After setting up the Magic Array, the three of them lay in ambush in the valley, waiting for the pursuers to arrive so they could launch a surprise attack and then escape.
However, time passed without any sign of the pursuers. After two hours, seeing that no one had come, the three were somewhat dumbfounded, thinking that their opponents had not reacted yet. If that was the case, then those two hours had been wasted; they might as well have fled directly.
Unable to bear it any longer, they gathered together to discuss their next move. If things didn’t work out, they would abandon this ambush point and escape.
After all, the reason they set up an ambush was simply to let the pursuers know their strength and deter them from getting too close. Since the other side hadn’t come, who would just sit around waiting for them?
Just then, Reirfu suddenly turned his head and coldly said, “Who’s there?”
Daniel was somewhat puzzled and didn’t understand why he shouted that; there was no one behind them. After a moment, he noticed a figure slowly approaching in the distance.
The person moved neither hurriedly nor slowly, each step seemingly measured with precision, exuding an air of calmness.
Wearing a monocle and appearing scholarly, he had a certain academic aura. If it weren’t for his Wizard Robe and staff, no one would believe he was actually a Wizard Apprentice.
However, when Daniel noticed the badge on his chest, his pupils involuntarily constricted; it was the Apprentice Leader Badge.
This badge corresponded to the Wizard Academy and was equivalent to Daniel's Wizard Seed Badge. Each of these badges represented an extraordinary talent among countless others.
Daniel instantly realized that today would not end well. Originally intending to ambush a group of weaklings, he hadn’t expected to encounter a big shark instead.
Five people might be formidable enough, but it was only because their three trump cards were fully revealed that they could corner him. Moreover, when the opponent fell into the Magic Array and couldn’t escape, he hadn’t fought back desperately, which allowed them to achieve some results.
Taking it seriously, Daniel was merely concerned about the lives of his companions and feared someone might fall; that was why he hadn’t chosen to fight desperately.
If they really revealed their trump cards, two of them would certainly die, and Daniel and the others would not fare any better; they could even be counter-killed.
However, since this person knew the combat strength of the three of them and still dared to come alone to cause trouble, he must have absolute confidence in himself.
Daniel couldn't help but become alert, always on guard against his attacks. However, the opponent showed no intention of fighting and slowly walked towards them step by step.
That calm demeanor only added a layer of gloom to Daniel's heart, and as he got closer, his vigilance increased.
Suddenly, Reirfu raised the shield in his hand, blocking it in front of the three. Daniel was puzzled as to why he did this but was surprised to find that a sharp spike that had been densely packed on the shield had silently fallen off.
It fell to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust and striking heavily at his heart.
This kind of witchcraft... could it be mysticism?
Only such seemingly unreasonable witchcraft could produce such a bizarre attack method that even the most meticulous observation by a chip failed to detect.
But then Reirfu's words made his heart race uncontrollably.
"Spatial Slash, are you Spatial Endowment?"
Among various witchcraft systems, although each system is powerful and can ultimately destroy the world when cultivated to its peak, if one were to rank them, space and time witchcraft would be the most powerful and top-tier.
According to Daniel's knowledge, these two top-tier witchcraft systems are also the hardest to cultivate and are among the weakest in the Wizarding World power system; very few people practice them.
Not for any other reason, but because these two Archmage systems place great emphasis on endowment, at least among low-level wizards.
Those powerful wizards, even if they could destroy the world, would not be able to stop time for even a second. However, some individuals are born with such gifts and can easily accomplish what other wizards cannot, often without having learned any relevant magical knowledge.
It is precisely because of the overemphasis on innate gifts that very few wizards become renowned for cultivating these two systems. Without such gifts, even the most talented wizards find it difficult to achieve any significant results.
Therefore, Daniel initially did not realize that he was using Spatial Sorcery.
However, every individual who employs this type of magic is among the most powerful within the same level.
Time is supreme, and space reigns; this saying is not arbitrary. Within the same level, space and time are the strongest.
This also explains why Daniel and his companions easily succumbed.
Daniel was puzzled at first. Holding the Silver Moon Guardian Badge made him a backup candidate for Wizard Seed. Given the abilities of Daniel and his companions, as long as there was a vacancy for Wizard Seed, it would almost certainly be theirs; no one could compete with them.
But why did they ultimately choose to surrender the Silver Moon Guardian Badge instead of their Magical Items? It was only when he saw this individual that he understood.
With such an extraordinary talent wielding Spatial Endowment, no matter how powerful they were, they could not contend with him.
Even if their Mental Power was raised to 91 points, five of them working together would still be unable to resist. With an insurmountable mountain pressing down on them, hope would forever be out of reach; anyone would lose confidence and have no choice but to submit. So what significance did having the Silver Moon Guardian Badge hold?
"Not bad. I didn't expect you to recognize it at a glance. How about it? Just admit defeat. I, Franklin, can guarantee that we will only take your Wizard Seed Badge and ensure your safe departure."
His nonchalant tone caused all three to change their expressions. If they were to consider what was most valuable and important to them, it was not Daniel's Magic Crystal Card or the set of equipment that Reirfu had painstakingly crafted; rather, it was the badge representing their identity as Wizard Seeds that they wore on their chests.
There is a saying: "As long as the sword exists, so does the person; when the sword perishes, so does the person." This is a theory of swordsmen but applies aptly here as well. As a Wizard Seed, embodying all the hopes of the academy, if you cannot even protect the badge representing your identity and allow the enemy to take it from you, what use do you have left?
I am only afraid that once I return to the academy, I will be stripped of my identity as a Wizard Seed. The Wizard Seed is like the favored child of the academy; losing the various conveniences and privileges that come with it would significantly reduce my chances of becoming a Formal Wizard by more than half. No one can bear such consequences.
If I truly lose it, I might as well kill them.
Reirfu chuckled, "That depends on whether you have the ability. Begin."
As soon as the words left his mouth, beams of light shot out from all directions, forming a massive Magic Array that included Franklin.
In an instant, countless spells surged toward the center. The overwhelming force was such that even if Reirfu stood in the middle and defended with all his might, he would likely not withstand it.
However, Franklin merely smiled lightly, his expression calm, showing no concern for the incoming attacks.
When the spells were only a short distance away from him, a layer of transparent Spatial Protection enveloped him. Despite the countless spells striking against it, not a single ripple was produced.
The Spatial Barrier is the most powerful form of protection in existence. This shield, defined by spatial boundaries, is the strongest defense in the world. Even a true wizard would find it difficult to breach that thin layer of Spatial Barrier.
This is because its principle divides the inside and outside of the Spatial Barrier into two separate spaces. Without corresponding spells, any magical attack simply hits empty space.
The force that can act upon the Spatial Barrier is only a fraction—perhaps one-tenth or even less—of the spell's original power. If there is not a significant difference in strength, how could it possibly be breached?
