"Wow! I didn't expect you to be the one who scored first in the city for the high school entrance exam, Tang Guoguo. It's an honor to meet you..." Han Min clasped her hands together and looked at Guoguo with admiration, exuding a heroic aura.
"Guoguo, it's impressive that you scored full marks on the exam. Min and I were also placed in Class One, Grade Ten," Guo Jingjing praised.
"I have no choice; this school has high tuition fees," Guoguo shrugged, looking helpless.
"That's true. I don't do well in my studies, so I have to pay tuition. I'm really envious of you, Guoguo." Coming from a less affluent family, Han Min had worked part-time for over a month just to save enough money for tuition, accommodation, and meals. "How did you do, Jingjing?"
"Not bad, eighth in the city. I don't have to pay tuition either," Guo Jingjing replied.
As soon as Guo Jingjing finished speaking, Han Min rubbed her eyes and pretended to cry, "Waaah... I can't face anyone anymore... I'm going to run into a wall."
"Go ahead; as your roommate, I'll give you a ten for effort," said Guoguo.
"Pfft!" The usually quiet and gentle Guo Jingjing couldn't help but laugh at this. "Guoguo, you're so funny."
"Jingjing, don't laugh! If you keep laughing, I'll hit you," Han Min threatened, raising her fist playfully.
"I'm not laughing... I'm not laughing! Just don't hit me; I'm afraid of pain," Guo Jingjing said, backing away a couple of steps.
"Alright, enough messing around. I'm really hungry; let's go eat," Guoguo said, pressing her hand against her stomach as a strong feeling of hunger made her feel weak all over.
"The food outside is expensive. I bought instant noodles; let's just make do with that today," Han Min pointed to the three packs of instant noodles that Guo Jingjing had placed on the table earlier.
Three people finished their instant noodles, took turns showering in the bathroom, and it was just past six o'clock.
It was still light outside. Guoguo and her two new friends giggled as they walked downstairs and strolled through the campus.
"Min, Jingjing, let me tell you, I almost got into a car accident on my way to school," Guoguo said, recalling how she had nearly been hit by a Silver Sports Car not long ago, still feeling a bit shaken.
"That guy must not have been paying attention. Are you hurt?" As soon as she heard that Guoguo had almost been in an accident, Han Min's lively eyes scanned Guoguo up and down, checking for any injuries.
"Did you see the driver's face? You should report him for drunk driving!" While speaking, Guo Jingjing had already pulled out her phone.
