Second Madam was startled by the sudden kicking open of the door by Xia Yuhan, and quickly put down the intimate clothing she was tidying up. "What’s wrong, Yu Han? Why did you kick the door open?"
Xia Yuhan didn't have time to worry about that and asked, "Mother, where is Xue'er? Where did Xue'er go?"
Second Madam didn't think much of it and recalled briefly, "Oh! Xue'er? She left right after you started resting and hasn't returned yet."
A sense of unease washed over Xia Yuhan, and she anxiously rushed forward, tightly grasping Second Madam's hand. "Mother, did Xue'er go somewhere? Did she take anything with her when she left?"
Seeing Xia Yuhan so anxious, Second Madam became worried as well. Although she didn't know what had happened, judging by Xia Yuhan's expression, she guessed something must be wrong. "Is something wrong with Xue'er, Yu Han? She didn't take anything when she left and didn't say where she was going; she just mentioned going outside to gather some news."
"Mother, it's nothing. Yu Han just suddenly wanted to see Xue'er. Since Xue'er isn't here with you, I’ll head back to my room to rest!" Having learned what she wanted to know, Xia Yuhan chose not to reveal her suspicions about Xue'er, as she didn't want to worry Second Madam.
"Alright. Were you scared this time? I'll go to the back courtyard and personally make you some medicinal soup to help you recover."

Under the watchful gaze of Second Madam, Xia Yuhan turned and left her room.
At the same time, she began analyzing the situation regarding Xue'er...
If what Xue'er said was true—that she happened to overhear a conversation between the steward and Madam—how could she coincidentally appear at the same place where Madam showed up?

Xia Yuhan couldn't make sense of it no matter how hard she thought! Deep down, she felt that this matter was quite tricky!

Just then, as the maid Xue'er still hadn't returned, Second Madam, feeling anxious and worried, pushed open the door to Xia Yuhan's room.
“Yu Han, what are you doing? You've been knocking around for several hours!” When Second Madam entered the room, she didn't see Xia Yuhan, as her view was blocked by a row of elegant screens adorned with beautiful calligraphy.
Xia Yuhan, too focused on her weapon research, didn't notice that Second Madam had suddenly barged in. She quickly hid the miniature weapons she was working on and poked her head out from behind the screen: “Mother, I was just tinkering with some things. Do you need something?”
Although Second Madam found it strange what Xia Yuhan was doing, she momentarily forgot to ask because of her worry about Xue'er: “Yu Han, Xue'er still hasn't come back. What if something happened to her?”
Uh...
Hearing this from Second Madam, Xia Yuhan finally realized that several hours had passed without her noticing! It was all because she got so caught up in her research that she forgot everything around her and didn't realize it had already gotten dark and that Xue'er still hadn't returned.
“Mother, there's no need to worry. Xue'er will come back. Perhaps she's been delayed by something on the way! You should rest early!”
Second Madam noticed the heavy expression on Xia Yuhan's face. After Xia Yuhan said these words, she not only did not leave but also stepped forward to gently hold Xia Yuhan's hand.
“Yu Han, I didn’t realize when you became so strong! Don’t keep everything bottled up inside. I can see that you’re worried about Xue'er. But I know that both of us are in a difficult situation right now, and we can’t ask anyone to help us look for Xue'er!”
Xia Yuhan was startled by the sudden grip, as the miniature weapon she had just developed was hidden in her sleeve. If Second Madam saw this weapon, she might doubt whether Xia Yuhan was truly her daughter.
After all, no one knows their daughter better than a mother!
So Xia Yuhan quickly withdrew her hands: “Mother, Yu Han has an injury on her hand. It was only wrapped up simply before, so it feels a bit painful now!”
Upon hearing this, Second Madam was filled with love and reproach: “Why didn’t you take it easy if your hand hurts? You’ve been banging around in the room for several hours! Look at all those things behind you; you don’t even know how to take care of yourself.”
Xia Yuhan could see that Second Madam was worried about the maid Xue'er, unable to sleep and looking troubled. She quickly nodded in agreement: “Mother, don’t worry. Yu Han knows she was wrong! But you look so haggard; you should rest.”
“Yu Han, I’m not tired. I just feel a heaviness in my chest, as if something is pressing down on me, making it hard to breathe!”
After hearing this, Xia Yuhan thought about how General Xia would return home soon. Since she didn’t know much about Xia Manor, she insisted that Second Madam tell her everything about it.
