Ling Yuxuan watched as Ziyan's emotions shifted from initial disdain to now lowering her head and pleading with him, feeling somewhat appeased in his heart.
He then said, "Remember your words, or next time I'll make your little bottom bloom."
With a huff, he finally let go of Ziyan.
Ziyan rubbed her arms and her little bottom, casting a resentful glance at Ling Yuxuan before turning her back to that rough boy. She then peeled a Wild Bird Egg from her hand and stuffed it forcefully into her mouth.
Ling Yuxuan appeared indifferent as he elegantly picked up the grilled fish skewers that had been on the table, eating while making sounds of approval.
After a while, he extended his long arm, startling the girl who occasionally glanced at him. She jumped up in alarm, facing him with great vigilance.
"What are you going to do? Uh—grilled fish!"
Ziyan initially thought he might come after her again, but upon closer inspection, she saw a freshly grilled fish skewer right under her nose.
The stone that had been hanging in her heart finally settled. Ziyan couldn't help but sniffle and swallow. Should she take it or not?
After hesitating for a moment, Ziyan ultimately accepted the fish that Ling Yuxuan offered. She turned to face him again, glanced at him twice, and then seriously began to gnaw on the fish meat.
After all, conserving energy was important; during this long night, she didn't know what tricks this sensitive and mischievous boy would pull next. She had to endure and outlast him, Ziyan thought to herself.
Time passed quickly in this Cave just like anywhere else. After both of them had eaten enough and remained silent, Ziyan hesitated.
Unsure how to further pass the boring time, she looked at the large bed and the narrower couch nearby, wondering: Would he let me sleep on the big bed or on the narrow couch?
Meanwhile, Ling Yuxuan across from her tidied up their dining area from earlier. He picked up a small Wooden Basin placed at the cave entrance and filled it with dripping spring water before bringing it to Ziyan.
He walked directly back to the steps and reached his hand into the water curtain, instantly splashing countless white droplets. In this way, he washed his hands clean.
Ziyan glanced at him and then lowered her head silently, putting her hands into the Wooden Basin to wash and scrub repeatedly, yet she never stopped, still caught up in her inner turmoil.
Ling Yuxuan, standing nearby and watching her, had a smirk on his lips, a playful glint flashing in his eyes.
Feigning disapproval, he said, "Stop scrubbing already; you'll rub your skin off."
He stepped forward, reached out to pull her small hands from the basin, and used a clean piece of cotton cloth from the table to dry them.
Without giving her a chance to protest, he pulled her to her feet. "Come on, don't you want to visit the inner cave? I'll take you there."
When they reached the stone door—well, technically not right in front of it yet, still about a meter away—Ling Yuxuan pressed her left hand against a seemingly unmarked spot on the left wall. Suddenly, there was a rumbling sound as the stone door opened.
"Come on, little one."
Looking at Ling Yuxuan, who had just spanked him earlier but was now gently calling him "little one," Ziyan felt a slight chill in his heart: even if this guy wasn't truly a Monster in this life, he must have been a Monster in his previous life reincarnated into this time and space. Otherwise, how could his thoughts be so elusive?
Following Ling Yuxuan into the inner chamber, Ziyan noticed that there was also a slightly smaller Night Pearl hanging from the ceiling in one corner of the room. The inner chamber contained several neatly arranged large wooden boxes; what exactly was inside them?
Ziyan didn't dare to ask further. To the left were several display racks holding many weapons—swords, knives, whips—and some shapes that Ziyan, as a modern person, couldn't even recognize... at least dozens of different kinds.
On either side stood a set of golden armor. As Ziyan approached and reached out to touch one, he thought: My goodness! This is really made of pure gold; how heavy must this set be?
At the same time, Ling Yuxuan grabbed her hand and said, "Don't move. These are for war; I don't want you to touch them. They carry a sinister aura."
"Oh!"
Seeing his serious expression, Ziyan stopped her curiosity.
Turning to the right, she was immediately drawn to an Altar, where two portraits hung on the wall above it, depicting a man and a woman.
The man was extraordinarily handsome; the woman was stunningly beautiful, her eyes so lively they seemed to capture one's soul.
Ziyan tilted her head and looked back and forth for a while, then turned to look at Ling Yuxuan, who had been silent beside her. She realized that he was a blend of the features and characteristics of the two people in the portraits.
Now Ziyan understood; these two portraits were indeed Ling Yuxuan's parents.
She couldn't help but sigh inwardly: with such exceptionally good-looking parents, it's no wonder Ling Yuxuan turned out so perfect and flawless.
It turns out that genetic inheritance is incredibly important!
Finally, after a long silence, Ling Yuxuan spoke up, "Yan'er, you should have figured out their relationship to me by now."
Looking at the serious Ling Yuxuan, Ziyan gently nodded in response, "Mm!"
Then Ling Yuxuan took Ziyan's hand again and moved closer to the Altar. He looked up at the two portraits and said earnestly, "Father, Mother—"
At the same time, he glanced at Ziyan before turning back to his parents and continued, "This is Yan'er. She will be the one accompanying me for my entire life—my future wife. I brought her here to meet you today."
With that, Ling Yuxuan wrapped his right arm around Ziyan's waist, and they both bowed deeply toward the portraits together.
After bowing, Ling Yuxuan spoke again, "Yan'er, you are still weak. The aura in this inner chamber is heavy. Let's go outside for now. I will bring you back later to meet Father and Mother."
At this point, Ziyan, feeling a bit tired, nodded and said "Hmm." The two of them then exited the inner chamber.
As Ziyan followed Ling Yuxuan out of the Stone Chamber and glanced back at the inner chamber one last time, she vaguely noticed an exquisitely crafted wooden box placed above the weapon rack.
Curious as always, Ziyan immediately began to imagine what treasures might be inside. That wooden box must contain something of great value! If she had the chance to come back here, she would definitely open it to satisfy her curiosity.
Once outside the inner chamber, Ziyan's mind returned to focus. Remembering that they would be alone together for the night, her mood became hesitant again. As the sound of the stone door closing behind them echoed, Ziyan pouted and began to fidget in place.
Ling Yuxuan, walking ahead, turned back to glance at Ziyan and could easily tell what was on her mind.
He walked straight to the large bed, shook out the blankets and pillows vigorously, ensuring there was no dust before laying them back down with satisfaction.
Then he strode back to Ziyan, taking her small hand in his while calmly saying, "Don't worry. You are a girl and my future wife; of course you should sleep in my big bed. As for me—"
At this point, Ling Yuxuan deliberately elongated his words and paused as he turned to look at the Small Couch not far away.
Seeing Ling Yuxuan's expression, Ziyan naturally assumed he intended to sleep on the Small Couch and secretly praised him for being such a generous man.
Little did she know that in the next moment, Ling Yuxuan shamelessly declared, "As for me, your future husband, I will definitely stay with my little darling and sleep in the big bed."
Before she could react, he swept Ziyan into a princess carry and placed her on the side of the bed before casually removing her soft cloth shoes.
Without hesitation, he took off his own shoes and jumped onto the bed, lying down facing Ziyan.
At this moment, Ziyan was internally cursing his shamelessness while hugging her arms tightly around herself. She felt a whirlwind of emotions and was afraid of what Ling Yuxuan might do next.
Ling Yuxuan blinked his beautiful eyes and amusingly stared at his beloved.
After thinking for a moment, he said, "This ugly daughter-in-law has already met her in-laws, so why still be so guarded against her husband? I promise you that I will not go back on my word, my dear. Just sleep peacefully."
As he spoke, he held Ziyan's head and kissed her small lips. However, this time it was just a gentle kiss before he let go.
Embracing the stiff Ziyan, he leaned closer to her ear and continued, "The Rites of Zhou Gong should of course be reserved for the most beautiful wedding night. For now, just let me protect you well!"
After that, there were no further actions.
Seeing Ziyan's body gradually relax, he took the opportunity to smooth out her little body, which resembled a small kitten.
He placed her small head on his left arm and gently brushed aside a stray lock of hair that covered her forehead with his right hand. He then leaned over and kissed her smooth forehead.
Next, Ling Yuxuan kept blinking his stunningly beautiful eyes, gazing foolishly at Ziyan's small face, which was no bigger than a palm.
It wasn't until the weary Ziyan lowered all her defenses and closed her eyes weakly that he noticed she had completely fallen asleep.
Seeing that the person in his arms had entered a deep slumber, Ling Yuxuan quietly withdrew his arm and gently tapped Ziyan's acupoint for deep sleep before silently getting out of bed.
He quickly walked out of the Cave, leaped over the waterfall, and flew toward the Ancient Tree Forest across from the Cold Pool.
