For several consecutive days, Bai Wenyan always came to pick him up from work right on time. Whenever the company employees saw Chi Mingyu, they would ask him if that person was his boyfriend, which left Chi Mingyu feeling somewhat helpless.
"Young Master Bai, I'm calling you Young Master Bai. Can you please stop coming to pick me up? I'm becoming the center of attention," Chi Mingyu said as he walked up to Bai Wenyan, looking at him with a sense of resignation in his eyes.
Surprisingly, Bai Wenyan did not refute him. He glanced at the billboard on the rooftop before looking down at him and softly said, "I have to show off my identity as your suitor, right? Otherwise, if someone else gets ahead of me, I would be so heartbroken. Wouldn't you agree, little bird?"
"Why do you keep giving me these strange nicknames? Let me remind you again, my name is Chi Mingyu. Hmph."
Chi Mingyu huffed, and Bai Wenyan saw it as a cute display of affection.
The smile in Bai Wenyan's eyes grew even brighter as he ruffled Chi Mingyu's hair and said, "Okay, I'll remember that."
Bai Wenyan's affectionate tone and his beaming smile made Chi Mingyu blush instantly.
At that moment, outside the company entrance, You Heng was watching everything with gritted teeth. The ferocity on his face was hard to conceal, and the people around him instinctively moved away, fearing they might get caught up in his anger.
From a distance, Bai Wenyan also sensed something unusual. He reached out and wrapped his arm around Chi Mingyu's shoulders, deliberately leaning close to his ear and asking, "What do you want to eat tonight? I'll make it for you."
What seemed like a casual question took on a different meaning when Bai Wenyan leaned in so closely; to others, it looked like a playful act between young lovers.
Chi Mingyu wanted to push him away, but Bai Wenyan tightened his grip. You Heng had never seen this side of Chi Mingyu; he had never succeeded in asking Chi Mingyu out, let alone having such intimate interactions. At that moment, he felt like a mad dog whose territory had been invaded, barking furiously at those around him.
Bai Wenyan's grip was genuinely strong, and Chi Mingyu stopped resisting. He said to him, "I want to eat soy sauce chicken."
"Okay."
"Why are you so agreeable today? It's a bit unusual," Chi Mingyu said, looking at Bai Wenyan with his clear, bottomless eyes.
Bai Wenyan smiled back at him and said, "You little bird, let's go home."
Chi Mingyu followed Bai Wenyan to a car parked nearby. Surprisingly, it wasn't a taxi today.
Ever since Bai Wenyan started picking Chi Mingyu up from work, Chi Mingyu hadn't taken the subway for several days; he had been taking taxis home. Today, it seemed that Bai Wenyan had driven the car himself.
Seeing this, Chi Mingyu felt an indescribable sadness in his heart. He said gloomily, "Are you leaving? Will you come back?"
Bai Wenyan, who was driving, seemed to sense Chi Mingyu's low spirits upon hearing this. He comforted him, saying, "Of course I'll come back. Didn't I say I want to pursue you? I'm not someone who gives up halfway."
Upon hearing this, Chi Mingyu felt less sad than before. He realized he didn't know when he had started to look forward to Bai Wenyan picking him up every day.
Looking at the person driving, Chi Mingyu thought to himself, "Having someone like this as my boyfriend would be really nice, especially since he can cook."
As he pondered this, Chi Mingyu felt his cheeks grow even warmer.
