine; we are all fine," Bel I nodded and said obsequiously. "However, we should leave quickly; who knows when another Nuclear Bomb might appear..." Just as he finished speaking, there was another loud explosion outside that sent many soldiers rushing in panic, screaming in terror.
Bel I wanted to take the king away, but the king refused to leave and waved for everyone to go outside.
Everyone complied and exited the hall, which had already collapsed on one side. When they turned back to look at the king, in that brief moment, Belche had vanished without a trace.
Bel IV exclaimed in surprise, "Where's Your Majesty? How strange... he's gone."
Bel I reassured his brother, "Don't worry; our king is safe now. We should evacuate quickly; if we stay here too long, we might end up blown to bits."
