"What... what is going on?"
Zhang Qi stood up and walked to the window, realizing he could no longer sit quietly in his chair. He unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, feeling a bit more comfortable, as if he had been unable to breathe before.
Looking out the window, the entire Guanghai City was enveloped in a dazzling array of lights, incredibly glamorous. Usually, Zhang Qi enjoyed standing by the window, holding a glass of red wine, sometimes even having beautiful students or small celebrities offering their youthful bodies to him—he had to admit that doing such things in front of such a large floor-to-ceiling window could definitely ignite passion. But for some reason, at this moment, Zhang Qi felt no interest at all.
"Teacher Zhang, aren't you leaving yet?"
The office door gently opened, and a young girl with a graceful figure walked in.
Zhang Qi turned around and saw that it was his receptionist, Che Meng, a girl with dreams of becoming a star who often begged him to choreograph for her or introduce her to agents.
"You can go ahead."
Che Meng slowly walked to Zhang Qi's side, trying hard to straighten her back to accentuate her figure before saying, "Teacher Zhang, do you want me to keep you company?"
Under the lights, Che Meng's figure was curvaceous and clearly well-prepared; her neckline was extremely low, revealing half of her rounded breasts and deep cleavage as she bent over, making one want to insert a finger.
Zhang Qi was a dance teacher who had seen many good figures over the years. In his eyes, Che Meng's body was among the top ten he had seen in the last five years. He was a normal man; how could he not be moved by such a body?
At another time, he would have definitely pounced on her. After all, it was just choreographing a dance. Over the years, he didn't know how many girls he had seduced with this trick; adding one more like Che Meng wouldn't make much difference and would leave no trace.
However, tonight Zhang Qi had no thoughts of that. There was a fire burning in his heart, but it wasn't desire; it was irritation and frustration.
"No need. You can go."
Che Meng was taken aback. Zhang Qi usually was hands-on with her, but now that she took the initiative, he was ignoring her? What was going on? She had extreme confidence in her appearance and figure; if it weren't for her dream of becoming a star, she wouldn't demean herself like this. This decision came after a lot of determination.
"Teacher Zhang... I really can stay and keep you company."
"Just go, I don't need your company."
A surge of anger welled up inside Zhang Qi as he glared at Che Meng.
Che Meng was stunned and stammered, "This... I... I..."
"Get lost! If you don't leave now, you might as well not come to work tomorrow!"
Zhang Qi waved his hand fiercely and roared, like an angry lion.
Che Meng was startled and dared not say anything more. She turned and ran out, a bit hurriedly, almost tripping as she stumbled out the door.
Seeing the flustered Che Meng, Zhang Qi cursed under his breath, "Damn it, what is this! If I wanted to find a woman, there are plenty to choose from."
"Ha~~~~"
He let out a long sigh of frustration and then sighed deeply again. It was impossible not to be moved by Che Meng; it was just that tonight was really not the right time. He felt something would happen tonight but couldn't quite put his finger on what it was.
This was what Zhang Qi was most worried about! It felt like something was watching him, wanting to devour him, yet he couldn't tell where the danger was coming from.
"What on earth is going on with me?"
Zhang Qi stood by the window for a long time before finally deciding to go out for a walk.
After leaving the office, Zhang Qi suddenly remembered the room with the portrait of the Supreme Ancestor and felt compelled to go over.
Gently pushing open the ajar door, he immediately saw three people crawling on the floor, all facing away, so their faces were not visible.
"Well, everything seems normal..."
Zhang Qi breathed a sigh of relief. Normally, he didn't want to come to this room at all, but seeing everything was normal and that there were still people here practicing Spiritual Cultivation felt like a reassurance.
He raised his head to look at the Supreme Ancestor, and upon doing so, his expression changed drastically. In just two steps, Zhang Qi rushed to the portrait.
Two streams of black blood flowed from the corners of the Supreme Ancestor's eyes, slowly trickling down to the corners of his mouth.
He reached out and touched it, realizing it was wet!
"This... this..."
Zhang Qi's body began to tremble. The Supreme Ancestor had been hanging here for two years without ever showing such a condition. Blood? And black blood at that? What on earth was going on?
Zhang Qi's face turned pale as he shouted loudly at the three people crawling on the ground, "Who? Who put this black blood here?"
The room was small, and Zhang Qi's voice echoed loudly, but the people on the floor seemed to have not heard him at all, remaining motionless in their positions.
"Speak! Answer me! Talk to me! Say something!"
Zhang Qi shouted loudly, like a madman. When he saw that no one was paying attention to him, he rushed over and pushed the person on the ground with his hands, even kicking them. But when he finally saw the confused look in their eyes as they lifted their heads, he understood that he would never find answers from them.
These people had long since had their souls "stolen" by the Supreme Ancestor; now they were nothing but walking corpses, incapable of answering his questions. Moreover, in their eyes, the Supreme Ancestor was a supreme deity. How could they possibly do such a thing?
So it definitely wasn't these people who did it!
But then, what did those two lines of black blood signify?
Turning to look at the Supreme Ancestor, Zhang Qi noticed that the two lines of blood were becoming darker and flowing more profusely. Soon, with a "splat," it hit the ground and splattered everywhere.
In the silent room, the sound of dripping water was like thunder, startling Zhang Qi so much that he jumped up. His body trembled; even a fool could understand that the situation was getting worse!
As if soaked in icy water, Zhang Qi's body shook uncontrollably.
"Run! We must leave here immediately!"
It was as if Zhang Qi suddenly woke up; he turned around and ran outside. At this moment, saying anything was unnecessary; the most important thing was to leave this dangerous place and find somewhere to hide.
Rushing into his office, Zhang Qi opened the safe and grabbed a bag, quickly sweeping all the cash inside before dashing toward the elevator...
