Zhu Junjie cursed Mong Si silently in his heart. This cunning and sly guy had managed to read him like an open book!
Zhu Junjie addressed the people who were about to take Mong Si away, "Can you tell me why you need to take him?"
"No!"
The response was blunt, and they looked at Zhu Junjie with a serious expression, urging him to step aside quickly.
Zhu Junjie initially thought about slipping them a card but feared they wouldn't fall for that trick, which would only land him in more trouble. "Even if you're on a confidential mission, you still have to tell me where I can find him if I want to see him."
"Wait for notification! If there's nothing else, please do not interfere with our duties!"
"Oh." Zhu Junjie stepped aside but then blocked their path again as they tried to leave. "How did you know he was here? He said he is my identical twin brother. We just completed a DNA test and confirmed our relationship. My parents are extremely fond of this long-lost son and have asked me to take good care of him. If you take him away for no reason, how am I supposed to explain that to my parents?"
Zhu Junjie spoke half-truths. Although Zhu's father had told him he would accept the situation calmly if Mong Si was taken by Interpol, if it actually happened, Zhu's father would still be affected. Especially Zhu's mother; the situation with Mong Si had already drained her emotionally, and with Tong Tong being kidnapped... If Mong Si were taken away, Zhu's mother's health might deteriorate drastically.
Thinking of his parents made Zhu Junjie’s attitude very resolute.
Song Lan rushed over upon hearing the news. She was on the phone with the Hai-City Police Department as she walked.
Mong Si was a child who had suffered greatly at the hands of that unscrupulous doctor. The old case was already under investigation, and Song Lan wanted the police to find a reason to temporarily keep Mong Si in Hai-City until the human trafficking case from years ago was resolved.
However, what they didn't expect was that those who came to take Mong Si were not kind-hearted individuals. They approached Zhu Junjie aggressively.
The bodyguards beside Zhu Junjie moved forward, but those men immediately raised their weapons, the dark barrels sending chills down everyone's spine.
Just as Zhu Junjie was about to speak again, he was interrupted by Mong Si. "Don't try to be a hero in front of me; I won't appreciate it!"
"You dog bites Lu Dongbin; you don't recognize a good person!"
He was trying to save Mong Si!
Zhu Junjie glared angrily at Mong Si.
Mong Si let out a mocking hum, "I don't care for your good intentions! You tell your parents about me being taken away, and they'll definitely cry and be upset. You'll have to scramble to comfort them, so don't waste your time here with me. Besides, I have my pride; if this drags on with so many people watching, I'll feel uncomfortable."
"You... fine, if you want to go with them, then go. I won't get involved in your matters anymore!"
"You better not! Because I never want to see your hypocritical faces again!"
The things he did, even just mentioning one of them could land him in prison for life. Even if Zhu Junjie had a place in Hai-City, internationally he was nothing.
Zhu Junjie wanted to save him, but he was too weak!
He didn't want to become a prisoner and face Zhu Junjie through iron bars; that would make him feel like his life had been utterly messed up!
"I couldn't care less!"
Zhu Junjie didn't expect Mong Si to say that. Angrily finishing his words, he watched as Mong Si was pushed into the elevator.
Song Lan came over and held Zhu Junjie's hand, "He doesn't want you to get into conflict with them."
Those people had guns; it wasn't a joke.
If things escalated and they actually used their weapons, it would be serious.
Zhu Junjie wasn't foolish; he could see Mong Si's intentions, but he wasn't used to this side of Mong Si. He gazed at Mong Si, who was being pushed into the elevator, and walked towards the escalator.
Song Lan, worried about Zhu Junjie acting impulsively, followed him.
Downstairs in the hospital, Mong Si was thrown into the back seat of a black van.
The rough actions of those men made Zhu Junjie and Song Lan frown.
Unable to hold back, Zhu Junjie muttered, "These guys are acting like robbers."
No matter what Mong Si had done before, he was injured now. Since those men entered the ward until now, he hadn't resisted at all; they shouldn't treat him so violently.
Song Lan agreed with Mong Si, saying their brutality was indeed excessive.
Zhu Junjie wanted to step forward, but they quickly shut the door and sped off, kicking up dust that landed all over Zhu Junjie's face.
Unable to contain himself, he cursed loudly.
"Don't rush. Interpol has designated locations for handling cases; we can check there for updates," Song Lan said just as her phone rang—it was a call back from the police.
She swiped to answer.
Mong Si has not yet been taken away from Hua Guo. As long as the police can find a suitable reason, they can intercept Mong Si and take their time to plan further.
"We have confirmed with the higher-ups that there is no Interpol operation in Hai-City."
Interpol's activities in Hai-City require relevant documentation, and they have not received any information regarding this matter. They initially thought it was approved by the higher-ups, but after making a call to inquire, they confirmed that Song Lan had received false information.
"Are you saying that the people who just barged into the hospital room were impersonators?"
Those individuals were well-equipped, wearing complete uniforms, and even showed identification... The problem likely lies with the identification.
They were so well-prepared, and since Song Lan and the others had never seen genuine documentation held by a purchasing detective, coupled with the fact that Interpol was indeed looking for Mong Si, they never considered those people to be fake detectives.
Upon hearing this, Song Lan felt an ominous premonition rising in her heart.
"That’s one way to put it. We will investigate based on the clues you provided."
"Thank you."
Song Lan reported the hospital address and room number before hanging up the phone.
Zhu Junjie was very close to Song Lan and heard everything clearly. "Those people are incredibly bold to dare impersonate Interpol! But why do they want to take him away?"
"Are they Mong Si's people?"
"Impossible! Mong Si's people wouldn't treat him so violently."
Those individuals showed no respect for Mong Si at all; when they threw him into the car, their actions were extremely brutal. Zhu Junjie stood by the car and could clearly see the fleeting pain on Mong Si's face.
"Is it possible that they are people trying to seize power from Mong Si?" After saying this, Song Lan shook her head in denial. "That shouldn't be possible. If someone on the island wanted to seize power, the best way would be to ambush him when he returns to the island, not go through such trouble and risk impersonating someone to kidnap him."
"You’re right in your analysis. According to the information we found from Wen, this is Mong Si's first time leaving the island in years. He hasn't interacted with many people; aside from the island residents, there are only those he trades with. Those who kidnapped him... yes, they must be people he has traded with! They are worried that if he gets caught by Interpol, he will expose them, so they took action first and grabbed him! From their attitude towards him, perhaps silencing him is just one of their objectives."
