Once upon a time, the inspiration for this story came from a dream. 0

In the dream, for some reason, I stood hesitating at a crossroads for a long time. In the end, I decided to take the left path by throwing a stone. 0

The path I chose led to a dark riverside, covered in gravel, barren of any vegetation. The surroundings were shrouded in mist, making it hard to see clearly, but I could vaguely make out many people standing or sitting by the riverbank, mourning and weeping. 0

At first glance, I thought someone must have drowned here or committed suicide, and that their family was performing some kind of ritual to summon souls. 0

That said, I didn’t hear any chants or the sound of bells from priests… Although I found it strange, I wasn’t curious enough to approach them. Instead, feeling a sense of taboo, I turned and walked toward the less crowded side, trying to distance myself from the sorrowful group. 0

I stood alone by the riverbank for quite some time, pondering why I had come to this place… Suddenly, a small boat appeared on the misty river, slowly approaching me before finally docking in front of me. 0

The person on the boat glanced at me and asked casually, "Do you want to take a ride?" 0

"Where does it go?" I asked curiously. 0

"Do you have any money?" They didn’t answer my question but instead asked me one in return. 0

I looked down at my empty pockets and shook my head. "No..." 0

"This is the boat of the River Styx; you can't board without money," they replied coldly. 0

"Oh..." At that moment, I didn’t fully understand what they meant but responded anyway. "Then what should I do now?" 0

"Stay here," the other person replied succinctly. 0

"Oh," I obediently sat down in place and began to daydream. 0

To be honest, at that moment, all I could think was: great, finally I have the chance to daydream to my heart's content! 0

After all, there are just too many trivial matters in reality that prevent one from fully immersing themselves in their own fantasies and wandering freely. 0

Now I could finally be alone with my thoughts without the fear of being disturbed! Hooray! 0

However, unfortunately, reality is cruel... 0

As with any dream, eventually one must wake up. 0

Because this was not some so-called near-death experience; it was just an ordinary dream... Orz 0

After waking up, I felt that this dream was quite special, so I made sure to jot it down. 0

Later, on a day when I had nothing to do and was reviewing my years of recorded "Dream Notes," I stumbled upon this entry and suddenly felt inspired. I thought it could serve as a foundation for developing a story... 0

Thus, this piece of work was born~~ 0

To be honest, initially I thought this would be quite an obscure topic with low reader acceptance, so I had mentally prepared myself for it to be ignored. To my surprise... the outcome actually astonished me! 0

Compared to other works that were carefully crafted in the past but went unnoticed, the feedback on this casual piece has truly surprised me and renewed my confidence in my writing. 0

I sincerely thank the readers who enjoyed this work! 0

Although I feel that the final outcome diverged slightly from my initial vision, I am glad that I was able to complete it successfully! 0

There are two endings because I simply couldn't choose between them, so I decided to write both. 0

I hope everyone will like it. 0

See you in the next work! 0
